I love Dawn Staley

Because you can't say those things about Yo without saying them about Mulkey too

https://www.essentiallysports.com/ncaa-college-basketball-news-dawn-staley-joins-war-against-classless-espns-sec-broadcast-drew-maddux-andrew-allegarta-over-remarks-against-rival-national-coach-yolett-mcphee-mccuin-ole-miss-rebels/

The controversy unfolded in the final moments of the game when Coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin called a timeout despite Ole Miss holding a comfortable 15-point lead. The decision didn’t sit well with ESPN commentators Drew Maddux and Andrew Allegretta.

They said, “Look I say this respectfully and she has done an incredible job and she has right, three consecutive NCAA tournaments, I can see why some of coach yo would be an acquired taste it’s a lot of bombastic motions on the sideline working the officials , timeouts when you are up by 15 points all of that sort of stuff but I can see where there would be acquired taste.”

The backlash reached new heights, prompting South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley to step in. In response to Brad Logan’s tweet exposing the harsh criticism, Staley didn’t hold back, voicing her unwavering support and standing up against the negativity.

“Woke up this am to this and came back to it because it’s just wrong. A personal attack on one of our is a personal attack on all of us including who you are broadcasting for.@YolettMcCuin keep being your authentic self. Broadcaster keep being yourself because we see you!”

Lol Vic didn’t even take the call from aggy when Blair retired. He isn’t stupid.

And if we land AC, he’s not leaving a generational talent to go coach aggy

Vic is 63 and his best shot of winning a title is the next 2 or 3 years based on the roster he’s building.

We are probably national title favorites next year if everyone returns that’s expected and we just add a decent big via the portal. That doesn’t even include the possibility of Chavez.

Audi Crooks with these guards/wings next year is the type juju I'm praying for.

She needs to leave Iowa State if she ever wants to win anything.

Crooks could be dislodged if ISU makes a coaching change.  Will they? Idk, but the Fennelly era is getting stale after 30 years.

ISU has made it to the second week once since 2010.  They haven't finished 1st in the Big 12 regular season since 1999-2000.

They beat us for the Big 12 tournament in 2023 and then shit the bed and lost in the first round.

30 years
2 Elite 8s
4 Sweet 16s
Missed the tournament 3 times
1 Big 12 regular season title
3 Big 12 tournament titles

I think she’s gone regardless. ISU is mediocre and even women’s basketball players can make decent money with NIL in the context of a player like her caliber.

I would be shocked if Crooks returns.

I said yesterday I was impressed by Lauren Ware, especially her rim protection.  6'5 and has a year left.  That aggy team blows

SoCar will be hard but Massey only has SoCar 57% in Austin (66-70). Texas 68% at home against LSU (77-70)

Vic talked a bit in his post-game presser again about the 4 guard lineup, analytics and how successful the team has been when employing it.

I think we really are going to see this rotation more.  If Carlton stays, I don't know if we even go after a PF in the portal - your primary rotation is Harmon/Preston, Chavez, Lee/Phelia, Booker, Oldacre/transfer portal center.  Plus Jak has shown she is capable of starting at the 4

He also talked about how freshmen adapt to the intensity required when it comes to playing time and the SEC - my guess is that may be, not a shot, but a justification for why Carlton isn't playing much - she's not bringing it at the level Preston/Lee are.

Don’t forget about Aaliyah Crump. She’s really good.

Yes, the 4 guard lineup really works when you can run any combo of Harmon/Preston/Chavez/Lee/Booker/Crump/Jak out there with Oldacre + transfer post.

It would be so interesting to be a fly on the wall while Chavez is negotiating with these schools. I guess the bidding was too rich for UCLA’s blood.

Allegedly why LSU was out too

I thought SCAR was out of the running for Chavez but apparently not? I can certainly see the appeal of playing for Dawn, but she would be leaving money on the table going that route. I still think it’s a three way race with Texas, OU, and Tech

Posted

OU is in 8th place in the SEC at 4-5

Tech is in 12th place in the Little12 at 3-8

If she goes to SCAR she's just another cog in Dawn's machine, but if she comes here she could make history at Texas in her home state.

C'mon Aaliyah, it's an easy choice.

Beers would have crushed it as a 4 here. I hope she regrets that choice to go to OU

Especially when you run so much full court press.

Booker is a special player. She’s only going to get better because this is really only her 1st year playing SF since she essentially had to play PG with Harmon injured last year. I don’t think a lot of people realize that. She’s having to adjust to an entirely different position.

Party like it's 2007! Vols snap a 4-game losing streak to UConn, their first series win in 18 years.
