And that’s understandable. It’s very hard to take one of Booker and Holle/Lee off the floor. It would be Phelia but alas, here’s hoping she takes a medical shirt and comes back

Vic just needs to be firm about sitting Rori in blowouts. Like an entire 4th Q if we are up 20+

yeah, it definitely makes sense.

The biggest issue is he really doesn't want to pair Harmon and Preston together which means limited minutes because Vic doesn't want to take Harmon off the court.

But that last possession today is why I would love to see Harmon and Preston together. Their ball denial is insane together. Those two would create major problems on the defensive end.

Texas remains #3 in NET, behind SoCar and UConn -

I know how to game NET, but UConn gets to play an entire conference of nobodies and win by 30+ and maintain a high NET ranking.  Outside of their game against Creighton, most of their conference foes are NET 60+ - one of them (Xavier) is 244!

Meanwhile, Texas just played a conference stretch of Alabama (19), @SoCar (1), @Auburn (59), Tennessee (12), @Ole Miss (11).

Remaining schedule:

1/30 Missouri (78)
2/2 @ aggy (66)
2/6 Vanderbilt (19)
2/9 SoCar (1)
2/13 @Kentucky (22)
2/16 LSU (9)
2/24 @Georgia (129)
2/27 @MSST (31)
3/2 Florida (58)

My prediction as of 1/27 - 13-3, top 3 finish.  I think we split the SoCar/LSU games and drop one of @Kentucky or @MSST - road games are tough and that Kentucky game on the road is a huge trap game, between SoCar and LSU.

Hard to state how the schedule did set us up for an easy finish after LSU - those should be restful blowouts prior to the SEC tournament for the starters to get some bench time in late Feb/early March.  We also get that 8 day layoff after LSU, which I'm sure the team will be happy about after a stretch of NET 19, 1, 22, 9 over a 10 day period.

Goes without saying - gotta finish top 4 to get the double bye. If the season ended today, Texas would finish in the top 4, currently in a three way tie with LSU and Kentucky for #2 in the conference.

Someone mentioned it on another site yesterday - WBB could not have been set up any better for doing well in our first year in the SEC by bringing on a coach with extensive experience coaching in the SEC.  Vic knows the SEC grind and how to prepare for it.

Last two games Holle has pretty much been MIA the last quarter, or at least a good part of it. Sure, in the Ole Miss game she had 3 fouls but only 3 when others had 4.

What am I missing?

She has trouble staying in front of quick guards. Lee and Preston have the foot speed and quickness she lacks.  That was a big issue for her in the Tenn game

And here I was thinking she was better than that at defending.

Thanks!

She was being abused by Tennessee. Lee and Preston were recruited for their speed. They should have both played more against ND, because we struggled to contain Miles and Hidalgo.

SEC games to watch this week, besides Texas' 2 games versus Mizzou and aggy.  Would be nice for both LSU and UK to take losses this week to solidify our hold on #2 in conference.

Monday
#2 SoCar @ #18 Tenn

Thursday
#13 OU @ #7 LSU
#22 Bama @ #12 Kentucky

Sunday
#12 Kentucky @ #13 OU

Taylor Jones SEC POW

Taylor Jones recorded her sixth double-double of the season and 24th of her career with 21 points and a season-high 14 rebounds to help Texas to their fifth ranked win of the season in a victory over Tennessee. Jones followed that up with another 20-point game with 24 points in a road win at Ole Miss. For the week Jones shot 16-of-23 (69.6 percent) from the field and 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the free-throw line. Jones was clutch in the victory over Ole Miss with 10 points in the fourth quarter including a jumper to tie the game with 2:02 to play. Jones also blocked three shots against the Rebels. For the season Jones is shooting 65.2 percent from the field.

Texas was also named the USBWA National Team of the Week

It may just be me since I don't watch every game but I don't get the feeling that Jones is going to miss the bunnies like I have in the past couple of years.  she seems to be pretty nails from the field and FT's.  Her consistency on offense is critical to this team, IMO.

Much much much improved in her final year of college ball.  I feel like her FT% has improved greatly because her form seems better/more fundamental.  I no longer have to watch her shoot them through my hands

She was 60% FG last year, up to 65.2% this year
Her FT% is the highest in her entire career - 75%
Her fouls are down to the fewest of the full seasons she's played - 2.2 per game
