Beat LSU at home and a #1 seed has to be close to locked up.

May already be, to be honest. This would be our 10th Q1 win

0 for Strack

14 for Amoore on an inefficient 5/16

Held UK to 3-15 BTA.

+17 on the glass and 20 offensive boards

Such a Vic gameplan

Texas wins 67-49. Held a top 10 team under 50

Off tomorrow, LSU prep Saturday.

big game (again) Sunday!

Hell to the yes. We are for real (kinda goes without saying, but still). We’re picking up momentum at the right time.

Decisive win. Amoore is a great player, but she was totally shut down both in scoring and assisting. Imagine what a rout this would have been has any Longhorn but Booker made shots from outside 10 feet.

A fully healthy Harmon and Preston, who now has 4 months of NCAA game experience, is a fantastic defensive duo. The lack of dropoff from Jones to Oldacre and Harmon to Preston is why Texas is a contender.

I want a rematch with ND

This is a tough team to beat because we dominate on the boards and are one of the best teams in the country in terms of turnover margin.

We just get so many more possessions than other teams because of rebounds and turnovers. We controlled two top 10 teams and I don't think we even got spectacular games out of Harmon or Booker. Both can play much better.

Nobody has the midrange game like she does. Literally KD lite

I don't watch Texas a lot (or any college women's ball). I'm assuming she's playing a different role this season? Similar stats as last year but less assists and turnovers - more boards. Shooting #s are better

She ran point most of the year (as a freshman!!) when Rori went down with the ACL. She’s back to her natural SF position.  And she still took us to the Elite 8

Who do we have to give Smiley breaks next year?

TBD. They’ll pursue another big via the portal though. There shouldn’t be any issue landing one with all the positive press Vic is getting due to Oldacre’s development. If the pairing ends up being anything like Jones and Oldacre this season, this team will be even better next year.

Any chance we'll see any "twin towers" play packages?

Probably not. That’s so antiquated. Vic talks a lot about how basketball is moving to 4 guard lineups and how they’re more efficient than the traditional 3 guard, 1 forward, 1 post lineups

Yeah. Just having fond memories of Olajuwon/Sampson.

#1 UCLA vs #6 USC. When Watkins is hit, she’s unstoppable! Good game, on Peacock.

This is the game of transfers

Betts, Barker, Iriafen, Gardiner, von Oelhoffen

Does USC winning jeopardize our 1 seed status?

Tough to say. Texas would still have 10 Q1 wins to USC’s 7

We’d need that LSU game to solidify our spot.

Not inconceivable in a special case, such as having to score a putback on an intentional FT miss. But as noted, seems unlikely otherwise. Probably a 3-second call just waiting to happen.

This is not sustainable against most teams. 17 made FG - 12 are JuJu. A better defensive coach (cough, Vic) could figure out how to slow her down and force her teammates to put the ball in the hole. They are 5-28

This game should be a selling point for Chavez.

Played almost an entire half with 4 guards and a center.

If Chavez isn’t convinced that Texas is the place to be, she never will be….people in Lubbock are generally not fans of UT.  Hopefully, we get her to Austin.

Are we better off with ucla winning and pushing usc further back, vs usc winning and possibly jumping us while ucla stays ahead?

UCLA/USCw/USCe/Notre Dame/Texas are all fighting for a 1 seed. If USCw holds on and beats UCLA, its difficult to rank these teams 1 thru 5, and obviously #5 would be a 2 seed.

I’d say our argument for the 1 seed is 10 Q1 wins (so far) and we can get as many as 12. We also have better losses - both of our losses are top 5 NET teams. USC lost to Iowa.

SoCar is still 1 in NET - it’s a better win that UCLA (5 in NET)

I dont know shit about shit so ridicule incoming … but make it make sense…. from a pOv….. why is Vic not the mens coach for about 7m a yr

It is like night and day and watching the effort, execution, and discipline of both squads. I don’t think our dudes could handle the accountability that comes with Vic.

Takeaways from watching USC/UCLA

- Janiah Barker would have thrived in Vic’s system

- Betts can be slowed down with a team with 2 pretty dominant bigs (oh what I know of a team like that!)

- Juju is all USC has. Her teammates defer to her so if you can slow her down a little, you force them to make plays. UCLA didn’t do that - they played more of a “let Juju get hers and force the other players to beat them” but Juju was able to beat UCLA on their own

- Close is still an abysmal coach. Horrible job protecting the ball and I think they had 4 or 5 shot clock violations

- I don’t think Gottleib is much better. I’m not sure she will ever win a title, but she’d be one in a long line of meh coaches who couldn’t win it all with a #1 ranked class

- Juju has at least turned USC games into Lakers games - star power galore. Galen was rocking
