Of the non-conventional sports, the one I'm looking forward to the most is being held 10,000 miles away from Paris in the semi-autonomous French territory of Tahiti.  Although I've never stepped on a surf board in my life, I can watch surfing videos all day long.  Apparently the area they're holding the surfing competition can get a bit spicy as seen in this video.

No idea if Jeff Spicoli is the US team coach.  He should be.

My friend at work is a pretty big surfer and he was saying this is one of the best waves in the world, maybe the best. Although he did say it's a little late in the season. I'm pretty excited for the surfing as well although it may be tough for us laymen to really tell if surfer A is better than surfer B.

Looks like nothing on the schedule today except the opening ceremony. Live at 12:30, replay at 6:30 in prime time.

So break dancing is medal event now.  Well ok.

I know most people will assume USA should dominate, but the South Korean B-boys will be my top pick for wagering purposes.

I'm not so sure about the USA dominating, I've been to roller rinks, I've seen us dance, we suck (raising my own hand as well).

If this is what young people want to do, that's great, it's just different.  I don't see a negative, I just feel old.

Stop illin'.

It's all about who can pop, lock and bust the freshest. We just need to unleash the Cosmic F on 'em.

Word.

Good to see NBC showing this live. I've never understood their love with tape delay on ... well everything.

agreed, although based on what I've seen so far I can understand the tape delay.  Trying to understand where are the people are?

Boats are different, but kind of almost feels closing ceremony informal

yeah, I thought boats would be cool change, I was wrong.  They needed to at least decorate the boats or something.

I like it. It's uniquely Parisian. I wish on some of these smaller nations they would list what sports they're competing in. I'm not listening with sound so maybe they're doing that.

It’s kinda cool. Sort of enjoying getting to see some of Paris.

Paris porn is why I enjoy the final stage of the Tour de France every year, well except this one which had to end in Monaco.

Yeah, what an absolutely beautiful city. Sometimes I'll watch a movie just because it's set in a nice place like this.

Yeah, I wasn't feeling it before, I am feeling it now. Interleaving the opening show with the parade and in this very unique way is pretty cool.

I’ve never been. It’s on my bucket list but to me this beats a closed in auditorium type thing. A lot went into this. Stunning shots of the city.

I'm liking this as well.

One thing that Mike Tirico is borrowing from other English-language telecasts is the idea of saying as little as possible. If Costas were still the host he still wouldn't have shut up.

Yea Tirico has been fine.  Kelly Clarkson on the hand is sucking the balls.

I wish she was sucking balls, then she wouldn't be able to talk so much.

This is the coolest fucking thing I've ever seen

Word. The creative and the mix of music and dancing and performance art is truly amazing. With the shots of the city. Can’t wait to see whatever they do at the end with the Eiffel Tower.

When it's LA's turn they can convey the quintessential LA experience by putting all the athletes in cars on the 405 and have them sit in traffic.

Ha. Something Hollywood themed I'm sure...assuming Hollywood still exists by then.

C'mon, Nicole. We know you are really just scouting possible body dump locations for a future trip to Paris.
