But here's the thing: Gabriel and Milroe need MUCH MORE work than Ewers does. FAR more. What they don't have? An injury history like Ewers'. Quinn hasn't had a full healthy season since his Sophomore year in high school. That's the reason, and the ONLY reason, he's dropped this far.

Ewers is small, had a soso arm and is turnover prone

Milroe is benefitting from Jalen Hurts. He's big, he's fast, he's strong, he throws a great deep ball. I doubt he has the mental side that Hurts has, but a team will always fall for measurables.

people said the same about jackson and maaaaaany other black qbs, worked out pretty good for jackson

milroe has a high ceiling. looked pretty good in SEC play for two years

poor leadership skills

he was an idiot not looking for another school and fielding offers for the upcoming season. just horrible advice.

nil for a qb should be better than 4th / 5th round money, and you have a shot at improving your draft stock

Improve by going to a team without 20+ guys headed to the combine?

No it isn't and your assessment of talent is clearly biased and doesn't to this point and I'm confident won't match the NFL's.

Milroe is far more athletic, has long ball ability (lacks less than Quinn) and mobile and hasn't been injured. Can't teach that.

Gabriel has a better read ability, long ball and pocket presence with a better health history.

Milroe was already taken.

The rest will play out.

The only reason? Do you watch Texas football games?

Yes. Did you watch Gabriel and Milroe's games?

Gabriel is a much better QB than Quinn. Milroe is a much better athlete than Quinn. Both throw better deep than Quinn. NFL games aren’t won with 10 yards and fewer passes.

The cheese stuff is super dumb. So is the amount of time and attention that people pay in reading / preparing mock drafts, reading instant draft analysis, then giving draft grades when the large majority of impacts won't be known for several years. So it's a perfect match.

What the fuck does that have to do with the stupid cartoons being posted? You don’t have to watch the draft or even participate in the thread. But we have to see these dumb cheese things?

I'll never understand people that go into threads they hate to post how stupid and pointless those threads are and that nobody should post in them. Is there anything more pointless?

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

Jalen Milroe flips a coin before every game. On heads, he comes out wearing a crown of lightning and all tremble before him. On tails, he plays like a golden retriever staring at a nuclear bomb blueprint.

Repost because some of y'all seem to have forgotten this.

Now, think about the fact that Sanders is worse. Look at his completion percentage over 20 yds. It sucks. Now ask yourself if you can remember if he ever took responsibility for a loss, a bad decision, or anything ever. Now ask yourself what did he say in the interviews he did decide to attend that was so off-putting that those teams won't touch him. Add all that together and here we are. Ignore Kiper. Ignore anything and anyone that omits or glosses over the above known conditions. Completion percentage isn't the only stat that matters. He's not that great. He's not really even very good. He padded his stats and he was coddled his entire life. He cannot abide criticism. Milroe's team didn't want him back. Now ask yourself if he was that bad how much worse is Sanders if Milroe went before him. There's no conspiracy. They aren't overlooking anything. He's a big bunch of suck and he's fucking radioactive.

He's a good fit for Los Angeles, aside from being a Country kid.

Ewers? Southlake = “Country”?

I guess he can get mentored there by his fellow country boy from Highland Park.

This is the draft thread. Can you guys post more cheese pics and talk less about the sanders offspring?

There's a Sanders specific thread and there's a lot of longhorns that have been picked and are still in play, plus a lot of other picks to discuss.

Wait, wait, wait.

You are suggesting that Surlytians stay on point? Use facts, reason and logic and submit erudite opinions?

Really?

To be fair... there's a lot of us for whom the Sanders drama has made this year's draft more interesting than any previous draft. And it's not just us here on Surly. I've never been enraptured through the third round like I was yesterday. Today, I'm legitimately thinking about making time to be alert through the final four rounds.

(And DrawPlayDave has exactly one silly Cheese pic left, for You Know Who, and as the guy dropped he realized he had to redo/revamp the drawing.)

In fine with some talk about it especially when framed in the context of the other players available. It's part of the draft, but there's a ton more going on than fucking shadeur sanders and a lot of longhorns in play or picked.

Milroe is a great athletes with a strong arm and a good deep ball. He is Anthony Richardson, but actually a better passer. That isn’t a high bar. He has the highest ceiling of any of the QBs and the lowest floor. In the 3rd Round it’s probably worth that lottery ticket, even if I think it’s less than a 10% chance of hitting that ceiling.

Gabriel is the poor man’s version of Drew Brees. He is not big. He is not a great athlete. His arm is mediocre at best. He is accurate and knows how to play the position. He is the polar opposite of Milroe.

I do want to clarify that there isn't a single quarterback in the NFL currently without an elite arm.

In the frame of reference of other NFL QBs there is mediocre.

Which Milroe are we talking about?

There are two and they are vastly different.

Also this

“We heard out of Alabama all the skill [players] would’ve transferred if he came back. He wants to be known as a pocket quarterback and your best skill is you’re frickin’ fast.”

Edit: I forgot that Jalen fucking Milroe went in the 3rd. Tnt should tell you how much Sanders sucks shit.

It is the Brian Scalabrini (Sp?) thing. Loved when he went to courts to destroy people at 40. He wasn’t very athletic in the NBA, but he is still  in the top 1% of the general population athletically

If Aaron Rodgers drop in the draft to the Packers in the 2005 Draft inspired him to a HoF career, this precipitous fall  is gonna propel Sanders to immortality.

Dude isn't making a roster after preseason. He absolutely sucks ass. He holds on to the ball too long and waits for a WR to get open. In the NFL you quite literally have 2 seconds to throw on your read. No way can he understand NFL language, but less their play book.

I largely agree with this, but think Gabriel's arm, while not great, is certainly better than mediocre. He is on the same level as Quinn with quick release unders/reads nd has a substantially better pocket awareness. No he's not a great athlete, but I think he is a good one that throws well on the move.

I think poor man's Drew Brees is a fairly accurate assessment. So, we arent too far apart. I think Gabriel would do well in an RPO offense like thr Raider but I'm not sure he'll ever be a QB1.

Mainly, I'd personally rather see Gabriel on Dallas' bench over Sanders and Ewers.

I want Ewers to do well, I just dont have any faith he can stay healthy and has a lot of required growth that may or may not happen.

Sanders is a cancer.

So Shedeur is going to use the snub as motivation to have a great career...doesn't that exactly justify why snubbing him is the right move?
