standard Mulkey. Cries about fouls all game and the refs take the bait.

Now is a ref’s chance to stick it too her.

Of course, one could claim the sec wants to protect lsu’s 2 seed

That's still a foul on LSU.

You have to give the player room to make a move. LSU is clearly in her cylinder.

Except there is no cylinder in women’s basketball (yet)

Alabama as a 4 seed is going to be a bitch for some #1 seed on a neutral court in the Sweet 16.

If they had a fully healthy Barker for the entire year they would be a 2 or 3 seed.

And double suck if they end up in Birmingham

Tonight was a weird night in WCBB - I’m no longer that upset about our 4 point win on the road

1 taken to the wire

7, 8, 11 lose on the road

3 upset at home

Class act to go down the line to shake hands with the entire Miss St staff.    I posted before when he threw out the first pitch at the Disch couple of years ago he took time to shake each player's hand on the dugout rail.    Sweet baby Jesus,  may he win it all this year.

If all favored teams win on Sunday, this would be the bracket*

*Texas/SoCar will be determined by a coin flip after Sunday, so 1/2 is actually TBD

I think our best path to the SEC finals is being #1 - Ole Miss, then winner of OU/Kentucky.   Keep us away from Bama, Tennessee and LSU.

You also want the earlier games - noon on Friday and 3:30 on Saturday.  Being the first game of the day is always the better option.

Thursday was the second and final top-16 reveal from the NCAA tournament selection committee. Just like with the first reveal, this one's relevance didn't last long. Every seed line was impacted, and 12 hours later the top 16 looks quite different. The most noteworthy news from Thursday evening was South Carolina's dip to a No. 2 seed. After Notre Dame's shocking home loss to Florida State, the Gamecocks are back on the 1-line as the Irish fell to a No. 2. Tennessee had moved up to a No. 3 for the committee, then lost by 24 at Kentucky: Back to a No. 4 for the Lady Vols, while the Wildcats are again a 3-seed. Alabama's stunner over LSU pushed the Crimson Tide from top-16 outsiders into the club. Their ascension now gives the SEC seven teams in the top 16 heading into the final weekend of the league's regular season.

I have a hard time seeing our #4 seed being Tennessee - the committee loves a good story and OU is sitting there on the 4 line for a potential Red River Rivalry Sweet 16.

Why is UConn #1 in NET?  And weren’t they that high even before the lopsided win at South Carolina?  I really don’t get it.  I’m not saying they aren’t one of the best teams and a natty favorite, but that ranking juxtaposed with scheduled and results is really bothering me.  4 Quad 1 wins up against 12 Quad 1 wins for both South Carolina and Texas underneath them?

This is also intriguing as it relates to seeding.  Crème once said NET #1 has never been on the top line, but I think most agree now that the four 1’s should be Texas, both USC’s and UCLA.  Notre Dame may well be out of it now.  I think UConn is the only one who can somehow steal one from one of these teams.  I would think if Texas beats Florida and secures a tie for the SEC they would secure their #1 but I still have pause because of the UConn situation.

Margin of victory plays a significant factor with NET, and despite playing in a weaker conference they don’t play down to the level of competition.

Creme has long said what hurts UConn this year is the lack of Q1 wins.  They played 7 Q1 games so far, but they basically split them - 4-3

The committee largely agrees, because they have UConn 6th overall as of last night.  It's far too late for UConn to move to the 1 line, because like you said, the Q1 wins do not favor them.  It's a glaring hole in their resume.

UConn - 4
SoCar - 12
Texas - 12
ND - 6
UCLA - 10
USC - 9

Huge reason why Texas/USC/UCLA look pretty secure and SoCar moved above ND after last night. ND is also having the same Q1 issue, which is why they will likely be #5.  They win the NCST and FSU games and they have 8 instead.

I don't think Texas is in danger at all - we are #2 in the committee rankings.  If UConn theoretically was going to steal a 1 line, it would be from the committee's 3 or 4 (USC/SoCar), but ND is still ahead of them AND beat UConn H2H.

Yep, they beat the shit out of the Big East, significantly.  They also play the toughest OOC schedule and get rewarded (#1 non-conf SOS)

NET also factors in efficiency ratings and UConn is high on that - they are #1 in Bart Tovik in offense and defense.

Also you can go back and look historically at their Q1 record, pre-tournament:

2021 - 7 Q1 wins
2022 - 7Q1 wins
2023 - 14 Q1 wins
2024 - 9 Q1 wins

Many here have related how important it may be to have one of the top one or two 1 seeds relative to just merely being a 1 seed.  It’s starting to look like only Texas OR South Carolina could do that.  Makes you wonder if the potential SEC tourney final rubber type match would be for this distinction.  Seems that it could really play out that way.

I think for sure you don’t want UConn as your 2, probably not ND but then you have to see that you really may not want NC State as your 2 either…. Lots to move here and see how those dominoes fall.  As of now whether that is LSU, UNC, TCU whoever I think that’s who you want as your 2 and not from the former group of teams I mentioned.

You say that quite a bit, but what ever happens?

Nothing the public ever sees. Could result in a loss of conference tournament games, demotion of the amount of games you were going to get, if the NCAA Coordinator of Officials is watching/nearby it could harm your chances there if you were already selected, and worst case you don’t get your contract renewed. All 3 of those refs will get renewed, though.

One of those refs from last night’s Alabama/LSU game lives out near Lubbock and has for decades.
