Stearns won a thriller at Roland Garros.

— Blew 5 match points in set 2.

— Won set 3 in a 10 point breaker, 10-6.

— Peyton thought she had match won in tiebreaker at 7-4, started trotting to the net. Then umpire reminded that final set breaker goes to 10. To her credit, she kept her composure and closed it out with a great service winner.

Up next is Kasatkina (seeded 10), who leads their H2H 3-0.

1 & 2, enjoy the airport bar.

Enjoy the Louvre!

Have a long boozy lunch at Versailles.

check out the view from the Sacre Coeur or the Tour Eiffel before heading to London to catch the Champions League Final with Jozy.

IN MEN’S:

If Tiafoe had lost (won in 5 sets), Sebastian Korda would have been a match or two from sliding into the 4th Olympic spot.
as it is, Tiafoe is in the lead, but he needs to get his shit together.

Kenin v. Garcia at 5a for the early crew.

Good to see Kenin back in form. Also happy to see another French player lose. We're barely out of the first round and I'm already sick of their stupid 'ole! shit.

Kenin looked really good and was helped by Garcia seemingly being a shit for brains.

Garcia has a strong serve, when it lands in, has a powerful forehand, and has tons of experience playing doubles, so she should be good at the net, but…

She plays like she’s got a double-digit IQ. She doesn’t understand the concept of adjusting her strategy and doesn’t seem capable of determining her opponent’s strengths/weaknesses.

I like the way Kenin plays when she’s on her game and has a draw that could see her advance to the quarterfinals or further if she can get past the Ostapenko/Tauson* winner.

*Tauson in the 1st round of the 2021 French Open against Jennifer Brady was one of the most impressive power matches I’ve ever seen any woman play, including Sabalenka, Rybakina, Serena, Steffi, Venus, Naomi… any woman.

Brady was coming off losing in the Aussie Open Final to Osaka and played really well, but Tauson just smashed her off the court. Point after point, but then with a Lenny from “Of Mice and Men” facial expression after each point. It was insane, but she has never matched that level.

I expect Ostapenko to advance.

From 2-5 down, Iga reels off 5 straight.

Good luck in the presser (if you show), Naomi.

She may need a mental health break after this. Besides, she can’t be criticized because she already has the toughest job in the world, being a mother.

HAHAHAHAHA - Watching replay on TC - Figured at 3-0 in 3rd, and the way Naomi was playing, it was safe to venture in to this thread. Jeez.

Note to Welshy:

Never check a tennis thread on any site before the handshake of a replayed women's match. Facts.

Tennis Channel is showing the Swiatek v Osaka match again.

3rd Set 1-0 ad out to Osaka

EDIT:

Osaka breaks.

Swiatek couldn’t handle a Top 200 men’s player. She has nothing when facing power. She has to wait for the opponent to snap.

Wow. Peyton takes out Daria 7-5, 6-2

Third round: plays winner of Azarenlka v. Andreeva. That’s a winnable match for Peyton.

An NCAA Champ Longhorn in Round 3 of Roland Garros is damn cool!

Hook’em Peyton.

Vika/Mirra playing 3.

Bianca & Navarro won, Jelena bounced by Tauson, Amanda got fucking thrashed.

I’m watching Azarenka v Andreeva and I am falling asleep.

-Perhaps it is due to the fans being asleep.
-Perhaps it’s because the players aren’t screaming and playing to the crowd.
-Perhaps it’s because there are only two cameras and it feels like you are watching a college match.

My go this is boring to watch.

Also, Andreeva isn’t wearing a hat, headband, or visor, and I now realize that she has the hairline of a medieval Dutch woman.
