I saw it tonight. The movie was really good, if a little slow moving in parts. The acting was top notch, and the visuals, well Eggers is absolutely top notch at those. Definitely worth the price of a ticket.

My thoughts exactly. I'd add that Lily Rose was fantastic. I'd be surprised if she doesn't pick up an Oscar nod in a few weeks.

Agreed.  She was outstanding.

I liked it a lot. Dragged a bit at times, but I can’t think of anything that could be cut out that wouldn’t affect the storyline

Also this.

I’ve always heard a wide range of opinions on that movie.  I never saw it, myself.

It's fine. I like Northman better. But I may need to rewatch The Witch. I haven't seen The Lighthouse. Owe it a watch.

Saw (thread title) this afternoon. Fun watch but nothing super special. Well worth the ticket which is a lot more than most films can say these days. Eggers is stupid talented overall but I felt like certain scenes or stretches were much better than others and the plot got a little muddy. His world-building - especially at a micro level - and ability to immerse you in a magically-realistic period/setting continues to impress.

Dafoe and Hoult fucking crushed it. I thought little Depp was good but she isn't ATJ (which isn't an insult). Screenplay was really impressive.

It's EXCEEDINGLY fucking graphic - in case anyone's 11 year old-daughter is trying to tag along. Much more adult than even The Northman.

Based on the previews and opening credits I thought it was going to be black and white. Mostly dull shades of gray and brown though which is pretty much black and white. Then there's the scene in which the Harding's daughters are introduced. Looked like Willie Wonka compared to the rest of the movie. Thought that was interesting.

Also really dug Dafoe's pipe. Gotta get one of those bad boys
