Recommended Posts

Jeff Goldblum reigns as Zeus in this epic struggle between gods, humans and everything in between, from the creator of "The End of the F***ing World".  As discord reigns on Mount Olympus and almighty Zeus spirals into paranoia, three mortals are destined to reshape the future of humankind.

An all-powerful god, yet insecure, Zeus started to fear his end of reign once he noticed a wrinkle on his forehead, possibly indicating the end of the world. He became paranoid and vengeful towards his lieges, and later, three humans connected with the ancient prophecy possibly related to his end of reign and the possible apocalypse of the Earth. Meanwhile, the three humans starts to discover their connections with each other and grand conspiracies involving the Greek gods

Solid start, excellent soundtrack and cast. Hilarious premise.

Is it though? It appears to be an earth that never adopted christianity and stayed with the greek pantheon. But 2100+ years of culture dominated by worshipping greek gods would look a hell of a lot different than our current culture. The writers don't appear to have considered that.

They do human sacrifice, their cereals are named after characters from within the Greek pantheon, and they still have George Jones.

And it's Jeff Goldblum being Jeff Goldblum.

So in this world does the original story of Orpheus and Eurydice not exist?  Seems unlikely given Prometheus’ role.  So how come everyone’s not like…

But seriously, perhaps this a multi season show with each season playing out one of the main myths of the time?  I dunno.  I enjoyed first episode but seems pretty low stakes.  Something like Good Omens was better (so far).

In the 3rd episode: right after Zeus and Poseidon talk, Poseidon calls Hera.  He then looks at the deckhand and asks her " if she likes to swim". Next scene shows her chained spread eagle in the see through tube drowning above him.

Please explain

I'm not up-to-date on all of the Greek gods - maybe find some kid that's read the Percy Jackson books and ask them?
