Beating the brakes off a shorthanded Maryland bumped us up to #2 in NET

We now boast wins over #11 (neutral), #16 (road), #17 (home), #23 (neutral), #31 (road) and #40 (home), with our 2 losses coming to #1 (road) and #5 (road).

Next 6 games, featuring all top 80 NET teams and 4 top 25 NET teams:

#14 Tenn (home)
#13 Ole Miss (road)
#79 Missouri (home)
#76 aggy (road)
#21 Vanderbilt (home)
#1 SoCar (home)

Texas has a really good chance to notch a few more more top 25 NET wins, getting us close to half a dozen before mid-February.  And that's not even counting the 5 games after SoCar, which features 2 more top 20 NET teams: #18 Kentucky (road), #10 LSU (home), #129 Georgia (road), #35 Miss St (road) and #53 Florida (home)

I am also not going to cry for Maryland - Texas WBB has faced so many injuries and gotten beat because of being shorthanded over the years (Rori and A-Mo's ACLs, Gaston injuries, Jones injuries, Morris freak hematoma, the nothing we've gotten from Phelia due to her eye injury).

Tennessee's 3 losses were by a combined 4 points. They're probably better than their ranking because of those close losses. We can't fuck around at home against them

We won’t. Vic has shut down offenses all year - OU 87 ppg and 8.6 3 point makes per game (73 points and 2 threes); Bama 80 ppg and 8.7 3 point makes per game (40 points and 4 threes); SoCar 82.7 ppg and 6.4 3 point makes per game (67 points and 3 threes); Maryland 84 ppg and 5.8 3 point makes per game (51 points and 0 threes)

Tenn is built like OU, Bama and Maryland - 94 ppg and 11.7 3 point makes per game. Run them off the three point line, turn them over (14.3 Per game average) and force them to play defense (average almost 70 ppg allowed).

AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 7/7 Texas women's basketball game scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8:00 p.m. CT vs. No. 17/17 Tennessee has been moved to 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will now be televised on ESPN.

What was it before, SEC Network?

I'll take an earlier tip time and ESPN - I'm old and don't like 8pm tips (and it's 7 my time lol)

Yes, the SECN.

Agreed on the tip time, especially if you get one of those special officiating crews that thinks we all want to watch a 3.5 hour WBB game.

Looks like LSU/SoCar got bumped to Friday afternoon due to weather in Columbia.  Explains why the slot opened up and they just slid us over from SEC Network.

I'm sure Kim is going to be thrilled they now play Friday in Columbia and then a home game Sunday against aggy.  SoCar hosts LSU Friday and then travels to Tennessee on Monday.

1 ranked win for Tennessee, and Iowa s not even ranked anymore - 13-7 and 3-6 in B1G play (13th place).

MSST or Richmond are probably their best wins.  They really stacked the Ws in non-conf play against a weak schedule, but as has been mentioned, 2 of 3 losses were to ranked teams by 2 points each and the third loss was by 1 point.

I think they're overrated, honestly.  We are much more tested.

ESPN matchup predictor - 88.4% Texas

Massey has them with the #2 offense, #63 defense and #16 SOS.   Texas #5 offense, #3 defense, #5 SOS - as I said earlier, they're basically ranked in offense/defense like Maryland or OU.  We know how Vic coaches against those teams.

(I did not realize LSU's SOS is #32, no wonder they are undefeated lol)

Common opponents:

Richmond - Texas by 11 (true road game), Tenn by 25 (neutral)
OU - Texas by 7 (road game), Tenn lost by 2 (at home)
Arky - Texas by 34 (home), Tenn by 30 (road)

From Danny Davis in the Statesman today:

"Harmon not focusing on future plans
On Thursday, Texas senior point guard Rori Harmon will play in the 100th game of her career. How many more times will she suit up for the Longhorns? Harmon doesn’t yet know.
Harmon missed much of last season with a knee injury, and the NCAA has since granted her a medical redshirt. Harmon, though, doesn’t have to return to Texas. She already has her degree and professional prospects since ESPN’s recently listed Harmon as a first-round pick in a mock draft for the 2025 WNBA draft.
Harmon hasn’t yet declared what her plans are, and she didn’t reveal much about her future during a media availability Wednesday. Right now, she’s focused on the Longhorns’ 2024-25 season.
'That’s a decision I’m going to make after the season,' Harmon said. 'I would like to just enjoy being back and being able to play the game right now and be where my feet are at, because you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, the next hour, the next minute.'
This season, Harmon is averaging 10.3 points and 6.1 assists per game. She recently moved into second place on UT’s all-time assists list."

Hope she stays for purely selfish reasons.

I don't think I'm even remotely worried about this unless Harmon is just over college.

Pay in the WNBA is terrible and there are zero guarantees in the WNBA. See Charli Collier being the #1 pick and only lasting 2 years in the WNBA. There are just  minimal roster spots.

I could easily see Rori coming back to play alongside Chavez if we land her. Who wouldn’t want to

Man that’s twice now the ball has bounced right to a Tenn player that should have been a turnover

They’re getting away with stuff they shouldn’t, doubling and leaving ppl open, running under screens, getting out rebounded (royally)

just seems like Texas should be further ahead but Tenn has good players
