I guess it was an issue after FSU dunked just before the buzzer.

Perhaps, and I know this is crazy, fight like hell during the game and then shit like this doesn’t happen. We’ve lost three straight, Duke, Louisville and now FSU. The last two were bad losses. Killed on the offensive glass. This team is not terrible but, they are not physical in the least and rebounding is not going well. That has led to too much one-on-one ball and a shit ton of turnovers, 17 last night.

They better grow the fuck up, quickly.

Florida basketball coaching offices must be like a P.Diddy party, wtf is going on down there?

A University of Florida athletics department employee filed a sexual assault complaint against an assistant men's basketball coach Tuesday as the school continues to investigate head coach Todd Golden for alleged Title IX violations that became public in November.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation, reported to the school's Title IX office that in March 2024, assistant men's basketball coach Taurean Green arranged a meeting with her in the athletic facilities, where he kissed her and tried to put his hand down her pants, according to a copy of the complaint reviewed by ESPN.

She pulled his hand away and said no, and he tried again, at which point she got away, according to the complaint. Until that day, she had never been alone with Green and had only exchanged casual greetings with him on campus, she told ESPN in an interview.

Believe me, I have made a shit ton of cracks about those ridiculous uniforms. They are hideous.

You guys have some of the best uniforms in sports when you want to, but my god those were bad.

We’re setting the sport back 50 years.  Thank god this abortion was buried on ESPN+

These matchups always feel more like a knife fight than a basketball game. Even post-Huggins.

At least the Jerry West era throwbacks looked good.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Vitale will not be returning to broadcasting next week after all.

Vitale announced Saturday that he has been hospitalized after a fall at his Florida home. In a post on X, Vitale said doctors told him he is "making great strides" and surgery is not required.

The news comes one day after ESPN announced Vitale would call the Duke-Wake Forest men's college basketball game Jan. 25 at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston Salem, North Carolina, which would have been his first time on air since 2023.

Vitale, 85, has battled four different types of cancer in the past 3½ years. Most recently, he underwent surgery in summer 2024 after a biopsy of a lymph node in his neck showed cancer. Vitale announced on Jan. 8 that he was cancer-free.

"I'm devastated that I won't be courtside with my ESPN buddy Dave O'Brien and with all the players and fans, especially because of the overwhelming response I received when news of my planned return was announced," Vitale said. "I was anxiously awaiting the chance to feel the excitement and energy of a college basketball environment for the first time in nearly two years."

Vitale added that he is expected to make a full recovery, but no timetable for his return to broadcasting has been made.

"Despite this latest setback, I feel blessed to have the support of my family, friends and ESPN teammates," Vitale said. "I'm a lucky guy and as I've said before, I will continue to do whatever it takes to get back to calling the sport I love."

Those were beautiful.

That was a great win for you guys.  Hell of an environment.  I was talking to my dad yesterday morning and he was like “did you know they’re honoring Jerry West?  And the game’s been sold out for a month?  They really want to beat us I guess.”  And they sure did.

I was always impressed with DeVries at Drake, but the way he’s adjusted to Tucker’s injury and switched gears to low scoring brawls is incredible.

As long as you aren't a female getting getting stalked by the head coach.

Surly aside, I am absolutely aware of the propensity of men to be stupid lecherous assholes.  I am also aware of an older colleague who was turned into HR by a 21-year-old paralegal for sexual harassment for the sin of telling her “ you look very pretty today”.

Now, in the year of our Lord 2025 should an old guy tell a young woman that?  No, not unless they were a long time work buddies with a close friendship that eliminated any sexual connotation.    So I know that men can be pigs, and I know that some young women today see misogyny and sexism at every statement and around every corner.    How will this turn out?

I have no idea. We are currently ranked number 5 in the country, and if there is sufficient evidence to fire the guy today, I am all for it.  Even if it burns the program down.   But to be honest, I do not know the details well enough to have an opinion on the credibility of the charges or the credibility of his defense.  We aren’t Baylor and we aren’t FSU.    I do know that there is a pretty well developed HR investigation procedure for things like this, and that they follow it very closely because a wrongful termination will obviously cost them a shit ton of money.  And a botched Baylor like investigation will also lead to the accuser rightfully suing our ass if there is even a whiff  of cover-up.  And I would support that totally.

The one thing I do know with certainty is that investigations will not happen quickly to appease Florida fans who may want the coach cleared - or fans of other schools who want the coach fired.

So we will see.

37 years ago today ‘Rome against Providence. He was always a cool dude in school. I knew him, not as well as some of the other guys but, he was always fun.

Today we held on to beat Syracuse up there in NY. We are so different when we move the ball and get everyone involved. The Hero Ball just doesn’t work. Ended a losing streak so that’s good.

30 point beat down of the mange-ridden, flea-bitten, leg-humping mutts from UGA.    Fuck them in their uglier-than-goat asses.

I unfroze some Thanksgiving turkey gumbo I had made, and I’m sipping a big red while puffing on a joint made by the nice people at LSU for us medical MJ prescription peeps. A good Saturday.
