it seemed like witten to the staff was a ticket narrative.

If Witten wants to be a HC in the NFL, he needs to get on a staff and start putting in his time. I’m sure he could get on legitimately with other franchises. Instead he’s coaching HS.  The Witten narrative makes no sense.

Holy shit. They really did take it out with the trash. You dump the news of your next head coach the Friday before Championship Weekend. How the mighty have fallen. This is all likelihood Jerry Jones last hire and it perfectly sums up what he's done to his own franchise because he's too fucking stubborn to hand it over to someone who knows football.

I’m done.
The first football game I remember watching was Super Bowl VI in 1972 when the Cowboys beat the Dolphins.  Roger Staubach, Drew Pearson, Bob Lilly and Tom Landry were my boyhood idols.

I remember my Dad disavowing the Cowboys after the way Jerry fired Landry.  I knew there needed to be a change, so I wasn’t as unforgiving as Dad.  The three Super Bowl victories in the ‘90s validated me sticking by them, although I started having doubts when Switzer was hired.

Five or Six years ago I became an ambivalent fan. I vowed not to give Jerry another dime, refused to go to a game even if someone else was paying.  I was ok with the Cowboys winning or losing.  If they won, it was good because I was a fan.  If the lost, I was okay with that too because I knew it probably upset Jerry.

Now, I will actively root against Dallas until the Jones’s are no longer part of the team.  I realize this is probably a lifelong decision for me, but whatever.

It's all about money. Schott has the worst resume in the league. Jones must be the cheapest SOS on the planet. He is the proverbial king who sits on his throne counting his money while the world around him goes to shit. He must be greedy beyond belief. An embarrassment to all of Texas.

Three guesses why Jimmy bailed, and the first two don't count.

I think Jones secretly  hates Texans. Possibly because the Longhorns beat his precious Razorbacks so many times. He is a bane on the state of Texas.

Fuck, he may even hate Cowboy fans

You have it all wrong. It isnt about money, it never has been. It is 100% about control. That is it and that is all.

You’ll be doing this the rest of your life. They aren’t going anywhere and Jerruh will live to be 130 because evil people work like that.

***meant to edit my last post, not post again***

I've reached the point of not giving a fuck.  Born '83.  Some of my best childhood memories are Cowboy victories, Superbowls, and Thanksgiving turkey shared with family at tailgates in the Texas Stadium parking lot.

But fuck 'em.  I'm done.  My 14 year old son tapped out after this year and so have I.  I will cheer for them, but I won't give a fuck win or lose.

I think you will find your life to be better in the fall not having a team. I quit being a fan of a team 11 or 12 years ago. I get people who will stay with their team win or lose, but if you get zero joy from watching your team play it’s probably time to find something else to devote your time to.

While this whole situation is a shit show, I am intrigued by the Matt Flufflerbus hiring as DC. When he was the Cowboys LB coach, he turned several guys into extremely good LB’s and the Dallas LB corps looked better than it has ever looked. He was a shit head coach, but who knows with that Chicago organization.

So this hire means no legitimate HC candidate wanted the job right? Or at least wanted a ridiculous amount of money to offset the fuckery that comes with it

All of us bitchin about Jerry on here and other social media are spinning our wheels.   Until fans quit buying merchandise and spend outrageous sums of money to see the Cowboys and pay $15 for a beer along with $100 for parking at Jerryworld, he’s going to keep on being Jerry.

...unless his dream team gets the #1 pick.

But is that Dallas?  hahah doubtful

Hey, Dallas is in Texas and maybe he's a fan of the state of Texas in general.

As my sentiments on this hire, Jerry and the Cowboys in general just echo everyone else here I'll just say this...

If Arch is drafted by the Cowboys, in 1 or 2 years (Arch is here for 2, imo) I truly hope Arch pulls an Elway and says fuck you Jerry. Rather than baseball just uses existing sponsorships and bank account info and says, "Naw, I'll just go into broadcasting and I don't need your fucking money or bullshit."

Seriously, as someone who grew up as a Cowboys fan, I'd rather have a star 1st round draft pick Longhorn QB just fucking quit football, if they can, than play for Jerry. It's become that fucking bad.

Yeah, at some point call a spade a spade and move on. I hope the Cowboys do well, but... I really couldn't tell you the last time I watched a game.

End of FUPM, coupled with Strong and Herman lead me to cancel season tickets after 32 years.

I did go multiple games this year and last.

Sports are entertainment, if I'm going to invest my time and money, I expect to enjoy the product on the field and actually believe there's a chance of wining a championship. I'm not saying go full fair weather Fandom, but 20 plus years of shit product... or in Longhorns case a decade... it's just not good entertainment investment at some point. I don't pay to go see a movie that I don't think I'll like or bands I know I don't love in the hopes that my opinion will change.

I can't remember the last time since the 90s I thought a championship was a realistic probability with the Cowboys.

Eberflus being hired is the cherry on top. Jerry must be trying to destroy the franchise value in some sort of weird tax mitigation strategy before he dies and his estate inherits the team.

Eberflus has a better resume than Schott. He sucked as a head coach, but he won't be head coach. It's not a horrible hire. Keeping Zimmer probably would have been better.

The Cowboys are in contract hell through 2027 at a minimum.  I will repeat what I said upthread, the next franchise QB picked by the Cowboys isn't even out of High School yet.  Arch can go to the Colts or the Browns...

I don’t disagree with any of that. The best thing for the latest in the Manning family of QB’s is to be as far away from Dallas as possible. When a glamour franchise in any sport is mismanaged this badly it’s just not good for the league. It’s somewhat incredible to look through 30 years worth now of this franchise doing nothing of note. They’re basically the Jaguars with a star on their helmet.

The man is a fucking idiot who lost multiple games this year because he did not understand basic clock management.

None of it matters.  You think everyone in Texas is gone to quit ordering Pappa John's?  You think people at every other stratum he has the catering contract with are going up quit ordering food?  You think people are going to quit putting gas in their car or go to world cup games or the NFL is going to decide the cowboys just don't get their revenue share?

He's too big to fail. None of it matters. He makes more fucking money before he wakes up than a lot of people make in a career.

It was a helluva run with Jimmy.  But he showed who he was 30 years ago. He'd rather think he's right than win.

Sorry I should have been clear that I was speaking purely hypothetically.

I know the Cowboys are contractually fucked. I'm was just wish casting Arch would tell Jerry to go fuck himself and pointing out how far away I've been driven from Cowboy Fandom by skeletor.
