Spain is threatening a 100% tax for non-EU citizens to purchase a house, so you may want to act fast.

I would consider Argentina if I were a bachelor.

Literally nobody here believes this can happen. It's a reaction to perceived limited long term lease housing available for citizens.  Akin to problems for elderly Miami Beach residents finding a place to live. At best it will lead to some restrictions on absentee investors and will take years.

To be clear I wasn't saying Argentina was a good alternative to Spain. That was a response to another post. Just meant, I think Argentina would be interesting to check out.

I don't know if the tax can happen or not. I know that once the president of a country starts speaking punitively about immigrants resettling there, there's a wide range of possible outcomes. In Portugal it completely hosed the immigration system for 2 years and counting. I do get a chuckle that the (proposed) tax on non-EU housing purchases is primarily aimed the the Brits.

We stayed at an airbnb in Madrid and people were protesting how the housing prices were going up and locals were getting priced out.  Had one elderly lady tell us as we were leaving to grab food that we didn't live there and shouldn't be staying there.  Thought, hmmm, I'll pass that on.  But it's a problem.  Was on the news in DC too.  There were buildings where people bought condos but nobody lived there, and since there was a housing shortage, they were blaming airbnbs for driving rent prices up.
