This - at a 15k ballpark. Which will still only be half full :D

If they are lucky.

A sad end to a once legendary baseball team. Also: entirely deserved and self-inflicted.

I'm pretty sure we agreed to play in this tournament after Schloss was hired, which was interesting because we already had the Arlington tournament on the schedule and you don't usually see SEC teams have 2 challenging weekends in non-con play.

My guess is we will end up with one of the toughest non-con SOS in the league. Winning 2 out of 3 in both tournaments would set us up very nicely heading into league play from a RPI standpoint.

Our first opponent, Washington, has had a rough go of it so far.  3-6 with a 6+ team ERA and .214 BA.  Lost 4 straight to Stanford.  UW took 2 of 3 from us last year but I haven't looked to see who from that team is still there.

...and probably should have won the last game too. Do not sleep on the Huskies.

They lost mostly everyone off that team. Similar to last year, I think they have big problems at the plate. Hitting .214 as a team through 9 games.

I do see their Friday night guy is off to a good start (1.50 ERA in 12 innings). He is a D3 transfer.

Well we're #52 in RPI right now, so it hasn't done us a lot of good so far.  It could be worse though.  We could be #175 like aggy.

It's a good spot to be in this early. You have teams with a 2-5 record like Omaha and Toledo who are top 20 in RPI right now. Or 0-3 Penn at #47 in RPI.

As those teams lose to more crappy teams, they will plummet, and the big boys will rise.

As a former A's fan, I wish John Fisher only the worst in every aspect in his life. Some aggressive prostate cancer would be a fun start.

Imagine moving from Seattle to College Station.

On purpose.

Kelly had a tremendous first year, and the wheels fell off in year two. He bailed on a shitty program that has not been relevant since they fired Knutson. I was not happy when he left UW but it was the right move, any success at AtM this year gives him any job he wants.

Las Vegas Tournament schedule.

This Tournament is being streamed on D1Baseball.

For any other Horns making the trip, that 11am start Sunday morning in Vegas will separate the die hards from the rest of us.

I put the odds of me being in any condition to attend a baseball game at that time at +600

I mean there's a legit possibility I will still be awake at 11. I can roll up to the park and take a nap when we're up 8-1 on Illinois.

Just looked at Washington’s schedule… they’re 3-6 with a lop sided win over K-State, got crushed by coastal Carolina… 4 game sweep at the hands of Stanford

Still early in the year. This team is talented and will get hot at some point.

Am I only one who didn’t know Adrian Rodriguez can throw with both arms?

One of the D1baseball guys was interviewing Schloss and he mentioned the story of how they found Rodriguez. He showed up at an A&M camp and Schloss had no idea who he was. Walked by the cage and watched Rodriguez hit 4 balls over 100 MPH exit velo left handed then flipped around and did the same thing right handed. Then trotted out to the field and took ground balls at third base before grabbing a left handed first base glove and going to first base.

I know you have read every single post on this thread.

I looked up the Rodriguez commit and he looks really good.  Interestingly, he is ambidextrous and even has a glove that can be used either way.  He is a switch hitter and good from both sides.  He has played some first base and plays that left handed.  Sounds like a really good pick up by Schloss.

Unfortunately all the tweets from back then are long gone.

These fuckin tournaments and their exclusive $40 streaming platforms that barely have a score bug

Does D1 even have TV app or do I have to mirror it from my phone like the stone ages?

I assume @immamac is gonna provide us with a link to watch this shit

I hate the rule baseball has that the pitcher has to pitch with the same arm during an at-bat. At some point it was determined that it was "too much of an advantage" for a pitcher to switch arms during the at-bat.

I bet he owns some of these neato ambidextrous gloves!  Lulz.

Last time I was in Vega$, I saw a hooker hanging out on the Luxor end of the underground moving-sidewalks between Luxor and Excalibur.

A few things that stick out when looking at the stats through 10 games:

-Flores back up over .300 (.306) very quickly

-Gasparino is at .220 but it feels like his at bats have been much better than last year for the most part

-Chamberlain is 1 for 11 with 7 walks. He doesn’t look overwhelmed but not sure how sustainable that walk rate is. My guess is another DH option will emerge.

-I guess you have to give Farmer everyday at bats right now (.286) over Winfield but I hope they keep Winfield in the mix at DH.

-Duplantier with the 0.00 ERA because like usual he only allows inherited runners to score before buckling down

-Grubbs has been awesome.

-.217 batting average against for the entire staff shows how much better the pure stuff is on the mound. If I remember right, last year our batting average against ended up in the .260’s.

-We are allowing almost one less walk per 9 innings compared to last year so far

Indeed. 0.585 slugging giving him a .904 OPS. Pretty great for a .220 batting average.

Exactly. Still placing way too much emphasis on batting average. But more walks would be nice.
