Descanse en Paz, Chi Chi

A true gentleman and fine golfer and an even better human being. I still have a hat he signed for me at an exhibition charity round he played in Michigan.

Keep waving that sword on that big golf course in the sky.

Hell yeah.  Was out there several times and he always put on a show.

My claim to fame is when Arnold Palmer hit one off the right side of number 9, I think, as I was walking by so I got to be right by him and he flicked his cig right at my feet just before he hit.  Full swing prep, he had it in his mouth.

I saw him a coupler of times at the World Series of Golf on the practice range at Firestone.  When he was on the range I'd go over and he would entertain people with golf tricks and jokes.  He seemed like a genuinely good human being.

RIP, Chi Chi

He did that on the course as well.  He walked up, hit his ball, and walked over a chatted with a my friend and I while waiting for the other golfer to hit.

Yep. I was there and remember that. Very unusual.   I was lucky enough to get his autograph.
