Aggy once that Schloss buyout money runs out:

Shoot, that will be early next week if Fuck Chip Brown is correct on his figures that LaVio and Grahovec got from them ($500k/400k)....

Aggy spends/burns $$ quicker than a sailor on leave in the Philippines.

Contacted a search firm 2 days after Schloss didn’t show up to the 12th man meeting and somehow ended up with a coach that is under qualified. Yeah that checks out.

Plan I finally hit for Alberts. Landed his 9th choice.

If your gonna hire a volunteer assistant. He should of kept that to himself. What a fucking aggy dipshit move

Would have been perfect is he had talked to 12 coaches.

We talked to 9 coaches and hired the cheapest option

Not the flex you think that is, Trav

Doesn’t specify that he only talked to baseball coaches for the baseball opening. He may have considered a quidditch, equestrian or meat judging coach to lead the legendary aggy baseball program.

Only because the first 8 turned him down man

We are now watching Texas’ post-Dodds/pre-CDC shitshow happening 90 miles east.

You don’t say anything except you identified Earley from the start as the guy, he had a compelling vision for the program, all the players and major BMDs were behind him and he was was choice #1

Instead, it sounds like they got turned down 8 times before they settled on the former assistant who was an unpaid volunteer prior and has less than, what, 8 years of collegiate coaching experience? All because he was cheap and held the team together

It's really a disaster hire.

And you can just pander to the fan base by saying Earley never wanted to leave CS for Austin and he considered aggy to be home

But they borked it

Not sure that Trev could actually say all that with a straight face.

It doesn't just sound like it, that's exactly what it looks like. All of the names floating around for five days and you come up with Earley?

It's good for keeping a lot of the team together, and stopping the bleeding so I'll give them that. Also smart coupling him with an actual HC... but then what? Who do they go to in a few years when this fails miserably?

Trev will be gone by then, so it will be someone else's problem.

I still can't believe the big goober left his alma mater for Collie Station.

Unless he pissed off a lot of people at UNL, which is plausible. If not, he'll wish he stayed put soon.

Lulz, and texags was claiming that Early had "hostage face" during the UT press conference...

Best case is that guy just has a face that looks like he's captive all the time, but pretty sure I recognize:

Nah, that's not hostage face, he probably just spotted a sophomore doing the wrong hand signals or some shit.

This is the closest they've been in 85 years (itsbeen85years.gif), if they had no shot with any of the Top 10 or so coaches out there then this was probably best case for them.  Promote the guy that most of the team liked, bring in a former head man as assistant, bring back most of the players you had last year, and try to make hay now.

Then hope that momentum can be parlayed into good recruiting and an angry alumni base will throw more money at baseball NIL to get back at Schloss and the evil sips to continue the talent inflow.

It's a gamble, but I think it's their best bet under the circumstances.

They made an emotional hire so their players wouldn’t portal to Texas. It’s so sad.

Emotional hire but they also only reached that point because they were incapable of making a big-name hire.

And it wasn't even an RT situation where he led the team to a top 8 finish as an interim.

They made an emotional hire so they would have a puncher's chance of being good enough next year to beat big bad TU and Schloss so their stupid ass fans can pound their chests on social media about how they got the better end of the deal and how they run the state. Ignoring the fact that they will start a sharp decline after 2025 when Earley will then be exposed for the inexperienced coach he is and Texas will be competing for championships on the upswing.

Their coaches in the major sports:

Earley (Baseball)-no experience as a head coach

Elko (Football)-2 years of experience as a head coach at Duke. 16-9 record as a head coach.

Buzz (Basketball)-Been a major disappointment so far.

What could possibly go wrong here with Trev Alberts running the show.

I see nothing at all going wrong there, 4D chess.

I can't imagine he can stay anywhere very long.  He has a unique ability to piss off everyone around him.

I was reading the Nebraska boards and apparently he's a major asshole. The Schloss news came as no surprise to them. Their descriptions of Alberts sounds a lot like Steve Patterson.
