All three freshmen looked good. That’s refreshing.

Preston - fast as hell, finally a capable backup PG for Rori

Lee - three point threat

Carlton - not afraid to shoot, has good touch around the rim

I think the key will be figuring out how to divide the minutes at the 4 and 5.

Between Harmon, Holle, Phelia, Lee, and Preston we are likely going to go small/more athletic 1-3. Tough to bring a player like Moore off the bench but it's the best way to maximize this roster.

The backups are going to get a ton of minutes with this non-conference schedule.

The main starters didn't even play 20 minutes.

Load management is important for this roster, especially with our not challenging our non-conf is.  Outside of ND next month and Maryland in January, this team should be very ready to hit the SEC ground running against OU on Jan 2

Harmon - coming off ACL surgery
Booker - not her first time to miss a game due to a hamstring
Jones - injury issues
Moore - injury issues

That's the beauty of this team's depth - Preston can spell Harmon, Oldacre is really doing well inside and if Moore needs rest, Vic is going to experiment with this 4 guard lineup with Booker at the 4 and Carlton is going to push for more PT.

Also would love a lineup of Harmon, Lee/Phelia, Holle, Booker, Jones.  Get 2 of your best 3 point shooters out there + Harmon/Booker midrange.  Should really open up the inside for Jones.

I'll be really surprised if Lee isn't the primary starter by the end of the year.

Harmon, Lee, Holle, Booker, and Jones is the best lineup for how Vic wants to play. Lee and Preston are perfect fits for how Vic wants to play (i.e. athletic guards that can defend in the full-court press).

We can go big with the Booker, Moore, and Jones lineups in certain scenarios but don't think that's the best way to maximize this roster.

I think there will be potential flip flopping between Holle and Phelia for a while.  Vic raves about Leila and what she can do, but Holle is Miss Dependable.  I'm fine with either one.

Assuming Booker is back on Sunday, we may see the 4 guard lineup start a game with Booker at the 4, since he wanted to do it last night until Booker was scratched.

Also the ironic part of calling that the "big lineup" is Booker and Moore are both 6'1 and Phelia, Lee and Holle are all 6'0.  So there's no real size difference if you play the 4 guards or Moore.  And Carlton is also 6'1

This is a tall roster for Vic and he loves tall guards - Rori and Preston are the shorties at 5'6 and 5'9, and then everyone else is 6'0 or taller.  And Crump is a 6'1 guard too.  Chavez is 5'10

Speaking of ANOTHER Aaliyah - Matharu ended up deciding on Baylor, joining them for the 2025 portion of the season.

Which is good for NC, since they just lost Jana Van Gytenbeek, who has played in 59 games for Baylor the last 2 years.

I read she's at some tournament, so maybe not until the end of the weekend?

i saw some of highlights from her opening game at the tournament.. she's really good.. she runs hard on motion to get open.. she can hit 3s at ease just spotting up..

It’s likely that I don’t know what I’m talking about but it seems like DePaul uses moving screens and isn’t getting called for it.

Yet they are calling some ticky tack shit

FT shooting isn’t gonna be a strength…

Which alone could cost us yet another chance at a title. I know it's early in the season, and players get winded pretty quickly in actual games, but we absolutely must dominate from the line. We have a bunch of players who will regularly draw fouls.
