Does Ryan even need to throw anymore if he sittin in first?

can’t he just wait to see if someone passes him?

He can pass, sure, but if he does and someone else comes through with a 23-meter toss--which several in the field have that potential--then he has that many less attempts to try and regain the lead.

Leo's just lost his lead in the decathlon.  May have trouble hanging on to a medal now.  Some of these guys are launching in the javelin.

Yeah, I figured he'd throw at least near 60m and then do just enough in the 1,500m final to hang on but I think he's out now unless he comes through with something special. 54m is well below his PB of 59m.

Rooth has a 16 point lead after the javelin and also has a better 1500 m time than Leo.  He should have it wrapped up.  Leo has a 44 point lead over 3rd place but they didn't say whether than guy has a good 1500 or not.

Leo's going to need the run of his life to stay on the podium, me thinks.

That the US can bring in excellent 400m "backups" like Norwood, Deadmon and Shamier Little and set world records while most of the rest of the world rolls out their best quarter-milers just speaks to our depth in the 400m.
