Seinfeld at Winstar 7-13

Recommended Posts

$400?  And in Oklahoma?  I think the most we paid was probably about $75/seat to see him in Austin.  I think we even saw him once for about $35/seat.

I love him more than anybody, but after 4-5 shows...you realize his set is about 80% the same, and only 20% new.  So once you've seen it, you've kinda seen it.  And his audience Q&A thing is so predictable now, people shout out interesting things.  But he just does the same canned 3 answers each time.  Don't get me wrong, he took the whole art into a completely new space.  And we'll probably pay to see him one more time in Austin before he hangs it up for good.  But $400 and you gotta go to Oklahoma?

Wonderful insight. How does the University move forward without you?

Probably because it's run been run by people much smarter than me.  I just volunteer every now and again.

You may appreciate this as a Seinfeld fan.  Speaking of the University, Under the Bass Concert Hall stage where Jerry typically plays, there's all the dressing rooms and load-in areas and all that.  I was at a meeting one building over and thought, "Ah, what the hell---I'll walk downstairs and see if I magically run into Jerry (he was playing that night).  Obviously, he wasn't.  But ran into a woman who was clearly with his team/agent/manager/whatever.  And sometimes the UTSO will play there, or other visiting orchestras.  So there's a dressing room specifically labeled "Conductor", even though there's nicer, bigger ones.  And she's putting up this sign for Jerry with a run-of-show schedule on it.  And I had to ask, "Why does he pick this dressing room out of curiosity when there's newer ones closer to the stage?"  She said, he likes that it says "Conductor", reminds him of that episode with the Maestro---he picks it everytime he's here."  Thought that was pretty funny and saw myself out.

Was just giving you a hard time since you wrote "Receipt to prove", just seemed like a weird flex.  Hope you have a great time.  At some point soon he's gonna hang it up and get into the grandbaby business, so we'll all be glad we got to see him.

You bought some expensive seats to see a great comedian in Oklahoma.  We're all very proud of you for starting this thread to begin with as you could have just gone to the show and given us a review.  You brought up how much you paid for it, not us.  If you're gonna gamble while you're there, you could have just asked a host to run your rate, and then either way---gotten two free tickets while still enjoying the thrill of the gaming.  But you don't strike me as somebody good at maths.

The receipt to prove part is amazing

Yes, prove with the receipt please.

And it appears it's $200 a ticket not $400 since he got 2 seats. At least I hope so.

Oklahoma is price gouging the suddenly pro Israel MAGAs who have decided they love Seinfeld for the time being.

I mean what’s the deal with these casino names like ‘WinStar’?  The players don’t win, the ticket buyers don’t win.   Shouldn’t they call it ‘LoseStar’?

You can see Kenny Bania in the bingo lounge for a nickel.

"Who are the 'ad wizards' that came up with that one?"

I mean is it $200 per ticket or $400 ticket?  And I'm like, just pick a price and go with it!

"I'm sure they will just 'write it off', Jerry.

That's what they do - ¡WRITE IT OFF!"

Speaking of me, I just got back from Seinfeld's show at Winstar. I did not buy the receipt tickets. I was gifted the show by my lovely other half. My first time seeing him live.

One, Winstar sucks huge donkey balls.

However Seinfeld fucking killed. I laughed an hour straight.

Just funny, non-political comedy done at a very high professional level.

Yeah, aside from hilarious material about the minutiae of life you never give much thought.  And also putting aside he's had 45 years to hone his craft.  Seeing him live is obviously gut-busting funny, but he has this professional economy of words and timing, but doesn't seem rehearsed either-if that makes sense.  The flow of the bits don't actually really make that much sense in the transition sense, but they way he weaves them---it just streams wonderfully.  And he clearly doesn't need the money and loves to be with this family in relative privacy, but you can genuinely see and almost feel how much he loves doing this.  Most comics do, but Jerry has this subtle beam of light that comes out of him, dry as he is, when he's on stage doing what he always had in his bones.

Who opened for him outta curiosity?

Winstar sucks, or it did the last time I saw a concert there. The seating is cafeteria chairs bolted together so everyone is crammed in worse than sitting center seat on a flight.

I saw him for free (no receipt) at Dell Tech World back in May in Vegas, and he was fantastic.  It was probably the same set.  The guy who opened for him was also really good, but I don't remember his name.
