We took our last embarrassing loss to South Carolina and used it to fuel us to a 15 game win streak

We just need to win 4 over 2 weekends to make the Final Four

I know Holle is a glue player, but 1 point in the last 2 games isn’t going to cut it after whatever hapless victim we get in round 1

The thing with Texas and Souf Carolina is you hope it doesn’t become psychological like it was with Baylor. I get we beat them at home but the other 2 matchups weren’t competitive at all. I’m hoping it was just the environment and coincidence because the conference clearly likes this storyline/new rivalry.

Will be interesting to see how far Duke goes in the tournament. I bet they are regretting not hiring Lawson at Tennessee.

UCLA beat USC and we got blown out in the CCG. I honestly don’t know how the committee is going to seed the 1s

Remember that we only play them once next season in the regular season. No idea if it’s home or away.

Vic needs to allow Lee to shoot. She seems hesitant as if she doesn’t want to get benched. That would hopefully help our shooting woes a bit.

More Preston, more Lee. Ugh, I wish we had Phelia available

Yes, more Preston as well. It seems like Vic stuck with the older players during the tournament. Playing Preston more and allowing Lee to shoot would have saved some legs. As it is, Lee and Preston only played maybe 15 minutes per game. C’mon Vic. Use them more.

Also, Vic teams have historically struggled against South Carolina. That may be in his head, too.

They just don’t hand out those McDonald’s All-American honors….Daly probably relates to these young recruits better than Vic.  Hopefully, we regroup and have a huge chip on our shoulders.

We can afford giving up some offense for solid defense against inferior teams. But not once the clear formula for defending us is out there and we're facing teams with ample firepower. With opponents sagging into a zone, Holle has to score in transition and hit at least a third of her threes. Great Longhorn, but she has to be MUCH more effective through the rest of March.

Of course, Holle's not the only one. Nobody really looked that good on offense today. Staley told her D to simply ignore Harmon, and we saw how that turned out. Just a discouraging overall team effort, even if partly due to fatigue.

We didn't give up all that many points, but I thought we had major issues on D. Whether mainly because we were exhausted or simply facing superior athletes, we were regularly getting beaten one on one. I know Vic detests the zone, but if you're always losing drivers on high screens (whether switching or not) and giving up a parade of layups, you simply have to try something else. Especially when tired, we just aren't quick enough to stay in front of good ball handlers driving off the wings. Burned time and again, leading to layups and/or fouls.

I think we're somewhere between the third and sixth best team in the land. Hope we prove to be better than that, but it will take a real surge in our play to change my mind.

Yea, that’s why I said earlier is no point of getting Chavez if Vic is gonna handcuff her (which I truly doubt). Lee and even Carlton seem like they’ve gotten worse as the season went on, specially Carlton . Lee is steady but her shot doesn’t seem as consistent.

like @Js1 stated before, Vic is old and probably stuck in his ways, but if he ever wants to win it all he’s gonna have to adapt

Vic had some good 3 point shooters at MSU. Including Blair.

Exactly.

But the entire team looks robotic on offense. Booker appears to have the most freedom but she gets caught up in forcing shots cause the play was called for her. They all force the ball to spots regardless of what the defense is doing.

And some athletic bigs (really athletic) which gives me hope he just needs to get his players

When you're a halfcourt team getting throttled by good athletes, you'd better be able to come up with some transition buckets and occasional off-platform points when sets break down. We honestly don't have that kind of freewheeling scorer, which is why Chavez would be such a key part of the future. I don't know as much about Crump but am hopeful she also can loosen things up. As noted, though, it all has to be done within the framework of what Vic will allow.

Hope that’s not how it pans out….listening to Vic’s press conference, he was asked about playing SC in SC….just said he’d have preferred to play in San Antone.

We also seem to take forever to get into an offensive set. Lots of Harmon still pounding the ball above the arc with the shot clock at or under 12.
