Not that we’ve been on fire, but Dawgs have scored 6 points in the 2nd half so far

This is why zone defense is a losing battle. It might slow us down offensively but you aren't going to beat us running this type of defense.

Our 2 strengths are offensive rebounding and half-court defense. Georgia can't get in transition at all which means they are totally shut down in the half-court.

lol the way we’re playing I thought we were up by 6 then I look and we’re actually up by 20 😂😂😂 like a snake just suffocating teams.

Haha. Was just about to say the same thing. Regardless of the offensive performance, this is an absolutely elite defensive squad. Ugly wins are still wins. Just dominated UGA on defense.

Opposing fan bases can talk shit all they want about Texas and whether we should be ranked 1 or not, but they sure as hell don’t want to face this defense come tournament time.

Defense travels. It’s 100% suffocating

So does offensive rebounding. 23 offensive rebounds to 9.

This is a mirror image of the final 4 teams under Vic at Mississippi State. Destroy you on the boards and suffocate you defensively. We just need 1 perimeter player to catch fire offensively in the NCAA tournament (Holle or Lee).

Margin is more than their score now.  Good timeout.

Not often you hold a P4 team under 30 points in 40 minutes

Texas wins 57-26

Thursday’s game should be interesting. Vic’s return to Starkvegas

This is the exact type of game where I wish I was in Vegas people watching at a sports book. People losing their shit near the ending of an absolute blowout haha

According to ESPN, 26 points is the fewest total points EVER scored in an SEC game. Texas breaking records in year one.

5, 11, 6, 4

That’s kind of shit you see when UConn plays some MEAC school in round 1. Not a game between 2 power 4 teams

*tied for the lowest total. They referenced this game at the end of the broadcast from February 22, 2015. Back when women still played in halves

It's amazing how many more possessions/shot attempts we generate from offensive rebounding and turnovers.

Georgia with 36 FG attempts to our 61 FG attempts. It doesn't matter how you shoot if you're generating this many extra possessions.

Reminds me of how Shaka lost to ACU - shot 27 more FGs than we did, even if they only hit 30% of them

Generate 23 turnovers and 18-5 edge on the offensive glass and you have a shot to win that game, regardless of what you shoot.

Thank you for that terrible reminder haha. Still don’t understand how a team full of amazing athletes and four players who went on to play in the NBA got dominated in those phases of the game.

Anyways, this all being said, Texas needs to get their overall fg% up to win a title. Eventually, I’d have to assume an opposing squad will hit some threes with precision and even with extra possessions, poor shooting will doom us.

We’ve had a game where a team hit 3s with precision and we still won - Tennessee hit 9/17. But yeah, we do have to get our FG% up. And a big part of it is Booker’s midrange when it isn’t falling

Not to mention Holle has been off in her % nearly all year. She's getting some decent looks but not many makes. Maybe she's nursing an injury, or maybe it's just a slump. She continues to play hard on D.

Yeah, I mean against a legit contender. Which, assuming we hold on to one of the top two one seeds, won’t be for a while in the tournament. Barring a complete disaster, this team will get very far playing like they currently are.

Booker has been way off for a while. It’s puzzling.

Another thing that’s puzzling to me is Holle’s shooting. Not necessarily her percentage (a decreased percentage I can understand); but some of her misses are just uncharacteristically bad this season.

Hopefully this is just all related to the style of defense the team plays and the fact that it’s late in the regular season (similar to how Barnes’ teams typically wear down at the end of the regular season). The rest time after the SEC Tournament should serve this team well.

I'm not sure how well this team actually needs to shoot to win a national title. They beat South Carolina without making a 3. They beat LSU despite starting fucking 7 of 37 from the field.

I mean at some point the other team has to score points. Yeah I guess someone could go crazy from 3 and shock them but that's typically hard to do when you're getting the life strangled out of you by the opposing defense.

They should make another EE without any drama and will have as good a shot as anyone to win from there.
