Report: Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss targeting Michigan assistant for defensive coordinator role

A number of programs, including Nick Saban and Alabama, have tried to raid the Michigan staff over the last several years to pull special teams coordinator and safeties coach Chris Partridge away for other opportunities.  Add Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss to that list, according to a report from Tom VanHaaren last night.

The report states that Lane wants Partridge, the former head coach at powerhouse Paramus Catholic (NJ) with very strong east coast recruiting ties, to come fill his defensive coordinator position.

Ohio State football to elevate Corey Dennis to quarterbacks coach: Report

Updated 6:31 PM, Today

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football plans to look internally for its next quarterbacks coach, according to reports.  Quality control coach Corey Dennis is expected to be promoted to succeed Mike Yurcich as QBs coach, per Yahoo’s Pete Thamel. Yurcich was hired as Texas’ offensive coordinator following the Buckeyes’ Fiesta Bowl loss to Clemson last Saturday.

Reports last month said Dennis was expected to join the coaching staff at Colorado State, also as quarterbacks coach. Those reports preceded Yurcich’s departure at Ohio State.

Dennis, who is the son-in-law of former OSU coach Urban Meyer, has spent the previous five seasons on Ohio State’s staff. Over the past two seasons he worked with Heisman Trophy finalist quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins, who set a Big Ten touchdowns record in 2018, and Justin Fields.

He began his tenure as an intern while working towards his master’s degree in sports management. He later served as a graduate assistant on offense in 2016 and ’17. Prior to his coaching career, Dennis played 54 games in four seasons at Georgia Tech, contributing at receiver, defensive back and special teams.

Lane Kiffin don't give a fuck.  He hired the Baylor rapist coaches - and now a guy who killed one of his own players:

Is there any surprise that matching Kiffin and Ole Miss won't quickly devolve that program into new territory, even by their previous standards.  1 + 1 = 8.

Also:

FAU: Adam Rittenberg tweets that tight ends coach Clint Trickett is likely to be be promoted to the offensive coordinator role on Willie Taggart’s staff, with the expected departure of Charlie Weis Jr. to USF.

USF: Bruce Feldman tweets that FAU safeties coach Wes Neighbors is expected to follow defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer to South Florida.

USF: Joey King, who coached the wide receivers at Coastal Carolina last season, has been named tight ends coach. Prior to Coastal Carolina, King spent five seasons as the head coach at Cartersville HS (GA).

Anyone know if Charlie’s wife and Gilbert Gottfried have ever hung out?

Not shocked that a Yankee from Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School was not a great fit in Starkville, Mississippi.

Yeah, Georgetown, Akron, UConn, Fordham, Penn State is not exactly a resume that screams "connects with Southern culture and mentality"

It is the college application list of a kid with reasonably good grades from a Northeast Ohio Catholic high school.

Good move from MSU

Its pretty crazy on paper -

Since Darrell Royal left in 1955, MSU has had one coach leave the school with a winning record - Dan Mullen.  All the others have career .500 or worse records.

Moorhead was fired after 2 years with a winning record, going to two bowl games, and a 2-0 record in the Egg Bowl.

Yet, most fans familiar with the situation think he sucks and agree with the firing.  IMO, he was about to run the program into the ground over the next two years.

Pitt should use it as an opportunity to fire narduzi and hire Moorhead.

at the very least they should try to hire him as an oc.

I like the way you think but after being OC @ one higher-caliber job and then a head coach, I'm not sure Pitt has the juice to get him as just an OC.

Gotta find some way to keep those central catholic kids from going to Notre dame.
