SCAR opens -4.5.

Books aren't giving either UCLA or Texas any chance at beating UCONN but giving SCAR a... pretty decent chance at beating UCONN?

Which... seems strange to me since the SCAR/Texas line is fairly tight.

Bruins are getting 7.5 against UCONN.

HVL and Prince being totally (wo)manhandled by our D was so satisfying to watch. Shoutout to everyone involved in making that happen. And huge props to the ladies who made clutch shots at key points. Despite that lockdown D, the outcome hung in the balance  because we again missed a ton of chippies. The baseline jumpers from Rori and Maddie, that 3 from Lee and the several clutch scores and steals from Kyla were so critical. Just a gutsy effort all around.

Yep - Vic was ready this game, defensively.

Prince - 1-4, 2-2 FT, 9 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 5 fouls (lol)
HVL - 3-15 FG (lol), 10-11 FT (okay SGA wannabe), 7 turnovers

Sedona was still talking mess about Texas in the postgame. Campbell was doing his best to spin those comments in a positive light. Basically saying we mentally destroyed her and she had to transfer

honestly I hope we go at her and others.  On paper we will be strong but I want Texas programs to take the Sark effect. Never get complacent, always go after the best players as long as we’re smart about it. Don’t want to mess with team morale or cause a stir in the locker room but always plan to get better.

Besides we could definitely use the shooting

As the old saying goes, water seeks its own level.

Seems like TCU has already made her a Godfather offer.

Campbell seems like one hell of a recruiter. Also want to know who is bankrolling TCU WBB bc they hate football and MBB and baseball apparently

Was Prince an Aston recruit?

Also, the media has already set the Championship game and winner of that game, and Texas is neither of those so there’s no reason to not play loose on Friday.

Yes she was.  She left after the 2018-2019 season. She redshirted and then left. It was under the old staff, but she sure didn’t seem to mind hugging Zillner postgame

Been reading about a lot of locker room issues at ND due to Hannah Hidalgo being a virulent homophobe. Good for Miles getting away from that trash

I will never understand people like Buck Burnett and Hannah Hidalgo. How you gonna be outwardly racist or homophobic when a good chunk of your teammates are black or lesbians?

Can’t help how you are born?

The biggest homophobes are those who are gay themselves and refuse to admit it. Just looking at Hidalgo (and I shouldn’t do this but I have), I thought she was a lesbian herself.

Horns are up to 8 to 1 to win the title on fanduel.

TCU is going to be a perpetual recruiting problem

Seems to be, at least they aren't in conference. The way to compete is to outspend.

Hopefully the FF run now will generate some BMD enthusiasm for our WBB program.

At this rate, Campbell is destined for a bigger job if he keeps this up.  Hopefully anywhere but the SEC or UConn

Could see aggy make a run at him once they can Joni next year.

Well for us, there’s no reason to not play loose and your best game(s) of the season.

- You got the EE monkey off your back

- You’re in the Final Four and NO ONE is taking you seriously or expects you to win

- They’ve already penciled in Souf Carolina and UCONN for the NC with UConn winning the NC

That’s all the words you need for your Friday morning sermon if you’re Rev. Vic

Plus you followed up one embarrassing loss to the Gamecock with a huge statement win against them. You just had an embarrassing loss to them in the SEC tournament. Sounds like a recipe for a statement win

I’d be showing them film of MSST beating UConn in the final four. It’s decided on the court, not in the media

The TCU coach can recruit, but his in game adjustments in the Texas game were trash.  Texas was pressing the inbounds and he would run exactly zero plays to get a player open for a pass...no picks and, most of the time, he had only 1, maybe 2 players as available options.  I would think after the second or third 5 second call that you would make some adjustments, but nothing.

Lol people are dumping money on UCONN.

I'm just not convinced they're THAT good. The OU win was impressive I guess but USC gave them a decent game without JuJu. Outside of that it's been ages since they've played a top flite team.

all the bueckers effect.  as long as Souf Carolina can stay out of foul trouble I think they beat Uconn.

I would love to see how Vic would handle bueckers if we can get there.

It was 2 seasons ago but she was 4-11 (2-5) from 3 for 14 points and 4 boards, 4 assists, 1 turnover

Well UCONN whipped up on them earlier this season - mainly because they hit 10 more 3s.

UCONN lost to Tenn 10 days before that game.

22 turnovers shows you just how good this team can be and should not be taken lightly. People pencilijg in anyone are morons. It's the FF, it's anyone's game to take.

They generally defend well enough to hold opponents below average

Well below, in most cases. But yes, the question is always - can Texas shoot?

or more accurately -

Can Booker make those middies
Can our posts not blow a bunch of layups
Can Holle or Lee hit a couple from deep

For all the guff about how amazing SoCar is - they trailed in the 2nd half in their R32, S16 and E8 games.  Yeah, they won, but they didn't have a bunch of dominant victories.

Texas went wire to wire against TCU

Illinois' largest lead was 2, in the 1st Q

I think we trailed in the 2nd half of the Tenn game for about 2 minutes, and it was a 2 point deficit

South Carolina had a 3 point deficit in the 3rd Q against Indiana in the R32
Maryland had a lead over SoCar for about a 4 min stretch of the 3Q
Duke led by as many as 6 in the 3rd/4thQ

If Booker is making her mid-range jumpers, then its going to be a great night for Texas.

If those are missing (same with Rori), then Texas will take their Final Four swag and head back to ATX early.

Seriously about Rori. I remember another undersized PG who used to have a money floater in the lane (McCarty). Feels like Rori had that in her bag as a freshmen but lost it with the ACL tear. I’ve seen Preston bust it out a few times

Auriemma said after that game that was the most effective and best defense played against bueckers and them as a team he’d ever seen.

I don't think it matters that they are in conference or not at the level we're playing and the level they're getting to they will be there come tourney time.

Wasn’t bueckers already hurt when that game was played?  Or was that last season?

Buecker didn’t play the 2022 game we lost at UConn. Neither did Rori - that was the toe injury that sidelined her

She did play the 2023 game in Austin that we won

And if Rori isn’t making those money floaters but Preston is then Vic needs to lean on the freshman.

If we can just make 90% of the layups you seldom see anyone but us blow, I'll be OK with the outcome. Even if we don't make a 3 and lose by 10. Nothing makes me crazier than missing open 2-footers. And there's been plenty of blame to go around on that.

I dunno man, I saw a lot of missed layups and putbacks across the elite 8

I wish our mid range shooters utilized the backboard more.  But that takes skill to locate it perfectly.
