I know we’re still buzzin about packing city’s fudge, but no signings is a major bummer.

i was talking about this with my mom yesterday and here’s the way i see it:

arteta is going to be here 2-3 decades we hope. basically our entire starting 11 + meaningful bench players will still be in their primes for years to come. january business is so, so difficult because whoever you bring in, that club has to replace. ipso facto you get bent over a table during negotiations, assuming you can even get that far since nobody is trying to sell isak, gyorkores, or osimhen in the middle of the season. over paying like that is just not how our club does business.

if we get second in the league again this year then it will hurt, and fans will be pissed, and we’ll hear “arteta out” and all that bullshit again. but thinking long term, even if that happens, so long as we being in a top flight striker or scoring LW next summer then we stand to be the class of the EPL going forward, and i will have enjoyed these last three years as runners up all the same. now if we don’t bring in a prolific goal scorer this summer, then i will be really questioning wtf our board/manager are doing for the first time since Arteta’s hiring.

Yeah, the first choice striker wasn’t coming this window, and I would not have wanted to sign someone who would have limited the serious business we face this summer: midfield needs a rework with Partey and Jorginho leaving on frees. We’ll be two LBs fewer after Tierney leaves and Zinny likely gets sold. The club have a decision on Trossard to sell or replace. Oh, ahd we still need a striker. That’s a lot of work

That said, I would have liked to see an addition who could take sone of the minutes off Kai. But onward we go.

2 EPL teams brought in zero players, Arsenal and Liverpool.   I get that it’s rare to sign someone that’s a difference maker in January but we really needed a body.   Maybe this means they have some positive news on Saka, I’d just assumed he’d be done for the year barring something like a UCL semi final/final.

January isnt the real issue, it was the summer.   Once again not addressing the front line was a huge risk, and it blew up I. Their face likely costing Arsenal a title, at the very least cost them of being in competition for it the last month of the season (barring a Pool choke of epic proportions).

Which gets me to Edu.   How much of this is his fault?   Or was he hamstrung which is what lead him to leaving?

As for the coming summer, everything is pointing to Arsenal signing Zubimendi to replace Partey.   Then pray they are able to actually sign a couple difference makers up top.

Sunday: MLS does the Haaland, after being told “Who the eff are you?! Shut up!” and “Stay humble, eh…” in the reverse fixture.

The PL on Wednesday: Oh noes!!! 115 FC got their wittle feewlings hurt! Never again!!!”

Anthony Gordon does Saka’s flag celebration: [crickets] Nothing to see here. Just a good ol “try hard” lad from a “try hard” Northern club doing his best.

MLS does the Haaland: this is too much and mockery must be stopped.

Yup. If Ødegaard finishes his chance… maybe. Then again, they’re killing us on the break and probably would have scored at some point.

We’re unlikely to score four at this point; need to get out of here with no injuries, no red cards, and let the waters of Dubai work their regenerative magic again.

Fuck this season in its goat ass.

Martinelli will miss “more than a month.” That’s Leicester, West Ham, Forest, and CL 1st leg. And that’s if he’s back in tour weeks. Any longer, and he’ll also miss manure, CL 2nd leg, and Chelsea.

Tierney at left wing incoming, and Sterling will have to play lots of minutes.

Awesome, but only if he’s healthy. Rush him back too soon, and I fear we risk him suffering from repeat hamstring issues as Reese James has.

Signing more goalkeepers than attacking players since summer 2023 isn’t looking great, Bob. Dude absolutely ran his ass off (to the point of collapsing after one) for 95’ every match; this was bound to happen and likely will to more players unless we go 6-4-0.

He’s quite good at football. Benny Blanco is such a massive part of how we play: the overlapping runs that create space for Øde to operate, the crosses, and the shithousery.

Welcome back, Benjamin.
