Aeromexico has tweeted that one of their planes had an accident near Durango on the afternoon of July 31. The Durango State Governor Jose R. Aispuro also confirmed the accident at Guadalupe Victoria Airport. The governor said that there was no official number on how many people have been injured. There were more than 100 passengers board, according Channel 10’s Zujey Luna. Luna later reported that a nearby hospital is braced to receive 80 injury victims.

Well, in a couple of those pics there is still some fuselage left.  Let's hope some people got out.

Is it too soon to speculate? I have absolutely no supporting information but I'm going with runway overshoot on landing or engine problems on takeoff.

I’ve flown them. The slightest turbulence rattled everything an ungodly amount. But at least they serve tequila shots on a 12am flight

Early thoughts from the hive mind seem to be either a microburst at ~V1, poorly-managed engine loss at ~V1, or both. Reported weather at the time was pretty rough. Then again who knows it’s early.

Doesn’t look like it ever ‘got up’ to go down...which probably is what saved their lives if it was some freak unrecoverable weather event or poor decision to go for it.

Though that wasn’t a 767 like this video, a bit of rain and crosswind isn’t a problem if you’re in a rush Russian.

Yeah I had some hair raising flights on Cebu Pacific during my time in the Phils but nothing quite like that

KAM air. Fucking plane had duct tape everywhere and those pilots gave zero fucks about bad weather.

Took an AeroMexico flight to Cancun after HS graduation 20 years ago, so this hits close to home.

There were about 40 graduates (from all over DFW, not a big group I was with) and we drank them out of their free beer once we hit international waters.  All the Modelo, Corona, Sol, and whatever else was free was gone mid flight.  Sitting in the outdoor customs area in 98* humid sun wasn't very fun
