Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again

Recommended Posts

High ankle sprains seem like a bitch and can linger on for awhile. I've heard it's almost better just to get a clean break as it will heal better and quicker. I think even after he returns, Parsons will still be dealing with it.

Didn't DLaw injure his foot last year?

Already missing Bland, our safeties are terrible and now missing the only 2 guys who can even get to the QB, which is even rare for them this year. No RBs to speak of, no real speed on offense and a struggling OL, fun times are ahead for the schedule we have. Is 2-5 on the horizon? 3-3 seems to be what to hope for going into the bye and hopefully regroup for the rest of the season.

I've heard with mazi he was dealing with a rehab issue last offseason and also confidence.

Maybe just MAYBE he's turning a corner.  Still too long to make an impact for a first rounder.

And as for the safeties...they literally have better options on the roster, but refuse to make the change and stick with the 2 starters.

watch it on youtube.

that man is an absolute freak.  just so terribly unfortunate that he was out of our price range.  thankfully jerry was able to produce him in the aggregate with rico, zeke, and the midget.

he's the same age and a fuckton bigger than zeke; try to go somewhere in your mind that comprehends zeke making that same run.  zeke is a lazy fat idiot.

The Cowboys should see what they could get from KC in a trade for Brandin Cooks. He's that guy that gets traded when teams need an experienced above-average receiver that can help. He has never been the stud he has been made out to be. if they could get a 3 or 4, or maybe a backup player in a position of need for depth and has some contract left after this season, then pull the trigger. Promote Brooks up a notch and roll with it.

I'm not trying to throw in the towel on the season, but there are times when you need to use your chips before they gone, and this is one of them. The Cowboys rarely use these opportunities, which is one of the reasons they are always a step behind. They tend to do the opposite and overpay to take someone else's baggage.

Cooks is expendable, though it hurts depth to a degree. It also creates opportunity and maybe bring in some new chemistry and play making potential. Ferguson is the true number 2, and Tolbert needs to take a bigger role, even Turpin is in the rotation in a meaningful way. No better time to shuffle a little bit and shake things up.

I don't think Cooks gets you a 3 or 4, more like a 6th.  He's an also ran at this point in his career, or at least he is here.

Mid-season trades to a team in need of help after a couple of key long-term injuries are a bit different.

The Chiefs made a terrible trade in mid 2022 trading away comp 3rd and a 6th for the most brittle and underachieving (but allegedly promising, lol) WR in the league, Kadarius Toney. They cut him before the season after he averaged 2 catches per game for them when he wasn't injured. They are probably even more desperate now as the Chiefs offense has been sluggish after losing two of their top targets and their top RB. Cooks still probably owns a myth of being productive past reality.

i don't see it.  we don't have speed or quickness, we're not disciplined in our routes, average athleticism, we don't even block well.  decent hands i guess.

Tolbert is still learning. Cooks has really really aged in the last 2 years. He cannot gain separation.  CD and Ferguson are by far the top two targets and everyone else is WR4 or worse. Tolbert has improved and shown some things, but far too slowly for Year 3. He isn’t better than a WR4. Cooks disappearing has nuked the O.

Who else you giving besides Cooks to get a 3 or 4th?  Maybe.... maybe a conditional 6/7th.  He hasn't produced with Dallas and Dallas has used him in all the wrong ways..... They use him like he's a regular outside WR.  So stupid.  Verticals, deep ins, digs and curls.  You want Cooks in space go run away from guys with crossing patterns....

I think Dorance Armstrong is a guy Dallas really misses right now. I hated to lose him in free agency.

100% agree, but we could see this once Sam Williams went down.  He was being groomed to take his 3rd pass rusher role.  Now, we've lost the top 4 guys from last year.  Actually top 5 pass rushers from last year are no longer with the team or hurt.  We just didn't invest in the defense other than "getting guys back".  This team isn't as good as last year because the organization won't spend or invest.  Same with the secondary.  Needed another CB, didn't go get one.  Have needed a good rangy center field Free safety, haven't gotten one.  Need 2 IDL's, got some terrible also-rans (Zimmer probably to blame here).  This is a rebuild year.

Also Fat McCarthy's offense lack any creativity.  We're back 10 or 5 in motion, shifts, PA, etc.... But the last one?  Who would be scared of your rushing attack when it's being led by Dead Legs, Rico and the midget?  It's a joke.

Dorance is much more versatile than Sam Williams, though. He seemed like a guy they should keep around for depth and quality reps in different spots.

Put Cooks in KC's offense and suddenly he'll look like a steal for a 4th rounder.

Cooks can't get in and out of his breaks quickly anymore, that was his best feature.  He isn't garnering a 4th in return...not when KC can go out and likely get Amari Cooper or Davante Adams for a 2nd or 3rd.

And, yeah, the metallic blue pants, not silver, and royal blue jerseys, not navy.

Those royals are fucking cursed.  Ask Don Meredith.  I also never liked the original heavy serif numerals.

I like the navy jerseys but would use the same font as on the white jerseys.

Washington is in their Cowboys rookie contract Dak era.

Scary part: Daniels is better than Dak

The cowboys had seasons of Romo dead cap I. His contract.  Same as if they’d let Dak go.

also I couldn’t see how Caleb Williams graded better than Daniels.  Daniels started a shitton of games in school.

This is akin to combining the worst traits of Strong with the worst traits of Herman and giving them infinite resources.  The NFL and the Cowboys get what they deserve.

why doesn't the superbowl count as primetime?  sure it starts at like 5:45 but it's not over til 9.
Yep. And it's the biggest game of the year About as primetime as you can get.

Also, thanks for sucking (or throwing the game) Neil O'Donnell! You gave Larry Brown a big contract with the Raiders lol

and Jerry gave Dak the biggest bag ever (and CD a huge bag as well).

way to start a “soft rebuild” by hamstringing the cap for years, asshole.
You don't half ass on either end of the spectrum. Being all in, you go all out. Rebuild? You strip it down and start over. This is what Houston did. Rams and Eagles went all in the years they won it all. Half assing it is the worst. You are setting yourself up for purgatory. Won't bottom out to get the needed draft capital but won't ever have a shot to win it all. Pretty much what we have perfected.
