Texas Baseball 2025 - The Schwining tradition starts here...

They need to operate every series with the mindset of going all out to win the first two games. TBA every game 3 and push all your chips in the first 18 innings every weekend. We are already at 16 conference wins, even if we drop a series or two down the stretch, we have built up more than enough cushion from a hosting standpoint. Hell, a disaster 4-8 finish where we lose every series still gets us to 20 conference wins and a likely national seed.

The only time you will need to win 3 games in 3 days is in a regional and if you can draw a very weak 4 seed you can manage that as a 2 game series as well. Everything else (regular season, super regional, CWS) can be managed by doing everything to win the first two games.

Bing will get dinged. Not the guy I would go with.

Maybe.  A&M's best hitters are left handed.  You need a credible left handed breaking ball against them.   I mean, you need Spencer but he's not available so you have Harrison, Bing, Walker, and Volantis that can do that.  I like Volantis too much in the closer role to move him.  Walker is just getting his feet wet.  There's another lefty down there who's played a little (name escapes me) but hasn't been used in conference that I can recall.

I hope they bite the bullet this week and move Ruger to Friday (possibly on a pitch count) and keep Luke on Saturday. Ruger has been the best arm on the team with the exception of Volantis.

Going to be tough without Jared, not really worried about replacing his production but it forces everyone else to take a step forward. Having Ruger on Sunday was a massive advantage and although Ruger will still deal like he has all year, you lose that advantage.

Pitching has carried this team all year, time for the offense to take some of the pressure off them

EDIT: Even if Spencer’s injury ends up being minor, he shouldn’t throw another pitch in the regular season.

Coach really likes how Jonah Williams comports himself on the field and in the dugout. That when given the chance he took full advantage of it and will be in left field for the foreseeable future.

Said that Connor McCreery was ready to pitch and he wanted to get him in the last Auburn game, but the run rule ending prevented that. That they want to get him in the Texas State game and have a look at him.

He said he wanted a pitching staff with all hands-on deck and able to contribute. Think the injuries to the staff have proved him correct on that.

They haven't gotten a final word on Spencer, but he would not pitch this weekend. That they will have to evaluate things when they know if and when he can pitch and how much.

They are hitting .257 in conference play and that's after the recent improved play.  Pitch around or keep Laviolette in the ballpark and this lineup is pretty soft.  Bear Harrison is their best hitter in conference play and he's a righty.  Henseler has a little pop from the right side but there's really not much to fear after Laviolette and Sorrell.  Kent is hitting .274 in conference play......Kash .226 lol.

I’m probably the outside opinion here. I’ve seen too many college teams hold onto their “closer” in 3 game series, only to hardly be used. OSU comes to mind. Maybe LSU this year.

If you have injuries, make the adjustments using the best players available. Volantis is worthless on the bench or coming into a game in the 8th when we are down 5 runs. Why not have him start?

Was funny watching Jonah once he was on base. He was so busy dancing to the next batter’s walk up music he completely ignored the 3B coach trying to give him info:calls etc.

Was fun seeing a young man just enjoying the hell out of the moment. Also that bunt he laid down was a beauty. Duplantier dreams of laying a bunt down like that.

He was a little lackadaisical in LF on a fly ball he could’ve got under easier so that is an area of slight concern but man o man is this young man fun to watch play

I think the wind was messing with a few of those. Gaspo had similar issues.

That's what it appeared like to me, as well. They each had to adjust some right before the catch on multiple fly balls on Saturday.

Except that’s not how Texas uses him. Schloss and MW aren’t failing to use him, he’s not riding the bench at all. He’s ensuring series wins with two appearances in 5 conference series including LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Kentucky, and Miss State. He stays in the closer role and gives Texas the best chance in that role to win the series by the end of game 2.
