Max is good and all, but he is not a key starting pitcher...and then our other starting pitchers just start sucking.

If Galvan and Rodriguez are alright I think we should be ok.

But we obviously don't have enough depth for too many more of these.

the thing about Max and Rodriguez is that they are our two left handed guys. that is a big deal against good teams with good pitching.

Borba in left - farmer in right - rodriguez at 3rd - hold on to your butts

He has been lost. But you have to see if Winfield sinks when given the grand opportunity no? The lefty bat, history of power and speed you know the staff wants to unlock confidence in some way and this is his chance.

It could be argued that Winfield has already been given the grand opportunity and Schloss has given him plenty of leash. It’s not like Farmer is lighting the world on fire at the plate, he’s just more consistent and puts the ball in play.  I like Farmer but he’s still raw as a player and none of us expected him to start more games than Winfield, and the games Winfield does start, Farmer usually subs in later. I also think we’re past the Antico deadline for Winfield. I hope not though because the options behind him are Duplantier or unknowns like Scott.

The real difference between Antico and Winfield is that Antico was a "redshirt senior" and Winfield is a "sophomore."

Looks like Duplantier may get a look if Winfield doesn't come around.

Winfield tries to pull everything, even in his limited playing time, teams are using the extreme shift on him.

I can't believe that Tulo hasn't worked with him about taking pitches the other way or bunting some too. This applies to Farmer too; the bunt being used and the whole field when batting being used.

Freshman Rodriguez even just slapped a pitch the other way batting lefty for single. when that shift was used on him.

That same shift is being used against Chamberlain, who will getting more time at catcher.

Schloss talked about this with Chamberlain in that Orangebloods video.

The same things I and others have talked about here.

Are they not really a redshirt senior and sophomore? Is there some question as to the veracity of their status?

Winfield is automatic out at this point - hope he can turn it around but if not - we should use duplantiers speed and bunting to our advantage in the 9 hole. Schloss ain’t bunting btw. Why did I even think  that lmao

Remind me what the Antico Effect is again? He sucked then was good or something?

Started super slow and then flipped a switch

Antico did play more ball coming to Texas but Winfield batting .332 as a freshman and then looking lost as a goose in a hail storm at the plate as a transfer is not good. The Antico comparison is coming from the fact they both hit the ball well in lower conferences and struggled to get acclimated against better competition. Antico eventually turned it on while we’re still waiting for Winfield to find his groove. Maybe he’s going through a sophomore slump and playing in the SEC isn’t helping the adjustment. I think it’s easier on Rodriguez to go the other way because he already has the ability to hit the ball inside out.

Antico "was" a redshirt senior because he is now out of eligibly and no longer on the team.

Winfield "is" currently a sophomore on the Texas Baseball team.

The quotation marks were used to denote the difference between the two in their first year on the team.

It was Antico's only season on the team.

The length that Winfield stays on the team is yet to be determined.

I think the sharp split in the way older people use quotations for emphasis and younger people use them for sarcasm is one of the most interesting features of written English. The two meanings are completely different!

Idiots use quotes for emphasis. It's absolutely incorrect.

As long as they are not capitalizing the whole damn word, i can let it slide...

Otherwise this is just a battle of blowhards...

Looking through some stats today and was surprised to see that we only have 4 guys hitting above .280 in conference play (Mendoza, Gasparino, Galvan and....Borba). Flores is all the way down at .200.

A few other things that stuck out:

-We have the best team ERA in conference play

-.272 team average in SEC is 8th out of 16 teams

-We are walking more than last year and striking out a tad less. I guess that is a good sign for the overall approach even if it feels frustrating some games

-We are going to surpass last year's stolen base number easily despite losing some good speed (Thomas, Kennedy, Brown). Overall base running has been a plus.

Have they put out any official word on Max? I didn't get to watch most of last nights game, except the really shitty part.

Schloss was interviewed on OTF yesterday morning (on the Coffee and Football show) and said that Max has ligament damage and needs surgery. But if it goes well he could be back for the post season or potentially as early as the OU series.

Has anyone had any success buying parking on the second hand market in the East Campus Garage? Is it reliable? Headed up for the Saturday game and trying to figure out the best logistics for parking with a toddler in tow

I sell mine occasionally on games I can’t go to, and have transferred them to friends. No one has ever said it didn’t work.

I bought a pass for the UTSA game a few weeks ago. It only showed 1 available but maybe I was looking at it wrong. It worked but the fees were 20 something on a 7 dollar pass. Still cheaper than the other options I guess.

They have been having the gravel lots behind right field and around the softball field open with a scan code on signs around the lots. Scan the code, type in the lot zone (they all seem to be 96125 if I remember right) type in license plate, and good until midnight or so. $10.

Only one Sunday (LSU) was there a snafu and the scan codes didn't work, everyone parked there anyway for free.

Still get there early though as parking this year is even more of any issue with UT giving the parking garage across from the Disch to the grad students  (and they aren't using it 😡)

If that number was "90125", had references to "Leave It" and "Yes" in it, that would've gotten some chuckles.
