They have to do something about the last 1:00 of college basketball games.  Prior to an ISU game a few weeks ago, there was a game where :10 seconds of game that took 13 minutes of actual time.

They need to move to the Elam Ending/target score - it is a much more enjoyable way to watch a game.

When you say it out loud it sounds like pure hyperbole, but I 100% believe this.

I can't tell you how many games I've just started watching on ESPN+ because of how long the previous game was taking, and then just end up watching the whole game on that app.  Which is exactly what ESPN wants.

The Kentucky-OU game started on TV 44 min after the hour bc of the aggy game. That didn’t even go to OT

Quote

The Texas A&M vs Vanderbilt game was at 3:53 left at 9PM. So, they pushed back Kentucky-Oklahoma’s start 10 minutes to 9:10PM.

At 9:10PM, A&M-Vandy was at 1:51 left. Kentucky-Oklahoma tipped off anyways.

It eventually finished at 9:43PM.

Kentucky-Oklahoma is now on TV, and there are under 7 minutes left in the first half.

There was a play in the Vandy/ AM game where some jawing had been going on and a Vandy player shoulder checked an Agg… immediate review. Just tell them to cool it or it’s a T next time and move on.

ESPN has little to do with the end of games. That same ending could have happened on FS1 or CBS.

The A&M/Vanderbilt ending took that long because of strategy by A&M coaches to just keep fouling.

Also, men’s teams seem to never use timeouts so they’ll always have at least 2-3 per team at the end and those are usually full timeouts and not 30 second ones. The full timeouts will always go the length of the agreed upon commercial break that each conference has with that tv partner.

If ESPN, FS1, or CBS should do anything it’s stop with the 2 hour time windows for games. If that means starting the 6pm central games an hour earlier, then so be it.

Games either need to start 5pm / 7:30pm (ET) or 6pm / 8:30pm (ET) - just give each game an extra 30 minute window

Because like you said, the networks can't do anything about in-game reasons it takes so long (timeouts left at the end of the game, fouling, etc.) - that would require the NCAA to make changes, such as switching to quarters, advancing the ball under 2 minutes, etc.

Also Buzz should be relegated to the latest window possible.  Buzz Ball should be classified as domestic terrorism.

Yes, and rule changes really aren’t the purview of the NCAA rather the majority of rules changes comes from the coaching community as a whole, D1 on down to Juco

I saw part of the OU-UK game and saw that OU was 4-10 in conference and projected as an 11 seed in the tourney. What the hell are we doing here? And they want to add teams? Is the whole conference gonna make it just for showing up? I saw they had two good non conference wins v Mich and Zona but 4-10? C’mon.

There are four SEC teams in the top 6 of kenpom. It's a fucking brutal conference this season.

I wouldn't put OU in the tourney but their NET and kenpom is in line with a bubble team even at 4-11 in conference. SEC wins are massive for metrics and losses are not very punishing.

What an awful fucking look, jesus shit.

Really bad inbounds by Tech (weird because we've been REALLY good about that all year) followed by absolute dogshit offensive possession by Kansas, gross
