The NC State game would have been 50/50 last year even with our issues at guard if Taylor Jones was healthy.

Jones had 11 points in 10 minutes against NC State. They had nobody that could stop her.

Yeah, but if we had Rori or Preston, James maybe doesn't go off for, what, 30 points and 7 threes?

Vic and Dawn are both locked up through 2029-30

Vic's salary (for now) increases by $100,000 per year, ending up at $2.6m in 2030

Dawn's increases by $250,000 per year, ending up at $5.25m in 2030

We should be paying Vic more but not at Dawn's level.  She has multiple titles.

Vic will get a raise when we hit the Final Four.

He will get a bigger raise when he wins a title.

Not if, when.

FYI, he is already the 4th highest paid coach, behind 3 coaches with multiple titles - Geno, Mulkey, Staley. And he's paid more than a coach who does have a title (Frese).

We should laugh more at why Joni Taylor is the 7th highest paid WBB coach in the country.  28-33 at aggy.

In my mind's perfect world, Vic wins multiple titles here, then way down the road hands the keys to the dynasty to budding superstar coach Rori Harmon.

Staley didn't make her first final four until year 7. First title in year 9 at South Carolina.

I think we're ahead of the curve though because Vic has more resources to recruit at Texas than Staley had when she started at South Carolina.

Will be interesting to see if she comes back and does she try to go pro or play overseas. She’s small, but a defensive pest. But she has no 3 point shot. Decent midrange game, good facilitator and hits her FTs now

I also wonder if we do something like Houston is doing with Kellen Sampson. Keeping one of the best assistants in the country on staff by guaranteeing him the HC gig once his father retires.

Probably too early for that with Blair and maybe not the route we should take but she's apparently already getting interest as a HC.

Vic has up to another 10 years in him.  Let's wait and see.  I don't know if CDC wants to do a Kellen Sampson thing or if Blair needs to go cut her chops as HC somewhere first and then return to replace her dad.

I would be 100% for Rori being a graduate assistant and then working her way onto staff.  No one works harder than Rori.

Vic also thinks Holle is destined to be a coach, so she could also end up a graduate assistant here.  Vic loves to bring in former players on staff - Blair, Dillingham, Jazz Holmes, Sydney Carter

There's also some weird Twitter thing of ex-Arky/aggy players badmouthing Vic.

Like, yes, he's a hard ass coach.  Has any player who left badmouthed us on the way out?  How does he keep getting former players to come work for him?

Other than players like JAT and Ebo who left to do their final COVID season at another school, which happens a lot, feels like most of those who left couldn't handle being coached hard.  I don't remember Celeste having anything bad to say, and she gave Vic a chance before she left.

Go listen to how Shae, Rori, Madi, Taylor, etc. talk about him.  They love him.

If they’ve quit on her, back up the bag for Ware.

Texas has 5 of the top 30 most watched games so far in the 2024-25 season:

vs LSU (2.3m)
vs SoCar (1.020m)
vs Tenn (521k)
@ ND (504k)
@ Ole Miss (227k)

But hey, I'm sure Tech is on the list somewhere...

Anywhere?

Maybe?

(Nope)

would aggy hire Blair away as HC?

they think we gave Vic an extension because the A&M AD was putting out feelers on Vic. They wouldn’t “settle” with Blair.

Yeah that’s why. And not because we’ve gone to 3 Elite 8s, won a couple conf titles and are poised to share the SEC title in our first season and get back to back #1 seeds

According to that one poster on texags, Vic chokes in the tournament every year.

That fanbase is broken.

I'm sorry, what?

Vic's tournament results:

2015 - 5 seed, lost in the second round
2016 - 5 seed, lost in the Sweet 16
2017 - 2 seed, upset Baylor in the Elite 8, and the infamous upset of UConn in the Final Four, losing to SoCar in the finals
2018 - 1 seed, made it all the way to the finals, lost by 3 to ND
2019 - 1 seed, lost in the Elite 8 to Oregon by 4 points
2021 - 6 seed, upset 3 seed in the second round, upset 2 seed in the Sweet 16, lost to SoCar in the Elite 8
2022 - 2 seed, lost in the Elite 8 to Stanford
2023 - 4 seed, lost in the second round to 5 seed Louisville
2024 - 1 seed, lost in the Elite 8 to NCST

Vic has really had 1 disappointing NCAA tournament, which was 2023.  He took a team with a freshman SF playing PG to the Elite 8 and somehow scrapped that team in 2021 to the Elite 8.

And his 2020 team was 27-6, with a predicted 3 seed

I know a more recent mock draft didn't have her listed (maybe they think she comes back for another year?) but there was a mock draft at the beginning of the year that had her as a potential top 10 pick.

Nice little primer of the top 16 + how they’ve fared since the reveal + upcoming schedule, plus a few teams on the cusp of moving up

I figured he would. We don’t play until Monday, he can fly up to her game and back the same day. I’m sure Blair or Elena handled practice for an afternoon

They won by 4 I think and advance

Nailbiter. Chavez wasn't their leading scorer today, but Monterey had just enough to win.
