There is genuinely no way to undersell the extent to which Chip Kelly burned the program down on his way out. He tossed a live grenade to Foster and waddled his fat ass out of there.

I'm not in anyway diminishing the pegging Chip provided UCLA, but I do have to note that there are other yellow toothed coaches out there than achieved not dissimilar levels of pegging on other universities before "retiring" back to whence they came.

Look, I'll call it like I see it. There are a lot more "honorable" posters here that have aspirations to be surrounded by their wife and children during their dying days.

And I applaud them for that aspect of their wants in life.

I'm not like them. If at 80+ I pass with a legit 10 prostitute at the Waldorf in Vegas while pumped up on coke and Viagra... it was a damn good run, because that means at 80+ I still had enough money, energy and drive book and take the flight, pay for the Waldorf,  find and finance a top quality sex worker, acquire some quality cocaine and indulge. I'm not supporting nor condoning sex work, drug use nor Vegas... I'm just sayin'.

Sanders was only 53 when he died of a heart attack with a hooker in LA.

Not so great run.

UCLA should play aggy every year in the Mattress Mack Sleeping Giant Bowl from Rhodes Stadium in Katy.

aggy should've kept the shoulder stripes now that I think about it.

Who wants to forget the Stumblin' years?

No doubt. Herm Edwards comes to mind in recent times.

Dear Deshaun... since you made President Biden  appear as if he were a silver tongued devil (NO CLOAK ROOM... NO CLOAK ROOM), I'm just gonna off the top of my head, type up your speech for you.

It is with great optimism and  enthusiasm that we embrace the many challenges of being in one of the most dynamic conferences, the Big 10. UCLA football has a long and proud history. Some of our legends include ... Jackie Robinson (yes.. THAT Jackie Robinson), Billy Kilmer, Heisman winner, Gary Beban, Randy Cross, Kenny Easley, Freeman Mcneil, Jonathan Ogden and of course, Troy Aikman. We are proud to call one of the most honored, respected stadiums in the world our home field.

The Big 10 will offer new challenges, greater demands for athletic excellence and we are prepared to meet those higher demands and expectations.

Christ Almighty.. it's not that difficult.

I'm adding Alvin Ailey to your list of great UCLA athletes. Born in Rogers, Texas, Alvin attended UCLA and went on to found one of America's greatest dance companies, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. He was a great athlete, too.

I blame his SID on not preparing him.  He was as if he didnt know he had an opening speech he had to address.

Yeah, let's put it on the staff and not blame Foster for being a Charlie Strong clone. Good thing they didn't ask him what zip code he lived in or what his QB's first name is.

Read somewhere that UCLA and USC athletes have won ~600 Olympic medals combined... more than all but six countries.

UCLA has tons of great athletes, just not as many in football.

Meh. Tommy Tune would hang a tap shoe in Alvin Ailey's ass. Probably did at some point

So my family used to run an appliance parts distributorship and when a part was No Longer Available we would say it was NLA.  Occasionally we would get customers who would say I don't care if it's in Los Angeles ship the thing to me....

This is why I love Surly. An already funny conversation about UCLA's new coach has morphed into Alvin Ailey/Tommy Tune smack-talk.

I just heard UCLA will travel the most miles of any NCAA team.  Starting with a trip to Honolulu.  22,048 miles.

SBBruin - time to collect on travel miles and spruce up the sail boat for 2025.

Best uniforms in CFB, if they ever go back to the old school “baby blues!”

Hook’em!!!
