I am still in shock that my 70+ year old republican-ass parents are enthralled with the democrats right now. Like way more enthusiastic and pumped up than they've been for any other candidates in my life. Hanging on their every word sort of hyped. Never thought I'd see the day.

You are the luckiest. Congrats I mean it.

Yep, got a few comments today from my 84 year old dad. Life long republican. Hates MAGA and thinks Trump is a turd.

You too

I voted for Republican POTUS candidates in every election from 1992 through 2012.  I sat out 2016 and then went for Biden in 2020.  I'm about ready to make my 1st political donation to Harris/Walz.

DO IT and I’ll match your donation.

Same here. My folks were willing to vote for Biden (the first Democrat either of them voted for since my mom cast a protest ballot for Ann Richards). But they are excited to vote for Kamala and Walz.

Ya they voted for Biden just to keep Trump out, but it was perfunctory. I never thought I'd see my parents watch a national convention period, democratic or republican. They set aside all 4 nights to watch and have been sending me clips all week of the parts they're rewatching.

It's having a knock-on snowball effect too, because now they know the names of a lot of other democrats suddenly, people they'd never heard of before.

Kinda feel like this is the first time in my entire life that entire generations of people are willing to give the democrats an honest, real look at their platform. As in, more than just the republican narrative about democrats being "socialists marxist radical leftists demons"

Same here. My mom has been posting quotes from DNC speakers the last few nights on FB and is more fired up about this election than any I can remember. Growing up, they always voted Republican. Her parents had a signed portrait of Ronald Reagan on their wall until the day they died. And yet here we are.

My dad legitimately had a picture of Regan hanging in his office for years and years and years when I was growing up.

She's much more polished than I remember from the 2020 primaries.

She's had time. All the VEEP does is mundane speeches. What better way to polish your skills?
