Both are better call in shows than “Coach Fisher watching his wife.”

Not sure about your math there, buddy. I think i'd rather watch Jimbo watching himself get cuck'd than Sumlin fall down or RC...do anything.

Also, FYI, A&M's other TE "commit" - Caleb Tafua, from California - visited USC for Junior Day, and then said this:

"What stood out to me was mostly kids I grew up playing youth football with," said Tafua. "USC's main thing was talking about keeping Cali kids in Cali.

"Keeping all of that talent (on one team). We could beat Ohio State."

USC hiring Chad Savage as inside receivers coach is one major change in Tafua's recruitment since his commitment to Texas A&M. Tafua had a relationship with Savage prior to his appointment with the Trojans and the two have picked up where they left off last year.

"Talking with coach Savage, he was one of the first coaches to recruit me when he was at Colorado State," said Tafua. "Just seeing him coming back to his hometown and him telling us how he is going to develop me… because he is the tight ends and slots coach.

"He knows a lot about the game, and I feel like kids out here in Southern California are used to him. I think that's a big change and will make a big impact in USC recruiting."

The combination of USC's location and the recruiting prowess of Savage make the Trojans an intriguing option.

"USC is like a next-door neighbor — it's like a 15 minute drive," said Tafua. "I don't have to take a flight out there.

"Yesterday was a good experience seeing all the kids I knew from youth football and all of the talent in SoCal. They want to keep the Cali kids home, so yeah, I felt like a priority."

He was one of several OOS guys that committed after the win over the paper tigers of LSU.  I'm sure The Elk put the pressure on kids with them being a "real program" at the time.  He won't be the last OOS guy to decommit.  I'm betting the other kid from Georgia won't last either.

Yeah, that WR, correct? I'd bet he decommits within a month or so. Why would a WR want to go to an offense that barely throws the ball? I'd bet Jerome Myles got a pretty big NIL package, otherwise it makes zero sense why he would go there.

I bet he hits the portal after year one or year two.

Another Aggie de-committed.

From Andrew Hattersley (Aggie 247):

"Ryan Gilbert reopened his recruitment. This was an early commitment A&M took and helped with Lamont Rogers, but this was one that was best for both sides with some other big cornerback targets out there."

What other CB targets?  Only two CB's are in the top 30 players in the state in Jalen Lott (ain't happening) and Jermaine Bishop.  Maybe they get ridiculous with NIL for him, but seems like we have as good a shot as any to land him.

Feels like the Elk is trying the Dumbo method of going after majority OOS guys, but it isn't going to work.  Those other two Georgia commits won't last.

Their recruiting has been extremely national this cycle, look at Georgia, Florida, and California.

Kind of doubt that they are upset about this decommitment. My guess is that he was processed.

Do any players ever get a bag to go away? 💰

They say that he helped with a commitment this past cycle and he seems happy to go. Sounds like someone who was paid to go away.

1 Sadly, no one could understand it.

2 See what I mean? A&M being heavy beyond the state of Texas. Prose.

3 Double negatives require patience to decipher. I wonder if his article about the commitment was so gloomy.

This is a tradition the Aggies have. Some loss or disaster happens but they feel it is somewhat diminished if it wasn't a surprise. It's very common in their recruiting coverage and parrot posting.

Well, we knew this was going to happen so losing a recruit/game/natty isn't really a big deal. We knew hitting an iceberg that tore along the side of the ship would sink us, so drowning or freezing to death is not big deal.

Why do these kids commit so early, laments fan of team whose coaches beg players to commit early and pressure them to commit early so they and fans can claim momentum.

I guess they do it so they can crow about their high recruiting ranking in the spring and early summer. Then the wings catch fire and they finish barely in the top ten. Their team never does, so they have to have something.

I mean, the same dynamic plays out during the season, too, so why not?

There's a reason why the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders lists Battered Aggie Syndrome. It's a real phenomenon. Easily the most entertaining mental health disorder on the planet. Although, watching a group therapy session with Tourette's Syndrome patients is pretty good, too. But I don't think a thread about it could come even close to this one for making me laugh.

Is it really a decommitment if it doesn’t say “with that being said …?”

They're still in a state of revelation from all of God's attention to their choice of schools and profoundly moved by their interaction with the coaches they're leaving to be expected to copy and paste with any skill at all.

Aggy continues to get OOS guys.  DL from New Jersey.  Quotes in the commitment article said he's still going to take visits/OV's.
