Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again

This is what the geniuses on the radio were discussing. They think it’s possible.

1st, Dak would need to agree to be traded ...which is probably the easier part ...but who in their right mind would take on that contract?

He'd also have to agree to a serious restructuring of his contact, inclusive of getting rid of the guaranteed part.  No way he agrees to that.

The Cowboys are stuck with Dak unless the Raiders show interest, because Davis is the only owner I could see being dumb enough to take on Dak's contract as is.

And that’s fair.

I actually like Dak. Dudes on the radio were just talking scenarios where Dallas moves him to get Sheduer.

I think Dak would do well at a legit team. I’d enjoy seeing him get that chance.

It's alwasys difficult to know what an imbecile will do, but no one with any football sense would even entertain the Sanders thing.  It's ludicrous and would kill the franchise's ability to win for another 4-5 years because of the cap effect.  And here's the low key thing.  Shedeur isn't exactly a no doubt prospect.  He has average pro athleticism and I'm going to guess he doesn't come in at 6'2" either.  Regardless, it's a stupid idea but because Jerrah is an imbecile, people will talk about it.

It seems like the cowboys are in pretty much the worst situation possible. No hope at all to win anytime soon but buried under the crushing weight of expensive long term contracts for 2 players that eat up 40% (?) of their cap space. They better hope that Jerry hits on every single draft pick for the next few years.

I stated that this was my nightmare scenario at the start of the season and now…

It definitely gets eyeballs and ears, but I'm not buying it.

Two things would have me just about totally out with the Cowboys, and one is anything remotely related to Deion or his spawn, unless you count Hunter. The other is midget genius boy Kellen Moore as head coach. Fuck both of those bullshit rumors in the goatass.

Just another stupid Dak hating moron.

The dude helped them win 3 games this year...with THIS team, THIS roster, THIS front Office, and THIS coaching staff.  How the fuck did they beat Pittsburgh?

I'm full on shit show now...go complete circus.  Talk Dak into waiving his no trade clause and tank out so you can take Sanders or whatever fucking QB ya'll think will walk in here and be better within the next 2-3 years(in one of the worst QB drafts in recent memory BTW).  Hire Deion for the shits and giggles.   Dak will be on a REAL fucking team that actually is trying to field competitive teams with a coaching staff and front office that supports him and a fan base that actually understands what a QB is.

It'll be fun watching them boys go down in flames...or hell, maybe a shot in the arm. I don't care anymore. I won't care what happens...just be along for the ride.

Blow it the fuck up...I'm so tired of this team and this idiotic fan base.

lol…I knew who negged this post without even looking and it made me happy.

The "remotely financially feasible" part doesn't even have anything to do with the Cowboys' cap.  There's not another football team in the world that thinks Dak is worth that contract.

This is correct. It’s good to see Drew is staying the course despite 8 years of evidence otherwise. Dak is Romo 2.0. Both “good” but very far from great QB’s.

Romo produced even when he was running for his life.

Dan has had very good lines most years, but chokes when the pressure turns up.

Dak can’t carry Romo’s jock.

I always thought that Clap Clap Garrett coached the legs out of Dak because he’s a product of ancient times and basically killed any chance at Dak being in the elite class. I’m just wholly convinced the problems all along have been the coaches which of course ends up back at Jerry fucking jones. I'm fully convinced that had Garrett gotten a hold of Patrick Mahomes he would have made sure he never ran and never threw sidearm and would have relegated him to a pocket duck which again is the product of ancient times. I feel that had Dak been given the right coaching he wouldn't have had the higher end of Mahomes' natural ability but his career would have been on a much, much more positive trajectory.

HSO incoming, but I think the Cowboys get close to winning it all the year Romo was injured had they benched Dak after Romo returned from injury.

100% true.  best OL and zeke when he was good.  solid defense.  romo on play-action would have been indefensible.  he would have strolled through the playoffs on his way to a ring.  my dak-hatred began when jerry decided to stick with him over tony.

And I don't think the OL was all that great the last three seasons. It seems like it has gone from mediocre to terribad in that span. It has been largely overrated due to the star power names that weren't quite performing like stars for an injury-riddled unit.

Close like lose in the second round close? Yeah, that happened twice. Wasn’t there also a year they had a bye and home field advantage and choked??

Agreed.  It has fallen apart as Zack, the leader has.  2022 it was pretty good but Tyron missed a lot of time, but Zack was elite, Biadasz was decent and Tyler Smith was solid as a rookie but it was still decent when Tyron played because he still was upper echelon and Zack was elite.  Last year it was down a peg.  Tyron played solid but couldn't run block anymore, Zack was starting to show cracks bit stiil top 10 at his position and Steele was getting exposed.  Now we have 2 rookies, Zack isn't anything but average because of decline and injuries.  Our best OL is Tyler Smith and he's only pretty good.  2 rookies and Steele is getting worse.  There's hope for next year if they can find a guard and OT because Beebe should be better, so should Guyton and Tyler Smith is entering prime but have to find an above-average OT -- internally or externally.  Run game is worse, pass blocking was terrible this year and we're just..... bad.  Transition year for the OL.  I feel terrible for Zack because for 8 years he was as good as you've seen at guard but now injuries have taken its toll.....

Romo got as much crap as Dak did for most of the years he was playing. That's just the nature of the media/blogosphere/fanboy beast.

One of these days in the not so distant future we may very well miss the hell out of Dak.

I don't even miss him right now

yeah, Patrick Crayton for some goddamn reason decided to stop running his route on what would have been the game winning touchdown.   but go ahead and blame that on Romo

I take this is sarcasm, unless a 2-5 playoff is really really good in your book and the next guy could go *gasp* 0-7 or 1-6.

You should take it as "we may miss competent QB play" and you, as always, put WAYYY to much stock into QB records, instead of Team records.  You can maybe lay 2 playoff losses at Dak's feet...he played well enough to win 5 of those playoff games easy.

But at the end of the day results is all that matter.

Why not?

EVERY single playoff loss is blamed on Dak.  Not the 34 points given up and Garett going for a FG instead of a TD in 2016 vs GB.  Not the 250 yards rushing given up to the Rams and 30+ points again in 2018.  Dak wasn't good against the 49rs in 2021 but they had a chance to win that game(and all of you know the refs fucked up that last chance for a play).  Once Pollard went down in 2022 they literally had no offensive weapon but "throw to Lamb" who was double/triple covered.  No one else could do anything, so hard to blame the QB solely for that.

And yes, Dak started poorly against the Packers last year...but we've seen MANY QB's have bad starts like that and not have the defense give up 28 strait points without blinking.  Sometimes a defense, you know, actually stops that from happening?  Even without those 2 Turnovers they gave up 34 points.  Hard for any offense to overcome that in the playoffs.

So no Dak isn't blameless, just like Romo wasn't blameless...but to pretend Romo gets a pass for playoff losses while shitting on Dak is absolutely insane.

You don’t think they’ll trade him or you don’t think there’s a market?

He has a no trade clause so he'd have to ok any trade. Doubt he does that except to a contender. What contender is going to want a broken down, inaccurate QB they have to pay$240 million over the next 4 years?

Next, Cowboys would eat a cap hit in 2025 of $90 million if they trade him before June 1st. It's spread over next 2 seasons at $45 million each if after June 1st. That's 35 percent of the cap in dead money for 1 player. They would have to go into super rebuild mode and tear it all down if they do that.
