The same Todd Orlando who was hired at Texas Tech?

As a LB coach. Doesn't keep Aranda to go after him as a DC. They run similar Defenses and Aranda was the one who suggested Orlando to Herman.

Am I the only one that feels good about this?

I certainly don't feel bad. Lets see his defense with a bunch of underclass baylor guys that rhule hasn't developed yet take on the Big 12 after playing against Big 10 and SEC teams the past several years. Plus we'll see what he learned about running a program from Coach Mushmouth. It's a big name, but it's hardly a slam dunk.

I'm on the cautiously optimistic express with this hire.  Net positive that Rhule is gone, but they didn't totally fuck this up enough for my tastes.

Then again, Kevin Steele is also an above average DC so that's where I'm hoping this thing goes.

Rhule and Briles had positive head coaching experience before Baylor.  The risk is much higher hiring a coordinator.  That is where i am at.

on another note, got sauce of your profile gif?

I'm trying to think of a DC recently that did well as a HC once promoted.  Odds are not with Aranda on that.  Holy shit LSU, if rabble rabble can somehow rebuild LSU to contend after this max exodus, well then, he's a coach who's earned it.

whole lotta shit fell right into place at exactly the right time for their NC to happen.  Gene Chizik says hello.

Kirby Smart. But the loser list is pretty long - Strong, Muschamp, Diaz, etc.

He's fine now. They figured out that brain freeze was making him having seizures.
That gif always cracks me up, happened maybe 4 or 5 years ago. So staged with DQ country really being in Minnesota.

Peanut butter parfait for the win however, yankee boy.

Tom Allen (former DC) at Indiana, forgot about that guy.  3rd year, 1 point away from a 9-4 record.  at Indiana.

Add Brian Kelly to the list.

aka THE MISSING PIECE THAT WILL PUSH A&M PAST ALABAMA

but enough about The All-American

I like that “he is expected to end up” at aggy.  Sounds like he’s floating aimlessly and will inevitably be captured in the vortex caused by their suction.

He’s not proven a thing yet. 1 point away from 9-4 means he choked to Tennessee and went 8-5. He was blown out against every decent to good team Indiana played except for a meh loss to Penn State. Fucking Michigan State scored 40! points against Indiana.

The best of Indiana’s 8 wins this year was to either 5-7 Ball State or 5-7 Nebraska. He also beat such badasses as 1-11 Eastern Illinois, 2-10 Connecticut, 3-9 Northwestern, 2-10 Rutgers, 3-9 Maryland, and 4-8 Purdue.

So yeah, even an upperclassmen-laden Indiana team should go 8-5 against that schedule. Allen has proven nothing. His team is conservative and unimaginative, which is a DC turned HC hallmark.

So, you're saying Indiana is SEC-like now?

We went through this exercise a few years ago at the bar watching games. Looking through the major head coaches and what their specialty/background was, and contrasting with their success as a head coach. The difference between offense and defensive head coaches, both in numbers as well as success is....stark.

Interesting. Granted he's been in the pros for awhile, but have to think this is a move by GA to attempt to modernize their offense.

Boy, poor Aggy just can't seem to get away from the offenses they can't defend worth a shit. Hate to see it. They're fortunate to have a cutting edge and in no way obstinate offensive mind leading their program. They're fucked when they play GA again sometime in 2042

Also good to point out that their offense was 27th in FEI while their defense was 77th, so most of their success was due to Kalen DeBoer who left to be HC at Fresno State. I doubt Allen can hire a good OC two times in a row. It seems like most DCs struggle to keep a strong defense when they move to HC, relative to offensive minded HCs.

Monken was a former OC for Okie Lite too...

That’s a really good hire for them. He’s had a ton of success at every stop, except for last year, which seems to be the fault of Freddie Soup Kitchens.

Yep, and Joe Burrow says it was real cash.

LSU might have screwed up letting Odell on the field and interacting with players, especially following the national championship when there are cameras everywhere.

Joe didn't do his former school any favors by coming out and saying it was real.

Congrats, guys. You won the national championship, had an amazing year and an amazing quarterback and now because of this you get the NCAA sniffing around. Plus they still have the Funes problem, which I don't believe the NCAA has closed the book on yet.

Here is the answer to gilbert leaving mcneese st....  they are about to get ncaa'd because of LSU.
