Ronald Hugey has finally resigned from UH

Karen Aston for Houston Cougar WBB!

Aston is a better coach than a lot of the coaches at power conference schools right now in Texas. Definitely better than Gerlich at Tech, definitely better than Taylor at aggy, better than Hugey at Houston, and I think she's also better than Collen at Baylor. Her resume is better than Campbell at TCU too but he looks like the real deal.

If Tech was smart they would fire Gerlich immediately and throw some money at Aston. No shot they will do better than her. Not saying Aston would take the job but worth the shot I guess.

I wonder if Gerlich gets the axe after their next loss or if they string her along until AC makes her decision

It’s going to be a battle, but I love the adjustment Vic makes the second team he sees a team

I believe when we played Ole Miss it was one of those weird 3rd game in 7 days type ordeal too. It was at Ole Miss too.

Aston’s proved she’s a top 15ish coach but in the current state of women’s hoops that’s a far cry from title contending. But in the direction the game is going a top 15 coach could be good enough to win it all which is a great sign for the sport.

Oh yeah almost forgot. Fuck Kim Mulkey.

of course Mulkey gets a gift...

We might get the same gift. I wouldn't pick Florida to win but I wouldn't be shocked if Florida beats LSU without FJ.

LSU has not been good without a healthy FJ. A bad half from Kentucky or else they would have lost 4/5 to end the season.

I actually really like Coach Yo - maybe you have diff experiences if you've officiated any of her games before

But when we play her, I hate her.

A few Creme updates:

Ole Miss moved off the 4 line in Birmingham 1 and Alabama moved in, setting up a potential Texas/Alabama rematch in the Sweet 16, instead of a third Texas/Ole Miss matchup

He still has Georgia Tech as the 9 seed in Austin - welcome back, Nell Fortner!

The other side of Birmingham 1 is super interesting - FSU, OU, OKST, NCST.

Elsewhere, Vanderbilt moved up to a 7 to be sent to to Storrs - Geno/Shea Ralph reunion.  Also, Creme has 2 LSU / 3 TCU has a potential Sweet 16 game (HVL revenge match against Mulkey)

Tech wins and moves on to play 3-seed OKST tonight at 9pm on ESPN+ in the Big 12 quarterfinals

2 Big 12 tourney wins brings them to 16-16.  11 of their 16 wins were Q4 wins lol

Its not Tech lol

Also never noticed how much she looks like a young Kara Lawson

I noticed the Lawson look alike when I first saw her photos, which is also why I wondered if she was Blatina. But I think both of her parents are Latino, right?

I’m willing to bet her parents grew up in the late 90s/early 00s because to have a Latina named Aaliyah is unheard of.

Very cool, come to Texas please. Ou has nothing but meth.

Season 2 Wtf GIF by Parks and Recreation

Texas needs to be doing this to more teams.  Defense is there, but the shooting can disappear and keep opponents close for too long.

Don’t think there’s a Texas fan who would disagree. This team needs to put teams away quickly and stop playing with its food

Someone drove up the price on the Texas/OU side?

Is one of the Love kids a big WBB fan or something? (The widow who dropped all the money for OU's softball field died in November)

I have no behind the scenes NIL knowledge, but I don't think she will have a problem clearing that with corporate opportunities. If that's the ask purely from the collective(s), my first guess would be that influence came from the Tech side.

On3

"Texas women’s basketball and coach Vic Schaefer have put themselves in prime position to land the nation’s top-rated hoops player for the Class of 2025.

Lubbock (Texas) Monterey point guard Aaliyah Chavez is one of the most decorated prospects in the last decade. The 5-foot-9 guard capped off an incredible senior year with a Class 5A-DII state championship earlier this month. She finished her career with 4,796 points, which ranks 14th all-time on the girls’ state scoring list. She also averaged 34.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 3.7 steals per game in 2024, leading Monterey to a 37-5 record.

The McDonald’s All-American and Jersey Mike’s Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year has announced a March 25th commitment date, choosing from Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and UCLA.

After catching up sources over the last few days, I’ve entered an RPM of 60% for the Longhorns to land the West Texas legend."

Wow.  That was not a good GT team that NCST had to escape.  Won't hurt their seeding, but they are not the scary NCST team from last year, especially away from home (as @Rickylovesweed said)
