Texas Baseball 2025 - The Schwining tradition starts here...

Hopefully on Tuesdays we start seeing Adrian at 3B, he needs reps at that position. Probably will see Chamberlain at C a lot to give Galvan a day off behind the plate. I want to see Tommy bunt every AB tonight just for the practice and my sanity.

Really need Max to get out of his funk, he is getting dominated by fastballs right now. Pretty remarkable we just picked up a road SEC sweep with him going 1-11 at the plate, that 1 was a big one though

Would like to see Flores or Navarre get the start tonight, not that it matters in the grand scheme of things but would rather Bing come out of the pen if that is what he is potentially going to do on weekends.

Didn't Flores start 2 days ago or am I mistaken?

He did, only threw 55 pitches though. If he did pitch tonight it wouldn’t be more than an inning I would imagine. This coaching staff has certainly got creative getting the most out of this pitching staff, been fun to watch

I'd be pretty surprised if Galvan caught tonight. He was already banged up heading into last weekend, then caught 14 innings on Sunday.

Farmer's defense is good enough to where you can probably stick him in the 9 hole and let him fight through things. Outside of him and Winfield, can't really think of any viable options unless they throw a Jonah Williams hail mary or something unexpected.

I would assume the freshman position players outside of Rodriguez and Chamberlain (Scott, Luna, Jordan and Richardson) are all redshirting at this point if you haven't played 18 games into the season even in blowouts.

I'm selling 2 of my tickets for Friday and Saturday's LSU games. As much as I love taking my kids to the games, they won't make it the whole game and I'd like to get some good loud fans in the seats to help with the fan support. I'm selling them for about half what the suggested price is on SeatGeek to make sure they go to UT fans instead of LSU fans.

Eh, we were due for a loss

Vol fans aren't shitting bricks and wetting their pants over their extra inning loss to ETSU last night.  Midweek games are shit.

Someone on OB said they are friends with Duplantier's dad, and he said Dre is fine.

Hopefully that is the case...His dad came down towards the dugout when Dre walked off the field, but he was pretty much waved off and headed back up. I never even saw Dre leave the dugout and head to the locker room.

Hopefully what ever it was is minor and precautionary.

Good luck. Ridiculous as to what they are going for on the commercial sites.

If I was smart I would put two up for sale this weekend to pay for my season but I enjoy going to the games too much.

Itty-bitty-kitty complaints about there not being enough seats at DFF incoming in 3, 2, 1......

And people wanting Pierce prices 😂

No more cheap tickets like the $5 Randall's tickets in the DKR-TMS horseshoe (the old North End, before it was demolished and rebuilt/expanded, for you kids) in the 90s.  Lulz.

The old horseshoe North End is in the bottom-center in this picture (the foreground).

Is there something wrong with thinking we should expand the stadium?

No, there isn't.  I don't know what the number should be, but our % capacity number has to be pretty high and there are a bunch of larger SEC stadiums that routinely sell out.

I'd like to see us about about 2k-3k as part of a complete rebuild. But, I know that ain't happening (the rebuild).

If anyone has 3 for Sunday let me know. I'm bringing my son and wife up Saturday morning,  we got tickets for Saturday night (*gulp*) but nothing yet for Sunday.

Been a while since I've been to a game in Austin, looking forward to it

Typically, in the past I would find street parking east of the stadium. Is that still a good option?

Not sure,  but the softball team is hosting Auburn about 2-3 hrs prior to baseball each day and the women's tennis team is hosting LSU Friday at 2PM and Ole Miss 12PM Sunday.

May want to check the new parking area by the LBJ Library.

Only if you get there at least 2 hrs early. Even then, very few spaces as the grad students seem to be using up the street instead of the parking garage.

The parking lots east though have finally been opened up for games and using your phone you can park in those surrounding the softball field for $10. But still get there early. This weekend will fill up quickly.

Nope, I agree with you!

I've been saying for years, including on here, that The University should get the Austin City Council to give the go-ahead to close off Comal Street.

Expand the stadium to have outfield stadium seats with a 360-degree continuous concourse and enclose the field (like Daikin Park and many other baseball stadiums like it). You can walk the entire concourse and still see the field.

A stadium of that capacity will be comparable to the other SEC baseball stadiums, at the very least.

Gonna be awhile with that most likely.

The city is the holdup right now for putting in stands behind left field due to that stupid road that only goes to the parking garage (that the majority of baseball fans now can't even use 😡). UT owns the land on both sides of the road (ballfield to tennis courts) and wants to to move the scoreboard in left farther back to put in seats behind the left field wall with the scoreboard moved farther back behind them, but due to the city balking on closing/giving up the road right now that isn't even happening.

We don’t sell out though. The disch is damn near empty most of the season.

I don’t mind expansion, although I am against adding outfield seating, but I really don’t see much reason for it other than a series or two each year.
Plus another renovation will likely fuck with a lot of longtime season ticket holders which is who actually goes to the games. I dunno about @BillyGoatHill but the last one def moved us back some.

It sounds like The University/big-cigars need to exert some pressure/influence akin to what Frank Erwin had way-back-when to move the city council on this.

There are definite ways to improve the stadium and expand, likely upwards. I said in the Pierce thread but it would be cool to have student zone like other stadiums in the SEC have.

The luxury boxes need to be upgraded too.

It won't be during SEC play.

Or the rest of the season when we get rolling again.

Yes it will. Regardless of how good we’ve been the disch never is full outside a series or two each year.

tear it down. copy some of the very nice minor league stadium (whataburger field). add seats. concessions need a much better lay out. add more suites and some kind of outfield seating / student area  (move score boards)

locker room upgrades

No Way Beer GIF by Busch

Plenty of room for expansion and seats down the walkway on left field.

$10 million has already been talked about for redoing the area under the stadium where the concessions are now.

The suites as they are now are EMPTY for the majority of games. Not sure how that is a priority. Maybe that changes with the SEC now, but in the past, only big series plus regionals and Supers are they full.

Outfield seating is already in the works for left field (dumbass city give up that road in left) plus another Yeti yard in right (space is there now)

Upgrade the Locker room ?? Not sure what is wrong with this....

The $10M project is likely a $9.9M project for future reference on these kinds of things that might pop up again for any of the sports. CDC doesn't have to get BoR approval for projects below $10M. There've been a few $9.9M projects already and the concessions area is likely another.

Backing up the I35 access road (or MLK) with all the garage traffic would be a shitshow so I can understand why the city would oppose that road behind the left field wall being closed.

long before that (early 1980s) they were simply called "knot-hole" tickets and had no corporate sponsor. as a kid we would roam the south endzone seats with our friends (seats were 20% occupied except A&M). a few bucks for a ticket, a few bucks for a hot dog and damn we were living large.

Long before that, in the early 70s, I was in the seats underneath the West side overhang until that fateful year that had multiple rain games.

Then the suddenly-desirable "Options" seats on the West side Upper Deck moved to underneath the West side overhang. We moved to the West side Upper Deck seatback seats (formerly the "Options" seats) in Section 104 and enjoyed many decades of seasons there.
