So I’m watching some of this College Basketball Crown Tournament being played in Vegas and Cincy & DePaul are going at it and there’s this dipshit squawking like some goddamn bird and the surprising thing is he’s not SEC…

College Basketball Crown Tournament

I think this thing is super weird, but starting it the week between the Elite 8 and Final Four is genius.  No competition from March Madness

Except it's basically just Big 12, Big East, Big 10 and some MWC?  (aka, the schools who have Fox contracts)

NBA Lite

I need that meme of the cat with the newspaper and glasses and under it says “should have been a college basketball player during the NIL Wild Wild West era”

You're gonna see a lot of this. BYU just paid $3.5m for one of Baylor's players.

Allegedly. Haven't seen this number from a reputable source, yet.

Big 12 hoops gonna be nasty next season tho.

Reputable sources have claimed that they paid $5 million for AJ Dybantsa so I think I probably believe it

I heard on the radio that Cooper Flagg said that the actual payments aren't anywhere close to what is reported. The hosts speculated it's proably agents inflating numbers for publicity and to drive up payments. With direct compensation coming soon the deals will be public information except for private schools. Not sure if NIL payments from other sources will be public, my guess is probaby not.

I think revenue sharing is probably being rolled into it as well at least for the numbers we're seeing this season

BREAKING: High Point head coach Alan Huss, a Creighton alum, is finalizing a deal to re-join Greg McDermott’s staff immediately as the coach-in-waiting, sources told

@thefieldof68

. McDermott, 60, hasn’t put an exact timeline on his retirement, but sources said that it’ll likely be in the next two seasons. McDermott has won more than 600 games in his career. He took over at Creighton in 2010, and has led the Bluejays to 10 NCAA tournament appearances - including an Elite Eight in 2023. He is 350-171 in his tenure at Creighton and also led the program successfully from the Missouri Valley into the Big East. The plan is for the 46-year-old Huss to leave his head coaching spot at High Point immediately and return to his alma mater to ease the transition once McDermott decides to retire. Huss played at Creighton from 1997-2001 and was an assistant on McDermott’s staff from 2017-2023 before becoming the head coach at High Point. In two seasons in the Big South, he’s gone 56-15 overall and is coming off the school’s first NCAA tournament appearance. The plan allows McDermott to have Huss on staff to ease the transition, allows Huss to be the next head coach at his alma mater and also enables the school to have a plan in place for continuity.

Creighton's a better job than Aggy.

Omaha > College Station.  No football to compete with for resources.  Wealthy alumni that are invested in program.  Averaging like 17-19K in a beautiful newish arena.  Imagine Nebraska football fans with a ton of money and love of hoops.

HCIW is fraught with failures. If I were him I'd continue on the current path of success with an understanding that he's up next at Creighton with McDeromott's blessing. Kelvin is in his 70's and looks as energetic as anyone else, I wouldn't want to speculate how much longer McDermott would coach.

What I have heard is that BYU NIL + Nike + Red Bull is around $7M for AJ.

This is the Baylor player I was referring to yesterday. Twitter embeds were disabled because they're trash, you can change the url to surlyx.com and it will embed an image instead.
