Early frontrunner for the ECU gig is LSU OC Joe Sloan, who's a Pirate alum.

On3 lists Sloan, ETSU's Tre Lamb, Clemson's Garrett Riley, Tenn DC Tim Banks, among others.  I agree w/ you that Sloan would seem to be the frontrunner.

Another heavily hot-seated candidate was head coach Dave Aranda, who got a key win against Texas Tech last week. Every game remaining on the schedule is critical and the Bears (3-4 overall, 1-3 Big 12) will likely be favored in most, if not all, of them. While the preference by Baylor brass may not be to move on from him, the Bears do need to take care of business coming down the stretch.

Still can't align Baylor's 2021 season and Aranda's coach of the year performance with everything else he's shown at Baylor. It's just not a good fit and he's not head coach material. He seems much more suited as a DC focusing on just one side of the ball.

Amazing what someone can do with another coach's leftover players and culture.

Rice has fired head coach Mike Bloomgren. Team meeting has been called to inform the players. Pete Thamel first reported. Bloomgren is in his seventh season at the school

The bloomgren hire was dumb AF in the first place anyway.

I would take a shot at Seth Doege or Tashard Choice

I thought it was actually solid at the time being that Stanford/Rice recruited the same kids.

But then you throw out names of Seth Doege and Tashard Choice so I'm assuming you were making some kind of joke?

Defensive coordinator Jordan Lesley has been let go at West Virginia, Neal Brown has announced.

The move comes as the Mountaineers enter the bye week following a narrow win over Big 12 foe Arizona on Saturday.

In both the 2020 and 2021 seasons Lesley was a nominee for the Broyles Award, which goes to the top assistant coach in college football.

However, this year WVU is allowing over 28 points per game and rank 95th nationally in scoring defense.

He knows how to get offenses to put points on the board, so maybe OU should bring him in to the open offensive coordinator position?

Georgia Tech coordinator Ricky Brumfield no longer with the team

A few days after associate head coach Ricky Brumfield did not make the trip for the team's game against Virginia Tech, the program has announced that the veteran coach is no longer with the program.

Brumfield also coached the team's corners.

Not the first time BYU has gotten a DC fired right after the game 😉

IIRC, they finish with Texas, LSU, and FSU.

I wonder what happens to Stricklin's missive if they go 0-3 and aren't competitive?

Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, FSU

Florida president and admin situation is a total mess. Keeping Napier in sort of a holding pattern makes sense until the upper level stuff gets ironed out.

I doubt they really have a choice.  Other schools will throw cash at all the coaching prospects, why go to the university that doesn't have its admin ironed out?

USC was in a similar situation with Helton which is why it took so long to can him. They had to get a new president, a new AD, and then they could deal with the coach. Probably a similar situation at Florida.

And since then, Bohn (AD) left in disgrace, and Folt (prez) is leaving this summer.

Former NFL coach Jack Del Rio, the senior adviser to Wisconsin head coach Luke Fickell, will resign after he was arrested early Friday and cited for operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a crash in Madison, Wisconsin.

Del Rio, 61, was arrested shortly after midnight Friday after a vehicle he was driving hit a street sign, broke a fence and came to a rest in a yard, according to a Madison Police incident report. Officers were dispatched to the scene, located west of campus and Camp Randall Stadium, at 12:35 a.m.

Witnesses directed the officers to the driver, who was walking away from the area, according to the incident report. No injuries were reported.

Del Rio "showed signs of impairment" and admitted to driving the vehicle. He was arrested for first-time OWI and released.

"I'm grateful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to work with such a talented coaching and support staff and some of the best young football players in the country," Del Rio said in a statement Monday. "I have decided to step away from my position with the team, so they can focus all their attention on the remainder of the season."

Wisconsin issued a statement saying they were aware of the incident and "take matters like this very seriously."

The former Jaguars and Raiders head coach joined Fickell's staff at Wisconsin in August. Del Rio had previously served as the Commanders' defensive coordinator and had held coordinator roles with Carolina and Denver.

"He's going to move forward and he's going to resign and move on," Fickell said Monday. "But it's a tough situation. Decisions that all of us have to be able to take full responsibility for. So that's what Jack will do, and we'll continue to move forward."

Del Rio played linebacker with four NFL teams before embarking on a coaching career entirely spent at the pro level until he came to Wisconsin.

The Badgers are coming off a bye week heading into Saturday's showdown at home against No. 1 Oregon.

Bud Elliott-isms from the Cover 3 podcast today.

- 1-9 gets you fired every time at Florida State but… they can’t fire Norvell because they just extended him. Whoopsie.

- They fired their OC, DC and WR coach today. About $7 million to in dead money. Still cheaper than paying Norvell $63.8 million.

- Even when FSU was 13-0 there was concerns about Norvell and staff’s ability to recruit high school recruits/portal reliance. To sum it up, Norvell is pretty easy to work for and doesn’t drive his guys hard. His staff in turn, doesn’t recruit very hard.

- He said every recruit they sign is a pure NIL recruitment. They have to overpay especially on defense because their defensive coaches can’t recruit for shit.

Kannell stayed silent during most of Bud’s rant. And really hasn’t been overly critical of Florida State. He’s even defended them at times by stating they still get good TV ratings. I’d theorize he wants to be the voice of the Noles or something official with the school, but I’m pretty sure he’s living the good life in Wyoming.

Saw Tom Herman is letting assistants go like OL coach Ed Warinner (who previously coached at ohio state) and his DC Roc Bellantoni.

Herman should just fire himself... 😎

I guess they could hope to get Rhule, but it's a huge gamble.

If I was an AD I'd put the bounty for Franklin on playoff wins , fuck all the rest.

I think Penn State is in a fantastic spot

He should fire himself for allowing the QB situation to be what it is.

There are few qbs who could work behind that line, even without the impending exodus.
