COYS!!!!

You are not kidding - he is on fire right now.

A very solid win, puts them solidly near the top spot of the league. I am hearing most people see 15 points as the advancing number.

BTW - Spurs first 4 matches knock out their Pot 2 and 3 teams. Matchday 5 & 6 are the Pot 1 teams (Roma and Rangers) and they wrap up matchdays 7 & 8 hit the pot 4 teams.

Somone want to give me a quick summary on how Europa works as far as advancing etc?

I said it here a few weeks back, but let's dive in a touch more.

Like Champions League - with the expanded field for the "main stage" of play from 32 to 36 teams kind of destabilized the natural flow to the KO round. 4 more teams would have added 1 more group, but while 8 groups works, 9 groups breaks things. Instead of groups that fed into the KO round, they changed to this thing called the "Swiss model" which is like a giant 36 team league with a table. Teams will play 8 games with the usual 3-1-0 scoring. When the 8 games are done, the top 8 teams advance to the round of 16. Teams 9-16 are seeded against teams 17-24 that are unseeded. The winners of 9-16 v 17-24 then play against the the seeded 1-8 teams.

That was how teams advance.

As far as the 8 teams you would face? That was based on a draw much like what we know. Teams were put into pots by their coefficient best 9 teams pot 1, next 9 in pot 2, etc to pot 4. But instead of being drawn into groups, they were drawn 8 opponents they would play across the matchdays. Two from each pot, home and away. You couldn't face anyone from your own country and you couldn't play a country more than 2x times (IE 3 teams from Italy for example).

That was fucking pathetic.

Ange needs to be questioned.  Our defenders should be facing an inquest.  Just an awful second half.

You know, a lot of people question whether or not this is just a feature, not a bug, of Ange ball. But if you look at the way we're giving up goals... Very rarely is it because we're caught too far up the field or out of position.

Last year it was set pieces.

This year, our defenders just have a tendency to turn their brains off and it's infuriating. They're in position, and then they just don't move. Romero ball watching against Vardy, long throw ins get in behind... Hell, on Brighton's third goal, both Cuti and Porro are right there and neither of them fucking move. They just fucking stand there and watch like they are Case McCoy or something.

If our defenders could just focus and mark someone in front of them when the opponents have the ball in the final third, we'd be in the top 4.
