I saw that this morning.  Is Jerry personally managing the cap also?  How do you manage to tie up 45% of your cap in 2 players?

I think the technical term is incompetence

Cowboys are currently sitting at number 11 in the draft positioning, and likely rising quickly in the coming weeks. Frankly, I'm looking forward to a new start with a top 10 pick and a new coaching staff. Four picks in round five will be fun.

Time to tank! Maybe get that RB out of Boise State or some type of bad ass on defense or a great TE.

not that it matters bc Jerruh will still be the GM.

They don't need to tank, they're just not going to be very good. Of course, they may somewhat rally for Cooper Rush as they seem to have done in the past. But it likely won't be enough to keep them out of a top 12 pick.

Don't confuse my comments with optimism. I'm just worn out as fuck with this particular version of Cowboys dumpsterfire which was doomed from day fucking 1. Time to move on, and it's going to happen.

But it should be noted that the Cowboys generally do pretty well drafting in the top 1/3rd of the first round, which is a far lesser risk factor. Down in the 18-32 area, generally not so much. We all know they are going to mostly soil themselves in rounds 2-4.

r/Dallas_Cowboys - Jerry wrecked this team future

After last years Super Bowl I remember during the post game commentary they said Patrick Mahomes salary was 14% of the Chiefs cap and that that 14% going to one player was the worst ratio for any Super Bowl winner ever. Dak percentage of their 2025 salary cap is just under 30%.

Mingo's stat line over his final 4 games as a Panther: 5 targets, 1 reception, 1 yard

He's buried on the depth chart behind two rookies (one of whom was undrafted) and whoever the fuck David Moore is. Definitely worth a 4th round pick.

They should be selling, not acquiring other garage sale leftovers for picks.

But hey, he was once a 2nd round draft pick, so it's a bargain, right?

Championship...

That fourth rounder could probably have gotten them a starting guard to replace Martin next year, if they knew how to draft guards after the first round.

If you look at his draft profile he's exactly the type of WR prospect the Cowboys really need in the mix. Except he's not the type of prospect the shitass Panthers needed, so...

I honestly think this may be how Jerry's mind works. Lance was a 1st rounder and we can get him for a 4th? Bargain. Mingo was a 2nd rounder last year and we can get him for a 4th? Bargain!

Maybe Jerrah misheard and thought he was getting Ryan Wingo

Entirely possible. This guy certainly did.

Absolutely incompetent to give up that much for Wingo.  Too bad that nobody in the organization can tell the Emperor that he is butt-naked.

Nope.  I stopped being an avid Cowboy fan years ago, and Jerrah signing Dak to an extension this summer was the final straw.  Making a mediocre QB, with 2 playoff wins in 8 years, the highest paid player in the league (for the 2nd time), while he still has a year left on his current contract, is about as dumb as it gets.  Make him play for a new contract.  Worst case scenario, he holds out and you play Cooper, then either get a FA or draft a QB.

If I'm a GM, I'd rather roll the dice and pay rookie money to Cam Ward or Dillon Gabriel than $60m a year to Dak.

But, whatever, I'm officially out as a Cowboy fan until the Jones family is gone.  The only reason I watched the game today was to see Bijan and Overshown.

Fair enough..... But as we can see today where Jerrah and his "brain trust" just made what is being called the worst trade of the season, this organization is hopeless with this family at the helm.  Sign Dak or don't sign Dak, they'll fuck it up because Jerrah will have authority and influence.  Sign Micah or don't sign Micah, again, they'll fuck it up either way.  Sign CeeDee or don't sign CeeDee, they will fail.  There's a reason the Jones' are losers for 30 years...... because they don't care about winning.  They only care about enriching themselves, which they've done exceedingly well for decades will propping up scapegoats for the fans to blame.  Hopefully, people get it now.... Jerrah is the villain in the story and everything else is white noise.  Don't get this family one cent of revenue and they should be treated like other poor owners of teams who can't go out in public or face public scorn.  Then shit may get real.

Some thoughts from folks across the league on the Mingo trade..... This is who you want to empower with more cap room and draft picks for those that dont' want to re-sign the actual good players they have.

Mingo will have to play at almost a pro-bowl level to justify the cost...... Even if he contributes next year at say a 50 catch, 6 TD pace, this was way to expensive.  The Boys are just really, really bad at this.... their front office is so incompetent, it's comical.

I do not understand this fucking logic.  I do not understand this at all.

Bottom line is, it is extremely unlikely to be of any significant help to the Cowboys making the playoffs this season. So it defies even Jerry's own broken logic.

There are longshot odds that he could turn out to be a productive player at some point next season, but then he's up for a new contract after 2025, and there goes your pick and your player.

This shit pisses me off.  I know I said I stopped being a Cowboy fan, which is true, but I grew up in Dallas and my family had season tickets through my college years, so I still have an emotional investment in the Boys.  I want to be a Cowboys fan.  They were a big part of my life for many years, but I just can't do it under the current ownership.  I just can't.

Mingo hasn't shown much potential, but what you have to consider is that Mingo might show some potential.

While there isn't much evidence to be optimistic about Mingo, the Dallas Cowboys remain optimistic about Mingo.

Khalil Herbert for a 7 seems like a bargain for the Bengals, except he's in his contract year. Still, Cowboys really could have used a running back that has some ability to break off a few good runs, especially in the current shitshow of their situation in 2024.

The "Jerry Jones Tax". Every single person who works in the NFL, covers the NFL or just sort of pays general attention to the NFL knows that Jerry aches to be thought of as the wheeler dealer that Jimmy Johnson was, and thus there is always an upcharge.

That fucking idiot is still chasing the Herschel Walker trade 35 years later.

I understand that Jerry is in charge, but the Cowboys still have a real personnel department that employs real scouts and analysts and such, no? How did this deal get in front of Jerry in the first place? I guarantee that senile old fuck isn't working the phones himself trying to scare up a deal for a 4th string receiver.

He supposedly pulled off the Lance trade completely solo.
