Dawn trying to fire up her team by saying they should be #1 overall

Lindsey Gottleib already bitching about USC having UConn #2 in their bracket. Some big pussy energy there

Also, when we discuss how great a coach Vic is - Texas hasn’t earned back to back #1 seeds since 1987 and 1988

Add 2024 and 2025 to the list.

Friday, March 21 (First Round/Round of 64)

Saturday, March 22 (First Round/Round of 64)

(all eastern times)

I'd ask someone to explain why Texas and LSU home games (in central time) are at 8:45pm and 9:15pm, but Southern Cal's home game is at noon pacific time.  Oh yeah, because ABC wants JuJu

The TV times blow ass, we will probably get the 2nd to last timeslot for Monday's Round of 32 game as well.

It's bullshit for the in-person attendance but I don't mind late games for TV.

Yeah, I've developed sleeping habits of an 80-year-old man, so this is pushing bedtime for me.  But I may suck it up and take my daughter who's home for spring break.

It’s not so bad on a Saturday night. Minus having plans. It sucks on a Monday night when we may not play until the late windows

Because Texas can't shoot 3s!!!

HP is 21-11 despite only playing 2 P4 opponents (L vs WV and W vs UCF)
W&M is 15-18

Let's look at our 8/9 opponents
Illinois is 21-9 and their notable wins are FSU, Iowa and Maryland.  Ooh, so scary.
Creighton is 26-6 (in the fucking Big East) - they lost to South Dakota St, who Texas crushed, beat Nebraska, scored 41 points versus UCLA and lost 3 times to UConn

Like, seriously? The Texas team that beat Vanderbilt, Tennessee, SoCar, Ole Miss x2, LSU, Kentucky, Bama and OU is going to lose to either 21-11 HP or 15-18 W&M?

They also wouldn't put their money on that.  Like Texas, SEC co-champs, and only lost 3 games, all away from home, versus a 3 seed (ND) and two losses to the #2 overall seed (SoCar)

I need a couple sources because I refuse to believe that even on reddit people are that fucking stupid. Teams seeded 14-16 have one won game in women's tourney history.

Never great here on Eastern Time. But I'd much rather whine about the hour than have UCONN in our region.

Honestly I’m not that surprised a lot of ppl aren’t picking Texas and we only have an 11% chance of winning it all.

we can look very very bad on offense, and we lost two starters. Plus it’s March you run into the wrong team that’s hot, doesn’t matter who it is you can lose.

I do think we at worse advance to an E8 anything more I consider overachieving with our offensive deficiencies this season. Now next year depending on who we get, it’s championship game at worse.

KO was in Blair's story today working out without a boot.  Purely precautionary.  Flau'Jae Johnson wore one the day before and morning of the game versus Texas (in Austin) and played.

That sounds about right.  I wouldn't pick us to win it all, based on our offense.

But defense travels to Birmingham.

We held 2 of our 3 E8 opponents to fewer than 62 points (2021, 62 to South Carolina and 2023, 59 to Stanford).  This is the best offense Vic has had at Texas, so as long as the defense travels, I feel good about our odds to reach Tampa.

But the committee pairing up the SEC and B1G in the Final Four is lame.  We could easily end up with the SEC and B1G tournament rematches.  Because all of America wants UCLA-USC and Texas-South Carolina for the 4th time in 2025.

Hindsight is 20/20, but being the 4th #1 would have given us a new F4 opponent, but we would have had to go through UConn to get there.

I think the committee was probably trying to avoid a rematch in the title game. If all goes to chalk, this guarantees a high profile new exciting matchup for the title. Splitting up the four could've possibly resulted in USC-UCLA or Tex-South Carolina part 4 for the title.

Hoping Holle can find her streaky three stroke for the tournament.  Add in Booker and anybody else who can sling it on a streak.

Saw where her contract isn’t up until 2027 and tech fans only found this out because someone did a FOIA request.

She’s owed like $670,000.

Crème picking us to lose in the EE so..

I think the Elite 8 is a pretty big advantage for us if we get Ohio State. I think we win that fairly easily. While TCU and ND will probably be in a battle.

Then 2 days later they have to play 40 minutes of hell. I think that's going to be a problem for either TCU or ND.

TCU lost to South Carolina (badly), OKST and a KSU team without Lee.

They beat NCST very early in the season by 3 (not sure they'd do that again), ND very early in the season and Baylor 3 times.  They're kind of like we were before we ran into the South Carolina buzzsaw - currently on a 10 game win streak.

Penn St. center Gracie Merkel is in the portal (6'6)

15.5 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.5 bpg, 67% FG, 60% FT

Would be a good pairing with KO

Her make % from behind the arc this season is nearly 44%. She is making them, and analytics say she needs to take more.

Geno Auriemma's 5-Word Reaction to UConn NCAA Tournament Bracket Speaks Volumes

"I thought it was great," Auriemma said when asked what he thought about the bracket, per an X post from SNY. He then added, "I don't think there's any surprises that pop up in these brackets. I mean, you kind of put two and two together, and you start to realize that there's only so many teams that they can put in certain places. And then after you see one bracket, you can start to do process of elimination."

He later added, "As I told everybody up there, there's no easy brackets, there's no one bracket that's harder than the others, there's no easy matchups, there's no somebody's got a tough road, somebody's got an easy road. You go where they tell you and you play who they tell you. It's been like that from day one."

I like his response….kind of like Vic’s……anybody, anywhere, anytime…..

Geno also made a comment about the NCAA moving to the 2 regional format.  I agree with him

Also the final four is in Tampa, so the 2 teams who come out of Spokane have to deal with a huge time change

“The men (NCAA Tournament) are not very bright. They have something called regionals, which means they're in the four regions of the country, North, South, East and West. The Women's (Tournament) is so smart. They have two,” Auriemma said sarcastically. “They have one in Alabama and one in Spokane Washington, which means 90% of the country can't go to any of those games.

“And they have eight teams in Spokane, Washington, us being one of them. There aren't even eight hotels within 500 miles of Spokane. We're gonna have to stay in Idaho. And you think I'm funny, that's the honest-to-God truth. … They picked these sites, and I have no idea why they pick them, other than when they were decided there wasn't this craziness about women's sports that there is today.”

It's funny how some are giving Texas very little chance of making it to the Final Four when Gottleib and her team have a very real possibility of losing to UConn.

Her Sweet 16 at MO State + being a former Lady Vol is why she got the job.

She coached at MO State for 6 years, so that's her connection to the state of Missouri
