The sanders are allegedly close to Tom Brady. This could be a cheaper cousins/pennix situation

I forgot Brady has a partial stake in the Raiders now bc I don't follow the NFL very closely.

Man, I’m seeing big Cam get mocked in the 5th.  When he entered there were guys saying he could be a 1st round pick and probably 2nd round.  Dude should have come back.

It seems kind of obvious in hindsight. I didn’t feel like he was a 1st round lock, but assumed 3rd round would be the floor. Thinking about it, how much film is out there on the guy and how much is positive? He committed a ton of penalties, he whiffed on assignments regularly, he was hurt and ended up coming across as out of shape, in part due to injury.

He would have gotten a comparable pay deal in 2025 had he come back versus being a 5th or 6th round pick. I think he could be a steal there, given how inexperienced he is. If he keeps ratcheting up the learning curve and hones his body into better shape, he could play for a decade+. Unlike people fading Banks, I do understand why folks are moving Williams down.

A little thought experiment for the annual subset of fans who swear that there aren't 32 "first round" guys in the draft, so-and-so shouldn't get drafted, etc.

Take the QB position.  How many QBs are on rosters any given year?  At least 64.  Probably closer to 96.  Call it 80.

What is the length of the average NFL QB's career?  4.4 years.  That's right, 4.4 years.

It doesn't take a math whiz to figure out that there are probably well over a dozen QBs about to play the last year of their career, EVERY YEAR.  If we use my 80/4.4 numbers, it's 18 guys about to retire or suffer career ending injury.  EVERY YEAR.

Now, some of those guys were never gonna start, and some weren't drafted, and some outplayed their draft position, but the fact remains that on average there are a bunch of new QBs that will have to be absorbed by the league on an annual basis just to offset attrition.  For instance, in 2024 there were 11 QBs drafted.  For crying out loud, one of them was Spencer Rattler!  Anyone who thinks Quinn Ewers isn't draft material is an idiot.  Extend the thought experiment to all the other positions at your leisure.

Was his injury ever disclosed? I am of the opinion that he probably should not have been playing vs OSU, especially given the lack of run game. I do not think he was close to healthy. Respect the fact he went out there and played injured, but I would have preferred to see Goosby. Very talented guy, but raw and mistake prone. If he lands in the right spot, I could see him with a long NFL career. Very high ceiling for a guy projected 4th or later.

Am I the only one who thinks Tetairoa McMillan at 12 is a bad pick if Dallas takes him there?

He's an top-tier WR who's used to making chicken salad out of chickenshit at Arizona. Sounds like a good fit.

He'd be a great pick for them. Might not make it there though

I just don’t see the separation between him and the next few guys at WR.

caveat, I’m wrong allll the time, so he’s probably the next Randy Moss

Sanders is like Anthony Richardson when he was coming out. He looks like a laughably obvious bust. I said it about Richardson at the time and I'm saying it about Sanders now. I know that does not make me unique, just part of a camp that's done both, but it's not nearly as big of a camp as I figured it would be, honestly.

I also like how Cam Ward feigned entering the NFL last year, got a mediocre grade and then went to Miami. Now he's going to be the 1st overall pick? Okay, then. I watched him play like a fucking idiot in multiple games. I never thought he looked like a 1st round pick or anything close to that. I'm interested in observing how truly wrong I am, I guess.

Running backwards 20 yards every down was not necessary even with his offensive line. He tried to make every throw more difficult to get Heisman moments. Whenever he ran into a good team, it didn’t work. Guys like Manzel, Williams and Sanders did that well in college but it doesn’t translate to the NFL. I honestly don’t know if he is a good NFL QB or not because he never tried to show that he was.

There is a long list of QBs that came back for their senior year and exploded into top draft picks. I can name 2 recent LSU Heisman winners that statement applies to. Ward made a bunch of bonehead plays but also a lot of bigtime plays, dragging his shitty Miami team to national relevance

Ward has the leadership qualities you need in a QB. There are no other options the Titans have that they can sell to their roster and say "go play hard for this guy"

Are there better players in this draft than Ward? Sure. But the Titans have been a good roster, no qb team forever now. They need a QB and if he busts, roll the dice again in 2 years

Yep.  Only Richardson is a physical freak.

sanders skills are apparently pretty mid but if he’s worked with Brady maybe he could be pretty successful

If the Steelers aren't interested in Sanders or Dart and don't see a viable free agent QB, I wonder if they'd take on some of Kirk Cousins contract. Also wonder if Atlanta would actually give up draft capital to make it happen. Atlanta has already said it would eat $17.5 of the $37.5M guaranteed, but most teams want them to eat closer to $27.  Something like Atlanta sends Cousins and #15 pick to Pittsburgh for #21 pick and Falcons only eat $20M of the Cousins contract. [/fan fiction]

I think Dart may end up being the best QB in this draft and have the best career of those in this draft.

Honestly, that dude plays hard. I watched him get wrecked by UGA and he just kept getting back up. I don't think he's the most talented QB in the draft, but I think he'll have a strong NFL career. Probably moreso than guys that get drafted higher than him.

Replace Ward with Tyler Shough and Miami wins 7 games max last year

Are you a Titans fan or something?

Joe Burrow and Cam Ward have almost nothing in common. I find that comparison comical. Do you think that Ward has a lightning quick release, is a witch at going through progressions in the pocket and wields a fucking cannon? I don't see any of that.

Daniels is also a guy that can see all the layers of a defense and limited mistakes in the passing game. The dude went 57/7 in his last two years throwing the ball while rushing for over 2,000 yards. Ward threw 7 INTs this season and was not a rushing threat out of the backfield. On top of that, Ward is shorter, with smaller arms, and tiny hands. They're both black QBs, and that's where I see the similarities ending.

Tyler Shough had his only healthy season last year in a pass happy offense and a shitty conference. The fact that he's being mentioned as legitimate draft pick in this cycle is laughable. Who gives a shit what he'd do in someone else's offense?

Miami got out of several games through rigged officiating and should have easily been two losses worse last season. They played in a miserable conference and still didn't make the playoffs. The "Cam Ward is a leader of men" narrative has the ACC doing a lot of work for it.

The video review office in Charlotte should have been named MVP for the Hurricanes last year.

Wooof.

Dallas would be much better off drafting Banks as a Tackle/G (since Guyton has struggled) than drafting a true G, JMO.

They're going for an OL consisting solely of Tylers.

Thats the 3rd or 4th mock draft I've seen recently with Banks to the Raiders.

Yup, McShay and one of the ESPN ones had him there too. Wondering if his “drop” was more teams wishcasting him getting to the teens / twenties.

100%. I bet someone like the Texans was shit talking him to anyone that would listen hoping he’d fall.
