TIL about the Salata Rule:

Quote

"Irrelevant Week" gave so much publicity to "Mr. Irrelevant" that in 1979 the Los Angeles Rams, with the penultimate pick, intentionally passed to let the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the last pick, choose before them. The Steelers also wanted the publicity and passed as well. The two teams continued to refuse to choose a player until NFL CommissionerPete Rozelle forced the teams to pick, with the Steelers winning the pick. The incident led to the "Salata Rule", which prohibits teams from passing to get the final pick.[3]

Pat Kirwan on NFL Sirius XM bets that Texas beats record for most draft picks in a single 7 round draft.  Needs 17.  Not sure he's correct but thinks it will get done.

This year?  I don't see it.

Thats what he said today.  Think will be short 1 or 2 players.  Others above had it out over the range.  Would need Bolden, Connor, and Holmes to be drafted probably.

I could see Holmes being drafted.  I could see Bolden making a team.

Will Bond be drafted with his legal issues?

Yeah. He should’ve came out last year when he still was viewed as high talent and potential, and may have been given benefit of the doubt due to injuries. The more he played in college and put on tape, the more “he is who he is.” If he transferred for 2025 and had another good but not great year, he’d land himself in 6th round 2026 territory.

He might’ve made more money staying in college.

Overally, possibly. But Georgia dominates the early rounds.

Quinn goes number 1 overall

Round 1 - Ewers, Blue, Bond, Banks

Round 2 - Collins, Barron

Round 3 - Majors, Golden

Round 4 - Sorrell, Mukuba, Helm

Round 5 - Blackwell

Round 6 - Holmes

I think most of the juniors will come back for another year. One of the myriad transfer DL probably gets drafted as well.

Time to see how it plays out!

Tonight should be 3 and 3.  Georgia my have slight advantage in rounds 2 and 3, but will be close.

Was it most prevalent in the 80s/90s in Texas?

The time period in which few Texas high school QBs went on to be good college QBs and even fewer to the NFL.  Some have said QB is the most important position.  So, let’s run an offense that limits the QB.

Just cause the Marlin Bulldogs ran roughshod over you with it does not mean it was a beautiful offense.

East Bernard ran the Slot T in 2012-13 when the won a state title.

I have seen it most in smaller schools and it can be really effective.  Think Fulshear ran it this year and they beat they shit out of a number of schools before they got beat by Atascosita.

They ran for some crazy number, maybe over 450 ypg and then threw for just over a 100 a game.

That coach has since gone onto Klein and it will be interesting to see if he runs it there.

You mean the school that won State in track with a 3:10 sec 4x400?  I'm gonna bet some of those guys were on the football team.

Hopefully the Falcons aren't dumb enough to draft Shemar Stewart. Good lord.

bad teams don't get bad by making GOOD decisions in the draft

Between Shedeur & Quinn:

1) Which one ends with more career passing yards?

2) Which one has a longer NFL career?

Anyone who thinks Shedeur is a better prospect than Quinn... you can pretty much ignore any opinion they have on the sport of football. They have no clue what they're doing. They wouldn't know a 3-tech from a hip flip. Wouldn't know a good read if they were given the abridged version. Couldn't make a call with a Fisher Price phone. Probably think an audible is a type of male cow. Think a 5-step drop is an addiction recovery program.

Nahlin had 15 with no bond earlier today. I’ve maintained 14 for months now. If it’s 13 and bond doesn’t go I’m not hanging my head in shame as sex assault charges unknown about during the year is pretty crazy. I can think of 16 you could make a reasonable case for (the 14 combine guys plus Bolden and Gbenda- I guess Gavin Holmes who had a pretty good pro day would theoretically be 17?).
that would be pretty unexpected.

How much was the check or did he want that in cold hard cash? Because unless he's getting paid for that nonsense he's out of his mind

How coachable is he? He's only had one head coach.

Got damn. Milroe is there??

I'm a Steelers fan.  I think they will take Milroe in round 1.  They think he is Lamar Jackson, just hope they trade down to take him.
