The way the Cowboys have tried to value OL talent has been a major flaw for a long time. They needed to value the unit and their overall depth more, adapt the OL to their schemes, not just plug and play and wonder why it isn't working right. Draft rankings and underwear Olympics don't make a great OL. They just end up with the most expensive OL that breaks down easily.

As a Texas fan I'd hate this, but it would be another really good hire for this Staff.

As much as we hated the HC search process and who they hired...gotta admit the staff is coming together really really well.

Twitter says they’re also talking to Ra’Shaad Samples who coaches RB at Oregon currently

The issue hasn’t been drafting but coaching.  They have had shit o line coaches since Columbo left.  No college produces nfl ready o linemen from scheme anymore; it’s like QBs you have to project off tape and workouts.
development is now a much more important role for coaches.

Their problem with drafting is that they used too much draft capital on OL which ended up being part of the huge cap issues. They just don't manage it well. They end up being forced to draft for immediate need way too much when they fail to manage the OL ahead of the curve, and also extend questionable players because they lack other options. The better managed teams mine for OL later in the draft and are able to develop them. When you look around the league it's mostly the LT's that are top heavy in high round picks.

Then you have to have OL types that fit your scheme and what you do. That's one of the ways they underutilize their talent, high draft rankings but not good unit fits. It's both coaching and drafting. But the better teams always seem to be able to cobble together solid OL units with far less spent on players other than the LT.

He should make Luka an honorary Cowboy like Cuban did for Romo.

The website are saying miles Garrett is 4-1 to go to Cowboys.  Uhh his statement said he wanted to go to an immediate contender.  Dallas is basically a lateral move from the Browns, but with a nicer stadium.

I thought this was interesting in the sense that they could sign him instead of parsons and save $

He's also 3.5 years older..... Be 30 by next playoffs.  You'd miss the last years of Micah's prime and still be on the hook for a ton of money.  Garrett is the type of guy you get if you're 1 player away..... Dallas is more like 21 players away.

Oddsmakers just know how stupid typical betting fans are, doesn't really have anything to do with likelihood. Ain't happening.

Lamb playing with a fucked up shoulder in meaningless games earned him some respect.  You could tell it was hurting pretty bad, but he was still playing hard.

CD ain’t worth what they pay him. They act like he’s a top 5 WR in the league but the dude has a million drops.

Seems like a very Eberflus driven staff. I guess he's the the next man up for cheap head coach with experience.

Heavy OL coaching influence and developing modern run game concepts seems like it has been a major need.

Added another 'Flus guy. What is it, like five dudes now?

Dallcago Bearboys.

That part makes me a bit nervous.

He had 7 last year, 2 more than Jefferson and 2 less than chase.  I'd say he's easily top 5 when healthy, if not top 3.

Look, no one likes Jerry.  Everyone is angry and frustrated at what he and his dumbass family has done to the Cowboys. So I get it.

There's plenty of a examples to choose from. You don't have to go around and make shit up.

CeeDee is even better than his stats. When you see detailed analysis about his tiny catch windows and difficulty compared to others it's pretty amazing got got anywhere close to his actual catches and yards.

I think it would be very easy to name five receivers you’d rather have than that sooner.

Name them, and then name their quarterbacks.

Youve been playing too much Madden23.

Jefferson
Chase
I think Lamb is third

Though I believe Lamb is a lazy route runner. That you put Aiyuk in there is absurd and undermined whatever point you were trying to make.

Also not mentioning St Brown is ludicrous. Lamb can be argued as a top 5, but there are a lot of good ones and I wouldn't find it crazy if someone has other guys they think are better.

To me, the top 5 WRs have to be JustinJefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, Tyreek Hill, CD Lamb, and AJ Brown. You can argue about the order I think those are the clear top 5

Chase and Jefferson are clearly at the top for me, then you could say St Brown, Lamb, Puka, Nico, AJ Brown, McLaurin would be in that next tier. Then you have really young promising guys like Nabers, Garrett Wilson, Brian Thomas Jr. Also Rashee Rice was looking to have a breakout year before Mahomes took him out.

I have a hard time putting older players like Evans, Adams, Hill, and Kupp as being among the very best due to age, but that's just me personally.

their shelf life is currently shorter but they're absolutely still at the top.

Hard disagree with several of those guys but even then - none of those quarterbacks was Cooper Rush.  Plus the question was which of the current starters needs to be upgraded for a run at a Championship.  CDL isn't one of them.

First point is the correct response.

Not sure how much of Lamb's route running is him or the Cowboys coaching/scheme stuff. But maybe.

Aiyuk is one of the most overrated, glad the Cowboys didn't think about trading for him. Productive enough over the season, but a system guy that's pretty hot and cold. Put him on a lesser offense and he's a JAG...when he's healthy.

Tonight my daughters ad firm (worlds biggest creative agency) threw a big super bowl party for their clients in Chicago.

The entertainment?

You guessed it. The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

Not like they are gonna be needed anywhere near a Super Bowl anytime soon.

I’d take AJ, Hill and probably Evans over CD. Before his monster ‘23 season, I thought he was outside Top 10. He took a step back this year without Dak. He’s shown himself to be a warrior, but he’s got an attitude problem. He’s definitely not top 3 and is probably just outside the top 5.

Tough to find time to practice in between off season shifts at spearmint rhino and tight ends
