Watched the video. It made my stomach turn, but article was even worse. Makes it sound like the treadmill deal was just the tip of the iceberg. Poor kid.

Shit, give him a chance to go free. Suspend a treadmill with no rails over a pool of chloric acid. Run for 15 minutes at an 8 minute mile pace, and all is forgiven.

This is oddly specific.  Remind me to never piss off aggy08.

8 minute mile ?

Dude that's called jogging.

Bump it up to 5:30-6 minute mile and you'll have your desired effect quickly.

It's like the end of Wind River. Pussy wouldn't last 5 minutes running an 8 minute mile.

This guy should die painfully. Unreal. Just a total POS.

Chain him to the back of an ATV. Drag him thru a variety of rough terrain and rocks. Make sure he keeps up. See how he likes seeing his limbs ripped off.

I was removed from custody of my bio parents at 18 months, put into foster for almost a year, and then placed back with bio-parents. I was adopted at almost 4, at the request of the state welfare office( now CPS) to my original foster parents.  It has always been fucked up to me that my bio parents were given a 2nd chance to kill my ass.  I will not list what they did, repeatedly, much to the horror and disbelief of my fosters.  I miraculously do not remember any of the abuse, or at least my mind channeled away from my consciousness.  There's something that messes with you that your parents didn't want you, but also physically abused your ass.

As an adult, when discussing adoption, many people ask if I ever looked up my bio-parents.  "Fuck no.  Why would I?  To rekindle the hate?"

Damn. I can't imagine. I have half sisters who still struggle, years and years later, with their parent's divorce, while I struggle to understand their feelings of rejection and how they decided to take it so personally. They were FAR from abused at any point. As opposed to your situation.

Great viewpoint on not wanting to dig it up. Most people are much better off not picking their scabs.

It is fucked up how "the state" presumes the best situation is always with the parents or family, and ignores how those parents or family are actually treating them.

I don't know man.  It certainly appears that New Jersey passed bail reform - at least the Courts seem to say as much here

Criminal Justice Reform | NJ Courts

Surely the bond judge considered... the law, when granting bail.  Maybe you just don't like the fact that bail reform laws resulted in more people receiving bail.  Seems to me like when more people receive bail, sooner or later one of them is going to do something criminal. That doesn't make them special. Normal people commit crimes (everyday), why should people out on bail be any different?

Bail is a constitutional right but, if I'm the judge that lets a child-abuser out on bail and that person goes on to kill the child, I'm losing sleep.  For a long while.

Internet says NJ doesn't have death penalty.  Would this be a capital crime/death penalty case in Texas?

The victim was already dead by the time he was granted bail. What they apparently didn't know was that the sperm donor had been abusing the child beyond the treadmill crap, which although horrific in itself is not a fact pattern that supports a murder charge.

Bail reform doesn't often make the difference between bail denial and the setting of bail. It does often reduce the exorbitant bail amounts for lower level offenses.

Isn't a lot of this going to be judge and prosecutor dependent, forum dependent, and fact dependent?

Some judge's are easier on bail than others.  Some prosecutors take it more seriously than others.  Some defendant's present better than others.

Doesn't most of it land on two issues?  Flight risk and danger to community?

And doesn't this guy likely pass the flight risk test?  His bail issue would be "is he a danger to the community?"

And somehow someway they didn't, or couldn't, demonstrate to the judge's satisfaction that this guy's release could jeopardize the 6 year old's safety?
And if they had successfully done so, couldn't a bail condition be no visits with minors?

With all that, judge could have said

1.  Not a flight risk.

2.  Not a danger to community except his own child.

Bail set at $1, but no contact with kids?

I get to monday morning qb this one but, kinda seems like this would have saved child's life.  Shouldn't we monday morning qb things when 6 year olds die?

Right, and all of that would have nothing to do with bail reform.

And no, as I said, the kid was already dead by the time he received bail on the initial charge.

Here's a story on NJ bail reform. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/11/new-jersey-bail-system-roll-back-00072781 It's designed not to grant everyone bail, but to eliminate cash bail on minor and non-violent offenses.  It's just a scapegoat for shit happens.

Pretty clearly, the bail reform comment was a gratuitous and likely false comment from a lawnorder demagogue preying on pearl clutchers.  Don't be a pearl clutcher.

Found not guilty of murder, guilty of manslaughter.

https://wiredposts.com/news/christopher-gregor-not-guilty-of-murder-but-jury-convicts-of-manslaughter-in-death-of-son-corey-micciolo/

A jury in New Jersey found Christopher Gregor not guilty of murdering his 6-year-old son Corey Micciolo.

The jury did convict Gregor on the lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter, which carries a sentence of 10 to 30 years in prison in the state of New Jersey. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 11 .

Gregor shook his head in apparent disbelief and anger after hearing the verdict and later appeared to be fighting back tears while the victim’s mother, Bre Micciolo, openly wept in court.

Jurors also convicted Gregor of endangering the welfare of a child after viewing a video of him forcing his son to run on a treadmill despite the child repeatedly falling off the workout machine at the gym in his apartment complex.

Micciolo filed an Order to Show Cause seeking emergency custody of Corey just days before his death, while DCPP investigated her report that Gregor abused Corey by forcing him to run on a treadmill. DCPP had seen the video, and a case worker later told police that he photographed and investigated bruising on Corey six days after that incident.

A judge did not grant Micciolo’s request for emergency custody of Corey in a ruling submitted to the court just one day before his death. The preliminary findings submitted by DCPP about the March 20 incident played a crucial role in the judge’s decision, says the ruling, which was obtained by Inside Edition Digital.

The ruling notes, however, that the court “does not find that … Corey is in danger of imminent and irreparable harm. Therefore, the Court does not find a temporary modification of the parties’ custody and parenting time arrangement appropriate at this time.”

Micciolo dropped off Corey at Gregor’s home, as was ordered by the court, at about 9 a.m. on April 2, 2021. She told police she last heard from Gregor at about 3:30 p.m., when he told her he was taking Corey to the hospital.

Two hours after he arrived at the hospital, Corey died.

Wait so this was a divorced dad spending only limited time with his kid? For fuck sake, make the kid jog with you on the sidewalk in the neighborhood if you think he needs to run. He’s 6, it won’t be hard to keep up

Dad was clearly doing it as some sort of fucked up punishment or psychological abuse, kid was not fat and needing to run it off. The articles go into more of the other abuse the kid suffered which sounded worse sadly.

Would have liked to see him catch a murder charge conviction, but manslaughter is probably technically the correct finding. Just sucks he won't rot in prison for life. Hopefully someone ends him.

This fuckstain needs to die a painful death. I understand the mom agreeing to the plea deal but fuck this asshole. He needs to die, now.

https://slatereport.com/news/father-who-murdered-his-three-young-sons-execution-style-weeps-in-court-as-he-listens-to-his-wifes-heartbreaking-letter-and-is-jailed-for-life/

A father who lined up his three sons and shot them dead will spend the rest of his life in prison after accepting a plea deal.

Chad Doerman, 33, admitted to killing his sons Clayton, 7, Hunter, 4, and Chase, 3, when he was arrested on June 15, 2023, in Monroe Township, 20 miles east of Cincinnati.

Doerman initially faced 21 charges, including nine counts of murder, and the plea deal took the death penalty off the table.

His then-wife, Laura Doerman, told the court she approved of the plea deal, which removed the need for her to re-live the murders during a trial.

‘I am in full agreement with how the criminal case was resolved, and the decision to end this criminal case with a plea and multiple life sentences brings some finality to the court case for my daughter and me,’ she told the court through a victim advocate.

‘No punishment will ever bring my boys back. Having a guarantee that he will spend the rest of his life behind bars is what is best for my family.

‘Remember them as the three little boys who loved fishing, go-carting, and swimming. Remember them as the little boys who were always at the baseball fields or running around outside.

Prosecutors have previously claimed Doerman planned the executions for months.

Doerman lined the boys up before fatally shooting them with a rifle, also injuring their mother when she tried to protect them.

Chief prosecutor David Gast said during Doerman’s arraignment that one of the boys tried to flee into a nearby field but Doerman ‘hunted’ him down and brought him back to their home before killing him.

Another call came from a passing motorist who said a girl was running down the street saying her father was killing people.

The deputies found three boys outside the home with gunshot wounds and tried to save their lives, but the children died at the scene.

Haunting police bodycam footage shows the moment officers arrived to find Doerman calmly seated next to his rifle moments after executing his young sons.

Doerman was detained without incident after he was found on the steps of his Ohio property.

‘I ain’t gonna hurt nobody,’ Doerman told arresting officers as he told them that his dog wouldn’t bite them.

‘Shut up, dude. You have the right to remain silent. F**king use it,’ a deputy tells him.

‘He just snapped,’ Keith said. ‘There was something going on in his life that he couldn’t handle no more. I can’t talk to him, they aren’t letting me talk to him so I don’t have any answers. He probably hid a lot of stuff from me.’

Detective Michael Ross said Doerman said during an interview that, ‘The Bible says you kill your first born, you kill your second born, you kill your third born.

‘But first you’re supposed to kill your wife. I didn’t kill my wife.’

I’ve read that men who are in prison for child abuse find themselves on the bottom of the hierarchy, and are treated very poorly by fellow prisoners.  I hope that’s the case.

That's probably because a lot of men in prison for violent crimes were themselves abused.

Remember reading about this (on this very site) when it first happened.

Hope the surviving mother and daughter are somehow finding a way to enjoy life after going through that.
