Some vague rumors say that AD Barry Alvarez was hard to work for.

Remember when at a press conference where he stated that only his physical, run-heavy style of football would work at Wisky, basically passive aggressively putting down Gary Andersen for running too much of a passing offense with Andersen not present?

Twice, I believe.

He said in his presser that he would always make himself available for coaching bowl games.

It’s good to see people willing to make sacrifices for the betterment of others.  What a role model.

Kevin Kelley, one of the most successful high school football coaches in the country and well-known for his unique approach to strategy that includes never punting and almost always onside-kicking, will be named the head coach of Presbyterian College on Friday, a school official told ESPN.

Kelley moves to the FCS ranks after a historic run at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas, that includes nine state titles and being named the USA Today High School Coach of the Year in 2016.

His quantitative approach to decision-making has earned him significant praise and endeared him to many coaches and football fans, as he has been the subject of several profile pieces, including an ESPN feature on Grantland in 2014.

The methodology employed by Kelley might be unconventional, but the results have been indisputable, including a 13-0 record this past season, his last at Pulaski Academy.

Notable players developed under Kelley include new Patriots tight end Hunter Henry, who signed a three-year, $37.5 million deal this offseason to join New England. His new coach, Bill Belichick, is a longtime admirer of Kelley, whom Belichick described as "probably the top high school coach in the country" during a news conference in December.

Presbyterian is coming off of a 4-3 spring season after having its fall season postponed due to COVID-19. A member of the Pioneer League, Presbyterian has a pair of recent players from the program in the NFL: Patriots All-Pro special teams player Justin Bethel and Colts cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, who finished his college career at Temple before being drafted in the second round in 2019.

Eli Drinkwitz adds veteran NFL offensive coordinator to Missouri staff

By Doug Samuels -  May 13, 2021

Missouri and head coach Eli Drinkwitz have added a veteran coaching presence to their support staff.

Scott Linehan, who spent last season as the passing game coordinator at LSU, has joined the Mizzou staff. His official role will be as an offensive analyst.  “Scott Linehan is an exciting addition to our staff,” Drinkwitz shared in the school’s release. “He’s a true veteran of the profession with experience at a variety of levels. We all look forward to working with him.”

Before joining Ed Orgeron’s staff last year, Linehan was a veteran offensive coordinator in the NFL with play calling stops with the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings.  Linehan lasted just one season in Baton Rouge, where he was tasked with following up the most explosive offense in college football history.

Before jumping to the NFL, Linehan served as the offensive coordinator at Idaho, Washington and Louisville.  From 2006-2008 he served as the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, where he went 11-25 and was let after an 0-4 start in his final season. The first year, the Rams finished with an 8-8 mark, followed by a 3-13 season in 2007.

His son, Matt Linehan – a former Idaho quarterback, is currently a graduate assistant on the Tigers staff.

Linehan had the following to share about the new appointment in the release:  “I have great respect for Coach Drinkwitz and his vision for our program. Mentoring collegiate players is an aspect of the profession I’ve always enjoyed and I’m thankful for this new role. Additionally, the opportunity to work with my son, Matt, as he begins his coaching career is truly special.

Odd time to fire an assistant... will be interesting to hear the reasons/excuses why  😋

Even odder for a program that has been producing a ton of great OLmen recently. Wonder if its tied to their scandals of the past year.

Based off the first two weeks it looks like LSU, USC, and Nebraska will be open by the end of the year. Also wouldn't be a surprise if Miami moves on from Diaz.

FSU has fired Taggart after two years but will they be able to do that again if Norvell doesn't get it together?

That's 4 and maybe 5 programs with national relevance (Nebraska is trying their best to lose that claim) that could come open this offseason. Should be a fun coaching search season.

I have a hard time believing O is getting that full buyout out the goodness of Woodward’s heart.

O knows (well his lawyers do) he has them over the barrel regarding the Title IX issues and they can and would gladly blame all of the issues regarding on the administration if asked. Now he can just keep playing dumb and take his payout and much like the Camm Newton payout scam, nobody will do much with no one being forced to talk.

Not sure if serious.  Fick don't wanna go to Penn St.  LSU either.

I think he won't do anything before the end of the season at Cincy, depending on recruiting and his pay with the Bearcats he could stay quite a while; also he talked to MSU then said hell no (and basically forced Sparty to overpay to get Coach Tucker)

Parliament - do you think he's hoping to go back to the Buckeyes? (seems like a stretch, unless Day bolts for stupid money somewhere (Bama, USC) but OSU can pay stupid money if they choose.

You might not want Fick to go to Penn State, but he might view it differently.

I don't get why people view Penn St as some springboard job Franklin is itching to leave (to go to USC?) or a guy stuck at Cincin fucking nati wouldn't bolt for. Pedo gate or not it's a blueblood job in prime recruiting territory. There is no reason a great coach can't rev that shit up to Ohio State levels in a few years.

Jeff Choate, Texas inside linebackers coach/co-defensive coordinator: Choate, a former assistant on Leach’s first staff in Pullman, also merits a closer look. He did a terrific job elevating the Montana State program in four seasons, going from four wins to five to eight to 11 and an FCS seminal final appearance before exiting to become a co-DC at Texas.
