Happy that our three guys got drafted.  Seen mock after mock with Banks Jr. nowhere in the 1st round and I'm wondering if all these talking heads are on crack.  Dude is your typical draft this guy and he'll lock down your QBs blind side for 15 years type of guy.  Jahdae and Surtain are going to make passing against the Broncos impossible.  Golden to the Packers is nice, too.

Here's to Big Al, Gunnar, and the rest of our guys going tomorrow and Saturday.  Maybe close to 10 guys drafted for us?

You are absolutely correct. Although I composed a compete sentence, it was not the complete thought, which was implied...

I don't get why you are posting the pics here.

More clear?

Y’all think G Helm might go tomorrow to the Broncos? Perfect fit for Peyton and newish QB, plus he’s a CO boy.

Hook’em!!!

I'd bet against it, with even odds

The Browns might have played it perfectly. If they take Johnson at 1 and Sanders at 4. They could have 3 first round talents.

Calling Sanders a first round talent is a stretch

Probably for the same reason I fart in your general direction.

It feels good.

It's crazy that so many great receivers come OUT of GB, considering this was their first 1st round WR pick.

Is their WR coach looking for a pay raise?
Not that Chris isnt getting it done (we don't know yet).

Whoever claims to have written the previous post is spot on. T Mac took plays off on his mediocre Arizona team “on tape” depending on opponent.

Golden’s year with Texas had no “fluff” plays to take off!

nil price is going to go up
by this nil era, a top 10 program should have at least 2 first round picks yearly

Cam Ward ran the Wing-T at Columbia (TX). His play calling (coaching directed) only got about 10-12 passes each game, so that’s why he was such a “missed” talent in HS.

GJ Kinnie (TX State) deserves respect as he saw that diamond in the rough and brought Ward to UIW. A very little time later they had NDSU on the ropes in the 1-AA Semis, and this is UIW!!!

That week most likely had the biggest “Google search” on what is a UIW.

Exactly. The only reason people thought he'd go high is because he's a QB and it's a draft without top end QB talent. The stories planted in the last day or two are 100% correct. He takes WAY too long to get rid of the ball, he doesn't throw until receivers are already open, he just basically shows very little to no anticipation. That's a recipe for disaster in the NFL.

This is kinda fucking crazy ...

Ohio State’s 2021 wide receiver room was one of the most loaded position groups in college football history, especially during spring practice.

Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Jameson Williams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka made up Ohio State’s two-deep at wide receiver that spring. Four years later, all six of them are now in the NFL as first-round draft picks.

Wilson (No. 10 overall, New York Jets), Olave (No. 11, New Orleans Saints) and Williams (No. 12, Detroit Lions) were all selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft. Smith-Njigba (No. 20, Seattle Seahawks) was a first-round pick in 2023. Harrison became the highest-drafted wide receiver in Ohio State history (No. 4, Arizona Cardinals) in 2024. Egbuka became the sixth first-round pick from that group when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him with the No. 19 overall pick in Thursday night’s first round of the 2025 NFL draft.

Literally didn’t run the plays. Always scrambled for the spectacular Also I’m always weary of qbs who will take the sack rather than throw it away. Stats guys

Considering a NR went #1 overall it seems like there is some room for improvement.

Eric Morris discovered Ward and then took him with him when he went to Wazzu.

It blows my mind that a kid from West Columbia went first in the draft.

Yeah I had no idea til last year he was from there. Never heard of him in high school and I’m pretty plugged into big names coming out of his general area.

Too good not to share

Someone in a PGT made the comment:

Jalen Milroe flips a coin before every game. On heads, he comes out wearing a crown of lightning and all tremble before him. On tails, he plays like a golden retriever staring at a nuclear bomb blueprint.

Not to rehash old shit from the “talking heads” over the past couple of months, but explain to me how the Outland Trophy winner (Banks) was the 3rd Tackle taken in the 1st Round?

Dude started at LT, just like the LSU guy since his Freshman year and played multiple years in bigger “high profile” games than him and was SOLID his whole tenure on the 40. What was I missing?

The dude from Mizzou (RT) was better in the T-shirt Olympics, but really?

Hook’em!!!

It’s pretty simple.  Different teams have varying o line schemes, with very different physical attributes desired to fit them.  Arm length, hip width, bendability, etc play into it.  Some want road graters others want ballet dancers.  As no o lineman now comes into the league ready made you’re going to pick what you like and coach them up.

this was an issue during McCarthy’s tenure.  He had shitty o line coaches with schemes not in alignment with the type linemen they had in place.

Legendary.  Har har!  The $ squared logo is especially hilarious seeing that his contract is going to be shit compared to a R1 deal.  The talking heads will be full of blame, charges of racism, and indignation.

The draft is bereft of QB talent and the financial cost of a miss at QB is relatively low.  The real cost is the cost of missed talent at other positions.  This is why NYG trading up to take Dart confuses me.  To move up 9 slots - and draft Dart - they gave up #99 and 2026 3rd rounder, which I will call #80 (mid 3rd).  That is #34 and 2 starters in other roles for Dart.  NYG have Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston on their roster.  I see platooning them as a better option than paying a premium for a mid QB.

Some scouting reports said, "keeps his eyes down the field," and I chuckled.  Yes he does - and it's not for the right reasons.  He holds the ball too long and is always looking for the highlight play.  HIs progressions are slow and he abandons them quicker than he should - then looks down field.

The Big 12, the ACC and others can bellyache all they want about the SEC and Big 10 pushing them around at the negotiating table when it comes to number of playoff spots and other aspects of the future of college football.

But last night was a prime example of exactly why the two premier conferences feel justified in doing so.

The SEC finished with 15 picks in the first round of the NFL draft. The Big 10 had 11.

That’s 26 of 32 in the first round.

The Big 12 and ACC had just 2 each.

Hell, Texas alone, with three first-round picks, had more than those two entire conferences. Ohio State, Georgia and Michigan did, too.

The message to recruits is clear. If you want to play big-time college football on a weekly basis, you need to be in either the SEC or the Big 10. Otherwise, you’re just not playing the same category of competition weekly (or, more appropriately, “weakly” in the case of the Big 12 and ACC).

**

There were six native Texans selected in the first round of the draft. The Longhorns were three of those.

No other Texas team produced a Texas native first-rounder.

Cam Ward from West Columbia, Ashton Jeanty from Frisco and Donovan Jackson from Houston were the other Texas natives who were selected in the first round.

If you’re looking at the state as a whole from a production standpoint, that’s four from Greater Houston, one from DFW and one from Cen-Tex. DFW typically holds that edge so it was a big year for Houston.

**

Knowing what he went through in high school dealing with his mom’s health issues, knowing how he comported himself in college from his very first week on campus where he treated every day like he was on a mission, I couldn’t help but be excited and simulataneously amazed at the path of Kelvin Banks to become the 9th overall pick of the Saints.

Way to go, Kelvin!

**

Jahdae Barron held a PARTY last night [all caps used for emphasis!].

A lot of current Longhorns and even their families were invited and attended. At least 200+ folks were there to celebrate Jahdae going to the Denver Broncos.

**

Matthew Golden, meanwhile, was feted in style. Golden was picked by the Packers, who hosted the NFL draft.

That had to be a cool experience for Golden, who received a warm reception when his selection was announced.

The face of narcissistic collapse.

You wear a giant dollar sign around your neck and have dollar signs all over your draft room and wonder why teams are hesitant to put their franchise’s fate in your hands.  What a tone deaf idiot.

Full disclosure I am a Lions fan and have disliked Deion Sanders ever since he told the Lions he would not play for them if they drafted him. Like father like son.

I deal with a company from Wisconsin and there are probably ten employees that are as crazy as this guy.  They could have drafted a kicker in the first round and they all would ahve been just as excited as this guy.

It's why I've started to hate the Packers.
