IIRC there was a volleyball podcast that was linked here last year kinda making fun of Ella not jump setting last year after we won (apparently not knowing she was injured), but it’s interesting that the Wisconsin setter doesn’t always seem to jump set either

She was much better not jumping.

SO MUCH BETTER

Yeah, it seems like her mechanics after the injury have been a little off, and I think she had a little bit of a sophomore slump….I feel like if we didn’t have Averi, she might have had more opportunities to gain confidence and figure it out. Seems like a settler at this level should be able to consistently jump set though

Whoever on here said that the Aggies hired the right coach to get them back to the top was correct…that was a good team, and I think they return most of the team next year

Yep. Morrison is going to have them competing for an SEC title next year. Elliot better get his shit together.

Not exactly sold after next year.

Their team is 90% Lednicky who is a 4th-generation aggy. Sometimes it's nice to luck into a star player like that based on circumstances.

Her just dumping there, ugh I miss Ella’s offense

Yeah I just like her overall package better compared to what we have with Avery in there - and that's not a slight to Averi. Not her fault she's not as tall or athletic as Ella, can't block as well or attack as easily, etc. I get that location was sometimes an issue for Ella, but from what I can see, Averi's location wasn't much better. IMHO, Ella also brings a fire to the team that was missing this year with the constant uncertainty of all the tinkering, changing setters or changing offenses.

I want her to stay and compete for the job. She can win it back

I honestly never completely understood why we brought her in. She's easy on the eyes, I'll give her that. And she tries hard. I never had an issue with her effort.

If that's the primary qualification we should throw money at nina cajic and Megan verbiest.

Jenna was a Texas girl unhappy with her situation and had the potential to be a heavy hitting 6 rotation player.   JE loves him some of that (who doesn't really).

Not to mention Parra had already bailed a week or so before and we needed an experienced OH to bridge the gap with Madi until the 2025 kids came in

She was asked to do more than she should have (play all 6 rotations) because either RR or Devin couldn’t play back row or Elliot didn’t trust them to also pass, so you had to sub them out + sub your middles and we didn’t have enough littles or subs to not force Jenna to play 6 rotations.

I miss the days of having a 6 rotation OPP (Sha’Dare). One thing Nebraska had this year and last year - Beason can play 6 rotations, so you always have her for the back row attack + Harper doing the same

All I know is I watched her at Minnesota for two years and wasn't excited about her coming to Texas. Part of that isn't Wenaas's fault. I was spoiled with our outsides. Wenaas had no chance to match up with the recent history of outsides we've possessed. And she didn't.

Another problem is that Nebraska beat us head to head on virtually every recruiting battle we had with them for a couple of years (and everyone else, for that matter). Thankfully that's been changed the last couple of years, plus we received some incredible additions from the portal, including 3 from Nebraska (and Ames!). But even Blackwell this past year - who we could have used as a middle a lot more than Nebraska - we lost out on. We also lost on a couple of littles that could have been difference makers for us.

Maybe Wenaas was the best option. I don't know. I just know I wasn't excited about her commitment out of the portal. I've had frustrations watching her the last couple of years. Again, it's not all on her. We won a national championship with her for goodness sakes, so there has to be gratitude around her for that. She went through some rough times and in my opinion showed a lot of mental fortitude. Especially when she was getting pulled early in the 2023 season. That hug from Elliott after the national championship said a lot.

With this being Louisville and Stanford and Pitt already moving on, the ACC is guaranteed to have a finals team

With Nebraska/Wisky and PSU on the other side, barring a Creighton upset, the B1G has a very good chance to also have a finals team

feels very much like the committee wanted to make sure it would be ACC vs B1G

There is a Sandusky joke for this 5th set I don't want to make.  Looks like Pedo vs. NU and Louisville vs. Pitt.  Could be an all PA final.

I’m rooting for Pitt/Louisville. One of them can win their first. Fuck Corn and fuck Pedo
