Doesn't hurt that these kids can act circles around most of the cast of the Acolyte.

That and the writing and motivations are so much better. The storyline is purposefully muddy. It reminds me a bit of the first season of Rebels.

It's just further proof that a show that doesn't focus on Skywalkers or Jedi can be very successful.

Not everything has to tie back to the movies and muddy cannon (Obi Wan).  And god forbid, can we go one show without wanting to dump a bunch of cameos to appease people?  Let something be original and new

There's a place for The Acolyte, just as there is a place for Skeleton Crew, Andor and Mandalorian, and a place for Ahsoka and BoBF.

Should have included it, yes.

Best SW we've gotten, period, since Rogue One

James Mangold has said his movie will be 25,000 years into the past so he doesn't have to appease any current conventions of Star Wars. That's the way to go.

And sure there's a place for The Acolyte. Just don't write a shitty show that was confusing and contradicted itself for strange reasons.

one more episode to go. A lot to tie up. Its been a solid series and I hope they can pull the ending off

So many questions about Jod the "Jedi"

He behaves like a sith. Let’s not forget those exist and he could be using the dark side.

I think there’s a reason they did a whole scene with Jod motor boating gold bars. He’s not a Sith. He’s not a Jedi. He’s a pirate.

He just wants the gold. He could give a shit about any other purpose.

Yeah, he ain't a Sith.  I still get "former Padawan who fell out" vibes, and him being just a greedy ass pirate now makes that feel more true.

There is no place for the Acolyte or BoBF.   BoBF's most redeeming quality was Jennifer Beals.     But I think he also a youngling/padawan survivor or part of the grey jedi?

He could be a Kanan Jarrus who fell in with a group of pirates.

Except it was routinely mocked because it's "too kiddy" and "not made for me"

Because SW fans don't give anything a chance without immediately crapping all over it.

It's the best thing we've gotten since Mando season 1

I'm not getting into all that. It's the same old beat the dead horse.

I enjoyed this series and think they will have a great final episode

The show has been great so far, shocked to hear the ratings are worse the Acolyte.

from reddit

Skeleton Crew has less views than Acolyte, don't expect a season 2 "The only Star Wars live-action series that ever failed to chart before Skeleton Crew was The Acolyte, but that was only from its fourth episode"

very disappointed in the lack of views , but hoping it gathers steam and gets some rewatch after all the episodes are out. I could watch it a second or third time and I wouldn't say the same for Acolyte or BOBF

I feel like it's not getting advertised very much

The only reason I even knew about it was the thread here.   I have Disney+ because it is in a bundle, I pretty much just watch Andor and BoBF.

I believe he said graduation. My guess is that nobody on that planet knows - hence why they're still minting old republic gold. They were just forgotten about and kept going about their business. When the Onyx Cinder showed up that was probably the first offloading ship they'd seen in 30 years. It definitely seemed like everyone was shocked to see it arrive.

Yea it’s this. Shit like 10 of them almost fell in when the shuttle lift to the vault opened because they didn’t know it was there. Supervisor and droids have been on auto pilot cranking out credits and nobody has a clue about the outside happenings.

My guess is the The Acolyte seems to have caused Disney to shy away from spending money to advertise it, and so they are going to Solo/Firefly this series despite of the viewers enjoying it.  If they were smart they would keep it going and let it build momentum, heck even release the first few episodes online for free on YouTube to help it get going.    My daughter likes Time Bandits on Apple+, but they fucked that program over with zero advertising of its existence and we just accidentally stumbled upon it.   So I heard it is not picked up for a second series.

Would be funny if it was Anakin’s light saber and this was part of the story of how it ended up with Maz Kanata.

It doesn’t look anything like the one Luke used. It looks like something from the high Republic.

If you’re going by the Nielsen ratings (which is the only publicly available survey data as far as I know), none of the top 10 is family programming aside from perhaps the British Baking Show.

Anyway, I think we’ll see some articles in the trades promoting the idea that Disney’s internals show high viewership amongst younger viewers and they are satisfied enough to put a second season in production.  If they want to shuttle it off into developmental hell after then they can do so quietly.

I think they also are trying desperately to broaden the audience and might be willing to invest a second season into it.

Too bad nobody is watching as it’s actually pretty good w/o the issues of the last few Disney+ series.

Nobody’s watching it because of the last few Disney+ series. People are tired of getting excited for Star Wars content only to end up watching an embarrassing pile of shit.

They fucking murdered Time Bandits, however they have a lot more invested in Star Wars and keeping the kiddos interested (those Star Wars resort things at Disney World don't pay for themselves).

Time Bandits was on Apple TV, no?

Eh, I don’t think they are programming Skeleton Crew for the SurlyBevo demographic.

All caught up and waiting for the next one.  It's rare that I can get my busy teenage kids to sit down next to me for any length of time, but they love this show and we've had a good time watching it together.  I also love to make them cringe by saying that Jod seems like he's skibidi beta.

Been watching with the wife, but started a re-watch over the weekend with our 4 and 6 year Olds and they love.

Jude has been fantastic, may be one of my favorite roles he's ever played.

Also saw that Jude is a father to 7 kids.  Which makes sense because he has great chemistry with the child actors.

I've been throwing "That's so wizard" into conversations when the kids are around.

What a fun little show and nice surprise that turned out to be.

Got serious ET vibes when the kids all took off in the forest on their bikes.

FINALLY!

Got to a see a B-Wing get some combat action and it not be on a cartoon. So what happened to the original pirate? Did he just die on the ship? Loved the Order 66 still being active. So it was Old Republic and then went dark. Did the Emperor not know about it? A droid running an entire planet is amazing and the adults either didn't know or only certain ones knew and kept it a secret because they knew what opening the barrier would mean.

Loved it. What a fun show.

Original pirate you mean Jod?  He was in the supervisors tower, and I’m sure he escaped

The setup and line “so which are you lying about” was great

No, the one who crashed on the planet with the ship. Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention to his backstory since I have 3 gabby females watching with me.
